Chapter 106 - CHAPTER 105: that one legendary monster.

They kept visiting me almost everyday for a few weeks and I would occasionally cooperate with the dwarf to fix all the errors in the security system. And to my luck none had asked about Gert. They all knew what he had done and thus no longer wanted to talk about him. Therefore, as long as no one brought him up no one would know what I had done in return.

The only downside was that it would get harder for me to remain unnoticed and to eventually leave.

Tough I was not planning to leave; I would get discovered eventually. And when that time comes, I have to make sure that those I care about won't get killed like last time.

I sighed as I was playing with the crystal that the dwarf had brought with him for testing. I was sitting in the room with the stone chair. Only the dwarf was with me at this moment. All the others still had their regular jobs, even Noah and Beatrice.

The dwarf was the only one who could go where he wanted when he wanted. As long as he claimed that it was for research. And technically, he was not lying.

He was sitting close to a larger crystal that he would often move further or closer away from me. each time he did that he made some notes and then continued with his work. he also had some sort of moss that let out a faint humming noise when it was exposed to light. His theory was that if he could enhance the crystals enough to shine brighter the moss would make a lot of noise. Thus, acting as a backup in case there were demons that could use illusions like me.

He looked up at me. "Is something wrong?"

"No, it is just that I am stuck here and the only roads that I can follow are not in my favour."

"Then you are not stuck."

"No, I am. Since I don't want to follow those paths."

The now slightly annoyed dwarf crossed his arms. "Alright kid, explain. I can't give you my amazing life advice when I have no idea what is on your mind."

I narrowed my eyes and slammed my tail on the ground. The loud echo that could be compared to the sound of thunder busted through the nearly empty room.

"You still call me a kid?!"

But the dwarf just stood there with a wide smug on his face. "you can't scare me kid. I have seen monsters much worse than you. Besides, if you really were going to do anything. You would have already bitten my arm of back in Agartha.so just tell me what is on your mind."

Tough I was really annoyed. I knew that he was right.

"Fine. What I mean is that if I do nothing people will eventually find me. whether I help with the security or not, it is only a matter of time. Getting out of this place is way harder than getting in so that will not be an option. And if I try to attack. tough I am not planning to do that. I will lose. While I am stronger now than I was back then, this place is built to withstand the might of thousands of demons. And I am alone."

The dwarf frowned as he seemed to think of something.

"That is indeed a problem. I don't think that I can smooth talk the elders of this place as I did with the leaders of Agartha. Maybe I can find something that blocks your presence, or something that disables the crystals in your area. It would be harder for people to find you that way."

"Even if you succeed in making something like that. What can I do? Sure, it would help me get out of here. but the people on the surface are all fleeing to places like this or they will die. Therefore, there will not be much to do for me there. And here I have to hide otherwise they will probably bury me alive in a mountain of salt."

I leaned back in the stone chair while carelessly tossing the red glowing crystal around.

"First of all, that situation is super unrealistic. I doubt that at this point salt will do anything to you. It is just something used to keep lesser demons and monster out. As for what you can do. You can always become that one legendary monster that lives somewhere in the ruins and have people come to you as their last option. And you then you can, fulfil their request in return of some really high price that was not wort your actions. Or you can just help me."

The dwarf spoke in such a way that made it impossible for me to determine if he was joking or not.

"The first one is out of the question. I will not do that."

"You sure? I can even help you spread rumours."

"No, I am sure."

"What a shame. I would personally think that it is hilarious."

I wanted to say something in response. However, a weird noise that seemed so far, jet so close caught my attention.
