Vera Woods had never felt rejection. Never once in her life. So why was it different now? She attended all her morning classes, so she was now heading to the cafeteria with long strides.
Panic immediately fills her mind, who was she sitting with? She didn't want to be a loner, her reputation was too important for that! She scanned the cafeteria once she got there. She thought that it was definitely smaller than the one at her other school. Finding a group of girls, she approaches them, "Hi, I'm Vera. Can I sit here?" she smiles.
But the smile was quickly wiped out her face, "We know who you are," one of the girls make a disgusted face. What was their problem?
"So can I sit here?" Vera repeats.
"No," another girl says in a monotone.
The next thing she felt was embarrassment. Again, there was a rejection feeling. She quickly turned around, not wanting to jeopardize her reputation anymore, she found an empty seat to sit. Well, that was until her eyes landed on Jaxon, he was eating an apple and reading a book on one hand. He was sitting at a table in the back by himself while girls glanced at him from time to time.
Not giving it a second thought, Vera decided to sit next to him so she walks towards him. "Can I sit here?" she asks politely- the first impression was important. Well, more like second impression by now.
Not even giving her a glance, he replies, "No."
Why was everyone so rude? She decided to still sit next to him while girls around them had surprised reactions plastered on their faces. "Why the f*ck are you even sitting here?" Jaxon curses and looked very annoyed.
Shocked by his reaction, she suddenly gets nervous. "U-um I-," she stutters.
"You know what? I don't give a sh*t," he gets up from his seat and finds another table to sit at. And that alone made Vera's jaw drop. Literally.
And he even looked hot being mad, she thought. No, Vera! It's not the time to think about that!

By the time Vera got out of school, she was tired and exhausted. Heading to her car, she tried starting it. Key word tried. What the hell was wrong now? She slammed her car door angrily while checking around her car.
Slashed tires, she observed. Who did this and why? She suddenly felt wet drops on her arm.
It was now raining! How would she even get home? She stood by the entrance of the school trying to contact her parents or brother but none of them answered. Soon, the rain was heavier and it was a warning, a hurricane was about to approach. She got an amber alert on her phone when it was vibrating.
No, no please don't! Her phone was almost out of battery, she regretted not charging it yesterday.
She couldn't get home in her car, so she needed to walk. A step into the rain, she was suddenly soaked. Oh god, how was this going to work? A few minutes later, she keeps walking down the unfamiliar streets. And that was when she realized that she was lost.
Lost! And her phone had died a minute ago. This was the worst day ever, she thought.
A car suddenly honks at her making her turn around. With a few feet away from the car, she looks to see who it was through the car window.
Jaxon?
