She was back in the village. Her and Chase were in their bar, kissing. The waitress came and asked them if they wanted a table or room, as usual, Alexis smiled, and asked for a table, Chase asked for a room.
The room turned out to be the same cell that she was in months before, the day she had broken up with Chase.
It was no longer warm like the bar, but freezing. She looked out the bars to see Chase marrying another woman, Brazillia. Then they were making out and laughing at the figure in the cell. They stomped into the forest, dragging her behind setting fire to her hut and throwing her back inside. Chase stood with his new bride, and Alexis was crying.
"chase what are you doing?"
She said, her skin blistering,
"I need a queen, and why would i choose you." he said cruelly, his voice sounded exactly like his step fathers.
Alexis gasped awake, covered in a cold sweat. she sighed and sank back. Just a dream, just a dream. She left her hut and pulled the white sheets from the top, taking them with her to the river, along with her sewing kit.
She took off her old white shift dress, and got into the water. after washing, she sat on the bank, sewing her new clothes. ten minutes later, she dressed into her white T-shirt dress, bundling her sewing kit into her old shift dress. And walked back, thinking. She often has dreams about Chase, but what could she do? They broke up four months ago.
He did need a queen, and he would have to marry soon. it didn't really matter to her. She hasn't seen him for so long, they probably though she wasn't coming back. Maybe that was why the search party's stopped. She hadn't seen one for weeks. Suddenly, several birds flew ahead, then split into different directions. This wasn't an irregular thing to happen but Alexis knew that they were messenger birds, from the kingdom. She picked up one of the long daggers she had as weapons, and threw it at ones of the birds. Two months ago, there was no way she would get it. Now, after practicing everyday, there was no way she would miss it, so as she expected, the bird dropped to the ground. She went to pick it up, and took it back to her camp, settling in front of the fire. The letter read:
To the kingdom of Londana,
King Chastos James Allegro had fallen ill, we request your service and healers to heal for us.
Sincerely, professor Hartreach, mailmanager, Venelumbia.
Alexis groaned. Chase was sick. If our healers couldn't do anything, then what chance did others have? But Alexis would try. She had learned a bit about herbs and she would have to try. So she put all the herbs and leaves she had collected and piled them in the corner, then she picked up her extra white sheet, which she had sewn several pockets on, and wrapped it around her like a cloak. She put the herbs in the pockets, picked up her machetes and was about to leave, but paused. They would recognise her. Not easily, though. Because of the sun, Her hair was now almost blond, and her skin was bronze. But maybe...
She picked up her machete, held her hair into a ponytail, and cut just beneath where she was holding.
Her hair was now just above her collarbone, and she raked it with her fingers once again before putting away her daggers. She put out the fire, filled her flask with water, packed her sewing kit and the last remains of soup and dried meat and fruit. Deciding not to waste it, she cut the messenger bird into strips and fryed them over the still hot embers, stuffing them in the larger pouch with the rest of the food. Then she left. She knew the way back to the kingdom and once lived in, because she though about the direction chase was in most of the time.
Now that he was sick he would probably stay in the castle. Alexis sped up a little. She really did run far that time she went into the forest, because it was about two hours until she got back. Thank goodness she had washed the night before, or it would have been obvious she had lived in a forest. As soon as the left the trees, Alexis gasped. The upper section looked the same, only it was a lot more busy, but the lower section was no longer in ruins. the houses were properly built, but still small, and there were shops as well as markets. she saw rose leaving the cemetery in the upper section, and quickly pulled her hood up. But Rose ignored the figure in white, and wiped her eyes, staring at the ground as she walked. Alexis walked into the cemetery her old friend had just left and saw a marble grave that she knew wasn't there before. She read it, her heart sinking.
"Alexis Volstera, twenty two years of age, death date: unknown, birth date: 18/10/2240"
Alexis closed her eyes. They thought she'd was dead. She looked down at the flowers lain on the graves. Some were new, some were old and dying. She sighed and turned to leave, continuing to the castle. The drawbridge was open and two guards stood there. She greeted to walk through but was stopped.
"what is your business here?" one said.
"I have come as a healer for Ch- for the King." she said, or she tried to say, but her voice hadn't been used for months so all that came out was a hoarse, croaking sound. Alexis sighed and pulled out the letter from the bird, showing them.
"yes sir, follow here please," he says pointing in the castle doors. She was going to correct him, but decided against it. It would be better if they didn't recognize her as a woman. She walked through the front doors, to the throne room the guard had pointed her towards, and waited with other healers, all of which were probably real. So they stood and waited for the queen to come in.
