As Joey got off the phone with Aurora, the two ambulances on scene drove off, and Aurora came running out of an Uber. Aurora came running in concern, thinking the one in the ambulance was "her" Lucas.
"Joey, what happened?! You told me the plan backfired. Was Lucas was involved, tell me!" Aurora shook Joey harshly, causing Joey to be a bit dizzy.
"Aurora, calm down. I tried to get rid of the Alder girl, but instead, I got Riley hurt. I tried to defame Sophia, but apparently, I got too many witnesses." Joey walked away from Aurora to go light a cigarette.
"I want to really get rid of that bitch, Sophia." Aurora's face showed disdained as she looked down in other disappointment.
"There is a possibility that she might be crippled. One of her legs bent the wrong way when she fell with Riley."
Aurora's face lit up when she heard the possibility Sophia will become a cripple. Believing that Lucas will want nothing more to do than associate himself with a cripple.
Alexander and Jasmine were across the street at a cafe watching from afar. As they watched the whole scene.
"Aurora Gales, is quite intresting. Wasn't she sent away to a psychiatric Unit? I knew that girl looked familar from the party. She took a bullet for Lucas back then but it was on purpose and planned." Alexander read off his phone as he showed Jasmine who sipped on a milkshake.
"Aurora must have a deep hatred for any woman that disturbs the relationship between her and Lucas Carter. How about we make her hate Sophia more." Jasmine explained as she flipped her phone down and looked at Alexander square in the face. "Let's watch her and see what she can come up with."
"Sounds good, we have to keep an eye on the news as well. I don't think Lucas will allow Sophia to be crippled." Alexander countered Jasmine explanation. "So we have to do something to prevent that."
"Like what?" Jasmine questioned then Alexander whispered into Jasmine ear. Jasmine look sinister at the thought of Sophia and Lucas fall but their plan was too perfect. If Sophia needs rehabilitation and is unable to walk they can just push Aurora onto Lucas distract him while Joey get the money from the financial database.
***************At the Hospital**************
"Level 2 trauma alert by ground and Level one trauma alert by air."
The sound of the stretcher wheels were echoing down the trauma section doors as Sophia leg was swelling.
"Possible tib/fib fracture and a closed femur fracture." Replied a doctor as he looked down at Sophia's leg marking pulses and cutting away her clothes as she is wheeled in.
"Doctor, will she be alright?" Exclaimed Lucas as he came into the hospital just in time to see Sophia get wheeled into the OR.
"I'll reassure you, sir, she's in good hands and will be treated with the best equipment we have." As the doctor quickly stated as the door to the OR closes.
Kiara was sitting on a bench waiting for the news to see if Riley was going to be paralyzed, brain damaged, life support...all the terrible things that Kiara could think of. Kiara is greeted with a cold can of chocolate milk to her cheek.
"I'm sure Riley will be alright. We just have to wait on both of them." Lucas handed Kiara the can, and they drink, chatted, and hours went by. People come and go. People mourned and rejoiced in their relatives' conditions. The smell of antiseptic from the disinfectants was getting strong each and every hour.
Finally, Sophia's name was transferred from the OR to the Post Operations charts, and then a room was assigned. However, Riley was still in Post Operations.
"All this over a coffee mug flying towards them and them slipping on the coffee..." Kiara sulked as she glanced at the time it was 5 pm in the afternoon already, and Riley should be in the ICU already.
A doctor came out and happily came up to Kiara and Lucas, giving them hope that their loved ones would be alright.
"Who is for Riley? Her wife?" the doctor stated happily.
"That's me." Kiara said, bewildered by the doctor's good mood.
"Riley will make a full recovery, and she only had a laceration under her hairline that made her bleed. She didn't hurt her neck, which is good, but she broke 2 ribs, which will cause complications. She also has a broken nose.. She will be ok. She is an extremely strong woman."
Kiara burst into tears, and a sigh of relief escaped her lips as she was comforted by Lucas pats on the back.
"How about Sophia?" Lucas looked up at the doctor, who also nodded happily.
"Sophia is going to recover though she might need therapy for a while she will recover. She just earned a femur fracture because before Riley could break her fall her leg bent the wrong way anyways and the tumble cause her femur to take the blow several times but Riley was more severely injuried then Sophia because she kept protecting her but not Sophia's leg it bent several times out of place down the stairs....It's kind of hard to explain..." The doctor scratched the back of her head as she smiled softly. "Overall from such two young ladies to fall down your company stairs which equally 2 flights...they are lucky to not be paralyzed or permanently crippled."
Lucas breathed a sigh of relief and then looked back up at the doctor. "Is it OK to go see them in the ICU?"
"Of course, follow me. Visiting hours are until 8. Give Sophia two weeks to recover, and then she'll go home. She must rest until week 12 for therapy. As for Riley, she will need more extensive surgeries for her nose and ribs."
"It's my fault, Kiara. I will give Riley a full year of leave with pay." Lucas looked at Kiara, who was still in tears of just hearing Riley, who would have no permanent damage to her brain or spinal cord.
All that can be heard is Kiara's sobs of joy as her and Lucas go to the ICU.
