Patton woke up to the sound of his alarm clock buzzing at four in the morning. He stretched for a moment before jumping off his bed. He took his phone then he played his favourite piece, it was a sweet melody by Yiruma called, "River Flows In You". He started humming to it as he fixed his bed. He lived with his roommate who wakes up late.
He starts making breakfast for two with the picture of his roommate in front of him. "Can we go back?" He smiled at the picture.
He was haunted by the past and though his mannerisms looked normal, he still reminisced on the past that he clung on to. He finished breakfast then he left a note next to his roommate's plate.
[Feed the Kat before you leave and make sure you eat before going to work. I have work today so I packed lunch. Eat your lunch, I'll know if you didn't. -C]
With that, he left. It was five in the morning so he decided to make a visit to his beloved's office. Like always, Kingsley awaited his arrival.
"Ah, Logan!" He smiled. "For-"
"The curious one... I know." Logan rolled his eyes.
Patton could only chuckle. "It's an origami flower today."
"I heard you and Charlie squabbled?" Logan raised an eyebrow as he waved the flower Patton made.
"Yeah... He said that it was best if she forgot about me." Patton lowered his head.
"But still not giving up, aren't you?" Logan smirked. "Listen, lover boy, before you talk to Charlie, it would be best if you change out of your pyjamas first."
Patton completely forgot that he left the apartment wearing his pyjamas which made him chuckle at the realization. Logan let him inside his office and there he changed clothes.
"But seriously, Patton, I know you still love her but be careful," Logan warned. "Word of warning, do not mention anything about her past... If you want her back, start anew."
"What do you mean start anew?" Patton asked as he combed his hair.
"Woo her once more and leave everything that happened in the past." Logan yawned.
"Then can you place that message on her desk?" He smiled at him.
"Yeah... Of course." Logan nodded, "Charlie and I will be your middle-man, just don't blow this by suddenly appearing out of nowhere."
"Yeah... I can take care of her as-" Patton was cut off by Logan's chuckle. "You have to take care of her like that. Just don't trigger her."
"Damn, you two are more like brothers to her than me and I am the one in the clan." Patton laughed.
"We don't want you sulking if she suddenly passes." Logan raised a brow.
"Shut up... Anyway, I need to leave. I have a lot of people to attend to." Patton hurried. He took his bag before leaving.
When Patton left, Logan was staring at the flower. He admired the detailing made by his friend and he was happy that he still loved her. It has been more than a year and still, her memories aren't back. She only remembers the basics but most are either blurry or plain forgotten. Still, the doctor advised to slowly let her remember and not pressure her to remember everything at once.
Logan went to the fifteenth floor then put the flower on her desk. She never locked her room for some reason and he took advantage of it. He took the liberty to look around then he saw a picture frame with her roommate's photo in it. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that there was a fold overlapping the visible photo which prompted him to open the frame. Once he did, he saw that behind the visible photo was a picture of her and Patton on the Lover's Bridge.
They were showing off their matching rings and it was snowing. The photo was evidently taken more than a year before, more precisely, before the incident. She was wearing a white beanie with creme ear muffs, a white scarf with black trims, creme coat over a black turtleneck and white skinny jeans under black winter boots. She still had glasses back then and she looked so beautiful.
Patton was on her right, wearing a black beanie. A grey scarf around his neck, black coat over a grey vest and white polo. His gloves were off to show his ring and he looked so happy beside her. The picture made him wonder, 'Does she remember something about her past?'
He put the photo back in the frame then made sure he put it back where he found it, perfectly because he knows that she could be meticulous at times and she would notice in a heartbeat if someone messed with her things. He took one last look around then he left. The flower was resting on the desk like every other thing she was given.
Once he got back to his office, the clock struck thirty minutes after six and his secretary knocked on his door. He let him in and he was with the manager of the accounting office.
"Sir Kingsley." She greeted. "I trust that Patton gave this?"
"Have you an idea of who he is?" He asked.
"I have something to ask." She sighed.
He signalled his secretary to leave the room and as soon as he did, Logan crossed his arms before sighing. "What do you want to ask about?"
"About Patton." She said with a straight face. "Who is he?"
"It's better if you didn't know." Logan looked away. He fixed his silver glasses then he cleared his throat. "Patton... You do remember him."
"No... I don't... Unless..." She hesitated. "Are you hiding something?"
"Yes." He replied honestly, "I am... But it wasn't my choice to hide."
"What?!" She exclaimed. She took a folded piece of paper from her pocket then she showed it to him. "Who is this?"
The folded paper was the picture he saw behind her roommate's photo. "That... It's Patton."
"And the girl is me?" She pointed to the girl with round white glasses.
"Yes... It is..." Logan nodded. "Have a seat, I'll tell you all that I know."
