It turns out that it is quite hard for Alan to control his aura when he is asleep. Sadly, he did have to learn that the hard way.
Looking around his bed, he saw that the majority of the room was covered with a thin layer of ice. Clare was at the foot of his bed shivering.
"Can you do anything about this ice?" Claire asked.
"I-I'm sorry. I didn't realize that this would happen," Alan said, trembling.
"I know you didn't, but it still did happen. I'm freezing my ass off here, and Clint is unconscious. I think it may have to do with being a part lizard," Clare said.
"I don't know if I can remove this ice. How long was I out for?" Alan asked.
"You were asleep for about half an hour. The ice started appearing 5 minutes ago. Clint went unconscious. I think that this is too cold for him," Clare said in a worrying tone.
Suddenly, the door burst open.
"What's going on? Why are all the ducts jammed up?" Akshika said, bursting through the door. "Holy shit. What happened here?"
"I don't know. I thought I had it under control," Alan said.
"Oh shit. That's not good," Akshika said, looking at Clint. She then picked up her phone and dialed a number quickly.
"Send me a stretcher asap. We have a problem. A demi is injured." Akshika said. "We will talk about this later, Alan. For now, can you help me carry Clint out of the room, Clare?
Clare nodded. After some instruction from Akshika, Clare helped her carry Clint out of the room without hurting him in any way. Alan was now alone inside the room.
How could have happened? Unknowingly, Alan once again released his aura. Huddled up in a ball with his eyes closed, he started thinking about how this could have happened.
Alan was in despair. He hurt somebody. Not only this but the person he hurt was somebody who was nice and helpful. Alan was broken. Why had this change happened, and most importantly how would he revert the changes? Alan wanted his normal life back, and he did not want to hurt anybody.
His thoughts were interrupted by the door of the room opening. Alan opened his eyes and saw how the room was filled with ice. There were icicles all over the ceiling, and there was a thick layer of ice on every surface of the room. In the doorway, there were three armed men standing with full body protection and heavy-duty assault rifles.
"Ma'am, we will have to escort you to a separate room due to the harmful nature of your abilities. Please be compliant." Said one of the guards. "Please put your hands over your head,"
Without questioning it, Alan complied. A guard came up to Alan and handcuffed him.
"Why am I handcuffed? Did I do something illegal? Am I a criminal?" Alan asked.
"Of course not, ma'am. That being said, your properties are very dangerous, and to make sure that you do not hurt anybody, we need to restrain you," The guard said. The guards then started escorting Alan outside of the room into another room
So Alan was now considered to be dangerous. It made sense though. He had hurt two people unintentionally, and if he accidentally let out his aura again, he could put many people's lives in danger. But, he didn't see how being handcuffed would help him not hurt anybody.
Doubts started springing up in Alan's mind. He knew that his aura must have been made public news and that he released it when he was unconscious may be known to people as well. That meant that the people who restrained him must have known that doing so would be pointless if they were really trying to help Alan.
Alan started to get worried. What if they wanted him for something else? He had heard of the government experimenting on people with rare conditions many times. On top of this, there were only a few people with abilities like him were in the possession of the United States military. Maybe they wanted him on some sort of special operations team.
These scenarios were unlikely, but definitely possible. It would be unlike the US government to not capitalize on a new species or recourse that could be extremely useful to them.
"We have subject-003 en route to Facility-D. The subject is restrained and is showing no resistance. No backup needed." A guard said quietly on his walkie-talkie, obviously intending it to be not heard by Alan.
But, Alan heard this clearly. Something nefarious was going on.
