Chapter 4 - Postcard

"Can you tell me who he is?" She asked Charlie.

"Since he doesn't want you to know who he really is..." Charlie shrugged. "All I can tell you is that all my friends are rich."

"Why doesn't he want me to know who he is?" She raised a brow.

Her roommate placed his hand on her shoulder and squeezed it, signalling her to stop pursuing the subject. She looked at her roommate's worried face and there she remembered Mr. Kingsley's words.

*FLASHBACK*

Mr. Kingsley looked beyond the glass in front of him while he listened to her. Once he heard of the name 'Patton', he was petrified for a moment. He regained his composure then said, "Is that so?" He turned to her, "Word of advice, Miss, do not entertain that mysterious man."

*END OF FLASHBACK*

Those words stuck to her like glue and she felt quite cautious about pursuing the subject. She was still curious but she was torn between pursuing her curiosity or just abandoning it.

"You seem stressed... Want to drink it away?" Her roommate smiled lightly.

"Sure... We can talk about it with a bottle." She replied.

They left the casino then went straight to the bar. As they drank, she kept on looking at the contents of the letter and she was quite intrigued.

"How about you?" She asked her roommate, "Do you know who Patton is?"

"Well, I've met him once but again, I don't do family reunions." He shrugged.

"He's family?" Her eyes opened wide in shock.

He sipped from his glass then let out a long sigh, "Not really, he's a friend of Charlie so I guess..."

She looked down in disappointment as she swirled her glass of wine. "I am still curious about it... I got a warning from Kingsley not to pursue but I don't know what to do..."

"Again, such a curious soul you are." He chuckled. "What a fitting personality for quite the name."

"Shut up..." She rolled her eyes.

They talk about her roommate's family while they drink. The two laugh and cry about the topics they talked about.

As the two bonded, Charlie walked to his office located at the top floor. He walked to the elevator then he swiped his card to reach the top floor. The elevator ride was quiet but the silence was broken by his ringtone. 'Patton' was calling.

[Patton]: Hey, Charlie! How's the curious one?

[Charlie]: Can you stop? She's happy already... She doesn't need anything she forgot.

[Patton]: Eh?! Do you know how hard it is to wake up every single time knowing that the woman you love doesn't remember you?!

[Charlie]: I know the King told you this already. She's happy now... Aren't you the same? We three love her and don't you think she deserves this?

[Patton]: We three love her but it's heartbreaking to see that the woman I love doesn't have the slightest idea who I am...

[Charlie]: You always see her, do you not? Is it not enough?

[Patton]: Why are you two doing your best to make her forget me?

[Charlie]: Don't you get it?! Once she knows who you are, everything might come rushing back to her and her trauma will come back! Look at the bigger picture here... Please...

[Patton]: At least when she talks to you, she remembers you... Sometimes, I'm already in front of her and I just want to cry because of those eyes of hers. Cannot I have the chance to make her fall in love with me again?

[Charlie]: *sighs* One chance... I'll tell the king. I have to go... Visit me once you thought of it.

[Patton]: Gosh, I love you Charlie! I knew you had a soft spot for me.

The call ended and the elevator ride was over. His sigh echoed through the corridor to his office. Pondering upon Patton and his goal. All for the sake of love but it would really be better if she was free of the chains of trauma.

She was drunk and her roommate just finished taking a call. He sighed then he carried her. "You're still the same weight as before..." He mumbled.

"I... I wanna know..." She said. Her speech was slurred but her roommate can understand her at least. "Who is that- that Patton guy? He's oddly familiar and his writing is beautiful."

Her roommate called Charlie to send a car. Charlie went to the front door of the hotel to see them off. She was sleeping peacefully in her roommates' arms and it definitely was because of the alcohol.

"Take care of her... Alright?" Charlie smiled.

"Since when did I not?" He chuckled.

They nodded at each other before the car left. When they reached their apartment, he rested her gently on her bed before leaving. He left her side of the room then as he was reading a book in their common area, he heard a loud noise coming from her room.

He rushed to see her on the floor, petrified in fear and she was shivering. "Are you alright?"

"I... Have... I have to... Answers!" She stuttered. "Car... Fire- Building... Hos-hospital bed. Pat-Patton!"

"It's going to be okay... Breath slowly." He hugged her tightly. "What did you dream about?"

She pushed his arms away then she pulled his collar close to her. "Who... Patton... He has the answers."

"I don't know who he is..." He held her hands. "I'm sorry... Maybe Charlie or Logan can help you with that."

"No... No... I need to know." She cried.

"If it makes you feel any better, Charlie gave this to me before we left." He gave a postcard to her and of course, there was a message.

[Kingsley and Princeton didn't want you to remember me because I was there and if you learn my identity, it might bring back memories your subconscious tried for you to forget.]

She scrambled to get a ballpen then wrote her response. Her roommate only sat there and watched her shake.

[What is your goal then? But before that, tell me. Tell me what happened. I want to know, you told me I forgot about you and it seems that Mr. Kingsley and Mr. Princeton are indirectly confirming this. Can you tell me who you are?]

She gave the postcard with her response to her roommate then she slowly crept onto her bed. "Good night Cha-" She fell asleep once more.

Katsuri barked outside the door and when he opened it, the dog ran past him then jumped onto her bed. It slept beside her and it made her roommate worry less. He left the room once more and instead of continuing his book, he went to his table then he folded a paper flower before going to bed.
