Chereads / Vera Woods / Chapter 2 - 2 THE NEW GIRL

Chapter 2 - 2 THE NEW GIRL

Vera tried calming herself down before entering her new school. She locked her car and started heading in. There were several students outside the school-it seemed like they were waiting for others, she thought to herself. As she passed by, everyone had given her a glance. She felt oddly insecure of herself in her situation- which she has never before. As soon as she entered into the school, she tried finding the main office. Her school was much bigger than this. Here, she felt cramped. As she was staring straight in front of her, she accidentally bumped into someone. She turned around to see who fell on the floor.

"Oh I'm sorry," Vera apologizes. It was a girl- she was wearing a plaid skirt and a very short shirt. Not much makeup caked on her face. She seemed natural. The girl on the floor starts glaring at Vera and Vera gets confused.

"Sorry isn't going to help! You better watch out new girl," the girl on the floor hissed. Vera thought how she has already made a bad impression! But how could a girl like her be so rude? "I already apologized and please stop watching me like that. You look like a creep," Vera shuddered a bit. She felt uncomfortable by the girl's presence. But a few snickers rose from the crowd. Vera has completely forgotten that people were now surrounded by them. The girl got up from the floor and scoffed, walking away. Vera was still confused but just shrugged. A few minutes later, Vera finally found the main office and she asked the lady upfront about her schedule and locker. "Your name?" the lady asks.

"Vera Woods," she smiles at her. The lady nods and takes out a folder that was filled with paper. "Here is the school map, your locker, and combination, and your schedule. Inside your locker, your P.E. clothing is already inside," the lady assures her and hands her all the papers. Vera suddenly shivered, P.E. outfit?! She hated assigned clothing. She grumbled to herself. She then checked her locker number, 453. It must've been on the fourth floor so she went there. After finding her locker several minutes later, she noticed that everyone had kept given her glances, this was all strange to her because, in her old school, people would practically praise her and compliment her. When she opened her locker, there sat blue navy shorts that were a bit shorter than mid-thigh and a white long sleeve which had the school's crest on it. She looked at it in disgust. This is so gross, she thought to herself.

She put her tote bag in her locker and brought out the supplies she would need for her next classes this morning. While shutting her locker, she noticed that the girl she had accidentally bumped into was right in front of her. And noticed that everyone had suddenly disappeared to their next classes. "Can you please move? I'm going to be late for my class," Vera fake smiled at the girl glaring at her while crossing her arms. The girl was now clearly fuming with anger, who does she think she is? The girl wondered.

The girl rolled her eyes, "Listen here, newbie. You might be new here but no one treats me like that. So you better watch your back if you don't want to face the wrath of me," she chuckles evilly.

But Vera just cringed, "You should know this by now but no one crosses my line. So you should be the one watching your back. Don't f*cking talk to me anymore if you're just going to stand here and think that you're the boss of me." The girl was clearly taken back, no one spoke back to her.

"Seriously? Do you think you can walk up to this school thinking you're rich with all that clothing you have on? Think again, didn't your family company go bankrupt, you poor little b*tch," the girl pouts fakely.

At this point Vera has had enough with her, so she walked away. How dare someone had brought up the subject of her family's company?! She couldn't even stand the thought of living in a home that was less than two hundred thousand dollars. And her current home was drastically lower than that amount. Vera thought of how the universe would do this to her. What had she done so wrong? Maybe she was always a bit stubborn, snobby, but after all she still cared deep inside.

Sighing, she went to look for her first class. Geometry. One thing you should always know about her is that she despises math. A lot.

Walking into her class, which she was definitely late for has earned a lot of stares.

"Who are you?" The old man who Vera was assuming, the teacher asked. "Vera Woods," she smiled.

"Take a seat," he flat tone. That was it? Wasn't he going to ask for an introduction of her? Sadly, Vera was disappointed at the teacher's reaction but nonetheless, she still maintained a happy image.

Since there was only one seat left, she decided to sit next to a random guy. "Hi, I'm Vera!" She introduced herself to the guy sitting next to her. The guy turned around-Vera was definitely mesmerized, the way his deep stone, grey eyes stared deeply into Vera's plain brown ones. But his eyes didn't show any light at all-rather he was lifeless. Vera observes him. The boy had dark brown which almost could be mistaken for black hair. It was styled a bit messy but it still made him look attractive. His symmetrical face was absolutely astonishing. Her gaze moved onto the little freckles he had on his nose and a little on his cheeks. And his soft-looking pink plump lips looked absolutely inviting. Vera didn't have to even look but knew he was y'all and muscular. He was the most gorgeous guy she's ever met.

While the guy just stared at her. "I know," he replies back boredly. Had Vera done something wrong? He seemed so uninterested which gave Vera an uneasy feeling. He then turned his attention back to the teacher who was speaking. Vera hates math anyway so she didn't bother listen and continued to ask the mysterious, attractive guy, "What's your name?" She chirps.

Without even looking at her when replying, he says, "Jaxon." His voice showed no emotion except an icy tone. Vera finally getting the hint, she turned back around to not bother him anymore, she felt rejected for the first time in her life. But mostly, disappointed.
