Chapter 3 - Battle with a Beast

More than once Alora had to stop due to the pain shooting up her leg's from her bloody feet upon looking down at them she could see that no longer was the blood simply seeping from the open wounds but was now poring leaving a rather startling trail behind her but still she forced, herself on looking for this path the beast told her that would lead her safely down the mountain and away from the village pushing her way past more tree's and over grown shrubs and other kinds of planets she staggered out into a clearing near one of the vein like streams she had seen while clasped in the beasts talons making her way towards it to tend to her painful and bloody feet though it would do them no good and only cause her more pain but if she was going to find this path and make her way down, this mountain then she was going to have to try and remove some of the dirt and grit that had become stuck to them birds suddenly darting from the tree's caused her to pause just like the pain shooting up her leg's had done, as it was not clear as to what startled them but no tree or over grown shrub shook or crunched under something's foot.

"Can't blame them for being skittish" Alora muttered as she crouched down scooping up the water in her hands before allowing it to fall over her feet causing her to hiss as dirt grit and blood was washed away from her feet.

Though if Alora had dared to glance behind her once more she would of caught sight of what had caused the birds to dart into the sky and she to would of surely followed them if she had wings of her own for this beast though not as large as the one who brought her here and neither could it breath fire but fearsome it was due to it being much larger than any normal cat that any human would ever come across on the lands below though it's fangs and claws were just as sharp but three time's as long and in place of fur it had tight bat like skin that was just as hard as a dragons hide, as for it's eye's it neither had one or two like most animal's instead it had three on each side which were as yellow as the most yellow dandelion and it went by no normal name either which people would give most cat's no this beast was from a world long forgotten and went by Tomb-talon due to whoever crossed it's path be it man or beast would find themselves six feet under the ground once it was through with them, it had been drawn from it's home among the root's of tree's by the scent of blood Alora's blood and since human flesh was such a rare treat it was't rushing no it would stalk and wait and wait in till it was the right time to strike and as it's meal rose to it's injured feet it began to follow once again.

Wading through the vein like stream that only reached up to her knee's Alora forced herself to keep heading west unaware of the danger that was following her every step every drop of blood that dripped even more freely onto the ground waiting for it's moment to strike and feast on her flesh while over head also unknown to her was an other waiting to strike though he had no intention of feeding on human flesh, finally after what seemed like hours of pushing even more tree's and over grown shrubs aside she found the path that the beast told her that would lead her down the mountain granted it was steep and rock which would make it difficult for someone who's feet were't bloody but there was no other choice, just like how she'd gotten down from the moss covered mound she'd been placed on by the beast that brought her here she stretched out her leg to reach the first rocky and her, bloody foot had just about touched it when something sharp scrapped along the skin of her back causing her to scream in pain and for more blood to stain the ground as it dragged her along the ground at first her mind went to the dragon but when it let go of her, granted only for a second due to a well placed bloody foot it allowed her to see it by twisting herself around onto her front in spite of the pain it caused her voice caught in her throat at cat like beast in front of her since she had't seen anything like it before and with no weapon this was it for her, that was in till a burst of flames shot down from overhead engulfing not only the green of the tree's and ground but the beast before it could get to her again.

Drayce had not see the Tomb-talon latch onto Alora due to the thickness of the tree's but he did hear her cry out causing anger and rage to boil inside of him which allowed him to unleash flames that could burn this heavenly place that he called home to ash in a blink of an eye but what choice did he have, hearing the painful cries of the beast he tucked his wings close to his body and dropped to the ground landing with a thud due to his flames also cutting through the thickness of the trees no more than a step or two away from where Alora now lay relief swept through him seeing that even though she now had wounds as deep as the one's on her feet to her back she was alive turning his attention back to the Tomb-talon as the flames that engulfed it died they began to die it stood there almost unscathed by the flames due to it's hard skin it did't mean that it was still a threat for it's kind were once known for it's relentless drive when it came to food and like a flash of lighting it moved just like if it could see, it's claws ripping into any part of him it could reach rearing up onto his back leg's he manged to sink his own fangs onto one of it's back leg's and drag it off of his back but since it had sunk it's claw deeply into his scales it caused blood to pore from his side as it let out a pain filled cry though it did not stop it from getting it's own back by sinking it's fangs into his neck forcing him to let go of it as it hit the ground and seemed to lay there only for a second before it forced itself back up onto it's feet and limped away to fight an other day while Drayce lowered himself back onto all fours warn out and injured he turned his attention back to Alora who at some point during the fight had forced herself back up onto her feet and just stared at him with a look of complete disbelief on her face.

Since she'd been a small child Alora had been told nothing but nightmarish stories of Dragons that burned villages to nothing but ash along with those who called it home they had always kept her up at night just like every other child so she had no reason to see them any other way as monsters of beasts that lived for nothing more than destruction who could only be appeased by offering them up a woman to them every so often to keep such thing's from happening but right now before her very eye's was a dragon who not only saved her from having her throat slit by her fellow villagers for not wanting to be an offering but showed her more kindness than she'd been shown in her whole life and put his life on the line to save her from in all words a true monster so was it possible that everything she had been told as a child and lead to believe about dragons was wrong? glancing back at the path that would of lead her safely down the mountain she knew that the answer, to this new question would't be found among her own kind so she turned her attention back to the wounded dragon in front of her and very slowly took unsteady steps, towards him and with an out stretched hand that shook ever so slight and touched the side of his face in a wordless thanks for what he had done before collapsing due to the new wounds to her back.
