"You know, its really interesting how easily our country recovers from a world-changing event like this. I mean, schools aren't probably even shut down," Becca said. "If this had happened when I was a child, our entire country would have stopped running."
"Umm, yeah. I guess," Alan said, puzzled by her sudden change of topics.
"So, Yuki, was it? Mind telling me why you appeared at our doorstep dirty and on the verge of fainting last night?" Becca asked.
Alan flinched. He wasn't too sure whether to trust the person that was talking to him. Becca seemed nice, but there was an eerie vibe to her in general. A vibe that Alan didn't vibe with.
"No need to be nervous, young one. I have no intrest in harming you in any way," Becca said. "I can tell you my story if that would help you trust me," Becca said.
Alan stood up straight. How did she know that he was suspicious of her motives? Did she have some tricks up her sleeve that could expose Alan entirely? This caused him to become further cautious. Alan nodded slowly.
"I never fell asleep last night. I was taking care of my little one because he seemed to be very irritable. My husband is also not in town at the moment, so I usually do not get my good night's sleep anyway," Becca said.
"This was when I felt a chill running through my body and felt it numbing. I eventually could not feel anything from my toes to my head. It was scary, and I thought I was having one of those sleep paralysis things, despite not even being asleep." Becca continued.
Her tone had not shifted a bit since she started talking. She was eerily calm and collected while telling her story. It seemed that she had perfect control of her emotions, or atleast what she showed of them. This further dissilusioned Alan, as he was getting more and more cautious of Becca, despite how nice she had been.
Becca grinned slightly and leaned towards Alan.
"Why are you so scared sweety?" She whispered into Alan's ear.
Alan stood up straight as a shiver ran through his spine. This woman was really freaking him out.
"Ooh, its chilly in here. Is that you, dear?" Becca said, returning to her original position.
"Stay calm, Alan. You have badass ice powers. This middle-aged woman can't even touch you," Alan reassured himslef in his thoughts.
"Thats better," Becca exclaimed, once Alan had calmed down. "Now, let me continue"
"My vision blurred and my mouth felt extremely dry. When my senses had finally recovered, I noticed that everything semmed different. My little one didn't seem to have changed, which is good. I immediatly ran to my daughter's room, where I found her on her bed. Something felt off about her, though I could not spot any visual differences. She swears nothing happened, but I'm not too sure about that." Becca said.
Just then, a doorbell rang. "I'll get that real quick,"
Alan nodded as Becca made her way to the door.
"MOOOOM! SCHOOL WAS CLOSED! WHY DID YOU MAKE ME GO?" Alan heard a girl yell.
"Oh, is that so? I apologize about that, my child. I didn't get any emails or anything that told me that it would be closed," Becca responed, calmly.
"Why are you doing that? You're creeping me out right now, mom," The girl responded.
Suddenly, Alan felt an energy pulate through him. There was indeed something off about this girl. Alan felt the urge to run away from her.
This family was damn scary. A vampire mother that had generally creepy characteristics and a daughter that made Alan want to run for his life.
Becca and the girl made their way to the living room, where Alan was seeted.
"This is my little girl, Anita," Becca said. "Anita, this is Yuki,"
Anita had short black hair with pink streaks. Her skin was clearly darker than her mother's. She seemed to be a little taller than Alan. She was wearing loose fitting dark clothes. "Shit, you are damn pretty, aint ya? How many guys are in your dms?" Anita said, looking at Alan.
"Umm-"
"ANITA! This young lady is our guest. Please watch your words," Becca said. "I apologize about my daughter."
Alan wanted to leave this house.
