Chapter 170 - CHAPTER 169: A single drop of blood.

It did not take long for me to find Leonor. As soon as I saw her, I rushed towards her while still carrying the screaming child.

"Hello Leonor. So, I was wondering if you would like to help with keeping this little human alive?" I could have asked the question a lot better. But my poor wording was easily overshadowed by my voice.

She blushed and looked at the crying baby that I was holding. I could hear how her heartbeat sped up when she spoke. "Really? I mean yea sure. Just know that I don't have much experience with children either."

I smiled and handed the little boy to her. "That doesn't matter. Please hold him because I am sure that I am scaring him."

And as I had suspected the child stopped screaming. Human children have pretty bad eyesight when they are just born and the intelligence to match. Once he could no longer see the black claws that were holding him and was carefully placed in the arm of a human, he thought that he was no longer in danger.

I sighed in relief when my ears were no longer tormented by the screaming baby. Leonor looked at me with a questioning look in response. "I thought demons enjoyed terror filled screams of humans."

"Whoever gave you that idea is an incredible idiot. I can hear your heart beating within a fifty-meter radius, probably even more if it is quiet. Can you imagine how loud the screams of that thing is to me? if you had not agreed on heling me with him and if he had not stopped screaming within half an hour, I would probably have eaten him."

She froze for a moment. "Well… you luckily don't have to eat any babies now."

"Maybe I will just eat that child later if I feel like it." I spoke with a mocking grin on my face. "But now, lets first try to feed him some of the residue of the eggs. It is only a matter of time before he gets hungry and starts screaming again."

With that we tried to collect some of the nontoxic parts of the eggs for the child. Leonor had decided to call the child Zosimos. It was the name of an alchemist from her world. Since the both of us didn't have last names and I was not interested in finding out if the child's father had one, we left it at that.

Because the child was not really used to me already and I did not need to be verry close for my presence to affect him, I decided to wander off for a while and do a little experiment. This way the child could get used to me without getting too scared. And hopefully without him screaming my ears off.

All the other humans were trying to make sense of the world around them or were trying to make plans of what to do next. In other words, no one had taken the time to properly bury the body of the mother. Not even her husband.

So, I walked to the sea and tried to manipulate some of the water. Tough it wasn't perfect and small droplets of salt sea water dripped down the floating sphere of water that I created, I had finally managed to control water.

As I walked back to the corpse of the woman, Quetzalcoatl curiously followed me.

I sat down next to the corpse and bit my hand. I barely managed to let a single drop of blood fall into the water before the wound healed again. but this was enough for now.

As soon as the blood toughed the water it turned dark and was indistinguishable from the rest of my blood. After which the colour soon faded, and humans would no loner be able to tell that the drop of was in there to begin with. Tough I could smell it, and I was curtain that other demons would be able to smell it too.

Now that the colour had disappeared, I let a single drop of the mixture fall into the mouth of the dead woman. Back when Leonor came in contact with my blood I had to cut of her arm before the infection spread. But now the blood was not concentrated. I just hoped that I watered the blood down enough to see what would happen if it was not rotting the flesh away.

A lot of people would find it impolite for me to play around with someone who had just died. Especially since she died giving birth. But no one dared to come close enough to stop me. and even if they did, what could they possibly do?

But to my displeasure, the differences between this woman and Leonor was not that magnificent.

Even tough the body was not alive anymore, black veins started to spread all throughout the flesh and the skin turned dark grey. The only difference was that some bones started to shift and grow along with the elongation of the teeth and fingernails. But these were still barely noticeable and were soon stopped by the breaking down of the body.

I was quite disappointed in myself since I had not mixed in enough water to see the final result before my blood basically made the body rot away.

Since I would not get another chance like this without angering anyone, I cared abut I felt quite frustrated.

I crushed what remained of the body with my feet and walked away.

But when I had only taken a few steps, I heard something odd.it was a soft ripping notice.

Worried about what had happened I turned around to stop whatever was going on. Tough I was only just in time to see Quetzalcoatl swallow some of what was left of the human.
