I wandered mindlessly over the dark, broken landscape, killing everything that came close.
But no matter how much blood I spilled; it could never satisfy my hatred.
As I made my way across the twisted plains of the inferno, I realised that it was different somehow. It may be because I travelled further this time, but there were structures and trees that I didn't recognise.
Tough it wasn't that rare to spot a building or a tree here. It just seemed out of place. they were too normal, yet partially covered in the disgusting dark brown fungus that corrupted everything around it.
Only this time, the infection was retreating. It was dying off.
I thought that it was weird. ("If it can't survive here, how did it come here in the first place?")
There were only a few conclusions that I could come up with. The corruption simply can't survive for long as the demon who created it was no longer there. Two, it reached a certain stage where it was simply too big to sustain itself. Three, it was never meant to be here in the first place.
The last one worried me the most. if it was never meant to survive in hell, then how did it get here? That accompanied with the flora and buildings that seemed out of place made me come up with a simple yet terrifying answer.
This place wasn't hell.
Or at least it wasn't hell just yet. It had only recently been adapted in this crooked environment and was still in the proses of fully submerging itself in it.
The corruption only served as bridges that would allow worlds to reach hell and merge with it. Once its purpose had been served it no longer had a reason for existing and simply dissolved itself.
As for the humans or other creatures that were dragged down here. They were not completely corroded like these trees. Those creatures were still alive and retained some of their former function. The corruption had yet to finish its purpose.
But instead of spreading through worlds and infecting other things; the demons dragged them down here to use them as toys.
I landed on top of a roof.
The building was fragile and slightly crumbling under my weight.
I looked out upon the unfamiliar land.
The corroded stone buildings stretched out seemingly endless in front of me.
The trees, now leafless and dead blended in perfectly with the environment.
It made me wonder. Surely, the thing that commanded all the demons to corrupt other worlds would know that it would eventually merge together with this plain of existence. So why did it want to merge all the worlds together?
I glided down and landed on the street. The stone was warm due to the many fires that burned around here. Tough I did not like fires in particular, it made me feel rather comfortable.
I walked through the street, curious for any traces that were left behind by this former world.
But to my disappointed, nothing was left behind. And there were already some demons that were like me, exploring the ruins of this fallen world.
I now knew that these were mostly ifrits. Tough they weren't a specific species of demons there were still variants such as ifriya and ifr.
They were a powerful demon type that often-inhabited ruins or temples. They were also associated with smoke, fire and the dead. They were frequently seen, wandering graveyards or places where a lot of people died.
I knew better than to blindly attack them.
The first time I tried the ifrit cried out for the help of a marid. Another type of powerful demon that does the exact opposite of what you ask it to. Due to that they are easy to manipulate.
I decided to just ignore them for now and turned around.
