Chapter 22 - Chapter 21. *Honestly what is even going on anymore?!*

Louis.

Would you rather..., eat a spider or kill a puppy?"

"Damn, those are some dark choices." Killian states.

"The harder the question, the more interesting the answer Killian" I say with a smirk.

"Stop trying to sound so mischievous Lou"

"Well, what about you Nevaeh? What would you choose?"

"Easy. Eat the arachnid." Nevaeh answers bluntly.

"Oof, not even a hint of hesitation."

"I mean, why wouldn't you eat the spider?"

"You have a point." Killian asserts.

"Hey why don't you guys play against each other this round?"

"I mean I don't really know how to play." Nevaeh replies.

"All you gotta do is dance and match the moves on the screen. The game's called Just Dance 2019." I tell her.

I can tell she definitely doesn't want to play, because she's been glancing towards the door this entire conversation. I've been in enough tiring conversations to know what it looks like when someone is measuring the distance between the door and yourself.

"I mean unless you're intimated by me, because you know you'll lose." Killian challenges.

"That's not at all what I'm thinking. I'm not going to be goaded into playing with you."

"Oh okay, I see. I get it."

"Get what."

"It alright, I totally one hundred percent get it."

"Okay I have no idea what you are insinuating."

"Wow, you have such a bold vocabulary. Such a shame you don't make any bold moves." Killian goads as he inches towards Nevaeh.

"Excuse you. You have absolutely no idea what kind of moves I make or not." She says as she faces him fully.

"Yea, you're right I only know what I observe though. And based off of what I've seen so far..." He trails off.

"Fine. You know what. I'll kick your ass in this, and everything else you egotistical lover boy."

"I don't see a problem in loving oneself. Also if I'm a lover boy then by all means luv, feel free to fall for my charms." By this point, they're so close to each other that I bet they could share a breath.

"Um, hate to break this scene up but what is this exactly?" I say pointing in between them. The moment shatters and they both back up, and look away.

"I mean like, what is going on with you both? Killian you know the rules especially with her."

"What do you mean? Why especially with me?" Nevaeh asks.

I look over to Killian, and his face goes pale.

"Hello... What do you mean, especially with me?!" Nevaeh questions, now standing between Killian and I.

Nevaeh.

"Okay so, there's a reason that you're here."

"Yea I know, to be apart of a community separate from the society or something." I answer.

"Well yes, that's a reason. Not the reason." Louis explains. "You wanna explain this to her Killian or should I go on?"

"Explain what."

"You might want to sit for this." Killian finally says.

Evie.

"Alright, so let's go over it one more time." Cass says.

"First things first, Cassius, you are in charge of figuring out how in the absolute hell we're getting off this ship. Basically transportation. O' you're in charge of getting all the supplies, so food, gear, fuel or anything else that we're gonna need for the trip. And I..."

"Am on surveillance." I cut in.

"Yes Cass, I have to make sure the staff doesn't catch on to anything. So, my job is just getting them to focus their attention on me."

"Wait, so that's it?" Ollie asks.

The concerned look on his face makes it clear that he has doubts. Cass, and O' are both sitting across from me. On the other side of the floor, is the blueprint of the ship and its route, in between us.

I get up and head over to the fridge and grab another drink, while Cass tries to assure Ollie.

"Listen O', we can do this. If anything, Nevaeh is probably coming up with a plan on her own as well. Which means that landing in the barrier city on blue is still our best shot."

"I know, but Cass we've never seen the entire coalition on tour and on top of that if we do this...You know what it would mean. Treason. We would be ostracized from the only community we've ever known."

I look down, "I mean you're right about the treason part. None of us has ever seen or heard of anyone committing treason. Matter of fact no one even says anything remotely against the society at all."

"You're both right. It isn't just risky, it's downright insane. But you both know we don't have a real choice here. We have to get Nevaeh back, no matter what. The way I see it this is the only way we can get her back." I retort.

As much as it pains me to say it he's right.

"Fine. I'm in." Ollie says resolved.

"Alright, okay, it's not like I never said I was gonna do it anyway. After all one should never back a decision based off of fear."

"Uh huh, sure thing Einstein." Ollie mocks.

"Actually it was an Obama quote." I affirm.

"Don't know who that is, but you obviously know your shit so... I'll just shut up." Ollie smirks.

"Highly doubt it, but a nice sentiment. Sounded very close to an apology there."

"You wish."

Nevaeh.

"So let me get this correct. My parents who are dead, co founded the grey society but because things went wrong they created a rebellion to destroy the same society they built." I repeat.

"Well, more or less..." Leyva answers.

Killian and Louis both took me to the medic station before they told everything. Leyva was obviously against the idea on telling me but Killian and Louis talked to her before sitting down. They were whispering a whole lot until Louis walked off and they sat me down.

"Wait, so why?" I ask.

The one question that I really want answered. Why did they start all of this?

Leyva with a sad smile, held my hand. "Because, they believed in the truth Nevaeh. And no matter how badly they wanted to just let things be, they couldn't live with the idea of being parents that ignored something that wasn't right. They wanted to be good role models. Your parents were good people. Trust me, good was and still is a very rare concept."

"For sure. So is that all of it? No more secrets?"

"Umm-"

Killian rushes in right as she's about to continue.

"There's a lot more Nevaeh."

"Killian."

"She needs to know now Ley."

"We agreed we would ease her into all of this."

Ley gets up and moves in front of the entrance. Staring intently at Killian.

"Killian, we agreed-"

"There isn't time Ley."

They both stay frozen in place with stern looks on their faces. Until Ley just gives up and walks out, mumbling as she goes.

"Nevaeh." I look at Killian.

"What I'm about to tell you is probably going to confuse the hell out of you. But you need to know." He glances to the ground and when he faces me again his face has gone soft.

"Before your parents died, they made sure the Grey didn't know you existed. So they erased your memories and managed to sneak you in with other kids. That wasn't the end of it though, because your parents also made sure that you wouldn't be alone."

"The last part totally went to shit then huh." I scoff.

"No, Nevaeh they made sure you weren't alone. The whole reason, you're here...the people who told me to bring you here..."

Louis walks in, and two women close behind.

Both are wearing identical clothing, dressed head to toe in tan pants and shirts. The first lady has curly short white hair cut at the base of her face. The second has the exact opposite, with long curly black hair that extends down to her waist. Side by Sid they look as though they are two opposite sides of a coin. When both women turn to look at me, their eyes light up, both literally and figuratively.

"Nevaeh, these are-"

"We are your aunties dearie."

"Um, what?"
