Alexis leaned against the door and shut her eyes. This whole rebellion operation would have to move a lot faster if Brazillia thought he was cheating on her. Which he kind of was, but that didn't matter. She saw a passing maid and stopped them, ignoring their terrified look and held up her paper
Why are the king and queen arguing?
The maid looked like she wanted to dissapear and shrugged uncomfortably. Alexis raised her eyebrow from under her mask and the maid took a deep breath
"the king was caught with someone else." Alexis took a breath and nodded
Who?
"I'm not sure. No one really saw who it was." she said and avoided her eyes.
Alexis nodded and the maid scurried off. Chase and Brazillia were still arguing and Alexis didn't want to hear it. She knocked on the door and the voices immediately ceased.
"just a moment!" Brazillia called and then chase replied angrily
"Brazillia, you can't decide who does or doesn't enters my chambers!"
"our chambers, you mean-"
"no! My chambers. You have your own. Come in!" Chase said and Alexis adjusted her face cover before stepping in to the room.
Brazillia was sitting on the bed and Chase was standing by the window with and angry expression on his face. But that softened as soon as he saw Alexis, and the queen scoffed.
"seriously? You go behind my back with the peasant, cheat on me with some villager, then flirt with the healer! This is
disgusting." Brazillia said and got off the bed, walking over to her.
"I'm so sorry, just ignore him, he's unfaithful but it's fine. It's totally fine!" she said and glared at Chase at the end of her sentence. Chase rolled his eyes. Brazillia walked out of the room and slammed the door shut after her. Chase sighed again and turned to her.
"sorry about that. She's just...."
Alexis pulled down her face wrap and smiled.
"it's okay. Ignore her."
She said and Chase shrugged
"we got caught. That's not really okay. I'm supposed to be the king. She's putting out an image of me being unfaithful and a bad ruler, and she's taking over."
"not for long." Alexis said and he raised his eyebrow
"were starting a rebellion"
Pause.
"Alexis no you are not." he said shaking his head and Alexis held her own higher
"yes, I am! And I'm not alone. There's at least ten thousand people that want to join me." she said and Chase sighed, sitting down on the chair.
"why? Why would you do that, what's the point?" he said and Alexis crossed her arms.
"really? What's the point? Chase, she's trying to put up the wall again, she's trying to take control of the kingdom, and she's tried to kill me! Does that mean nothing to you?
"she... She tried to- what?" he said and she shook her head, not meaning to tell him that.
"Uh- no, nothing don't worry." Alexis said, stepping back to try and reverse the damage. Chase moved forwards and grabbed her hand.
"Alexis what do you mean?" he said, and his eyes were filled with concern.
"um, she maybe faked my death?" Alexis said and cringed
"WHAT!" he cried, "I am going to kill her! how is she the queen?" he exclaimed and she held onto his arm as he headed to the door.
"no! You can't!" she said, panicked and he looked at her, uncertainty now filling his still angry eyes.
"what do you mean no? I thought you would have been the most okay with leaving her!" he said, anger growing more.
"I want you to, it's just-"
"what, is there something I don't know, Alexis? Do you need to tell me something because I don't want someone like her with the power to do whatever she wants around here." he said coldly and she flinched at the iciness in his tone.
"of course I want you to, Chase, but people are already assuming things, if you even try divorce, or do anything against the normal, it just confirms the rumors." Alexis pleaded with him and he looked distant.
"the old you didn't care about the rumors." he said dejectedly, and she feared she was losing him again.
"that's not all we have to think about, if you divorce her, nothing happens, remember? She's still Queen and your still King untill she is thrown out and a new queen is appointed, or untill leading authority gets married once again, so unless she gets thrown off, even if you divorce her and then remarry she will still be queen. Okay, chase that fixes nothing!" Alexis said fiercely and his anger faded for a second.
"you always could remember that stupid rule book." he said, smiling and she shook her head.
"that's not important right now Chase. Please don't do anything crazy with Brazillia, okay?" Alexis begged him and he sighed, slipping his hand down to hold her own.
"I just, every since you came back, I couldn't believe it. I knew the second you showed your face that I would do anything to protect you this time, and I really meant it. So now that you're back in my life Alexis, I want nothing to do with Brazillia, I don't like that she seems to claim me, especially since you're here to witness it." Chase said sincerely, his eyes gazing into hers. She knew they should be more careful, they were a lot now careful last time around, but Alexis didn't really care. she lifted her hands and held them to either side of his face.
"Chase, I know, I know okay? I also hate the fact that you're with her, I hate it. But if you leave her, it will cost me my life. For real this time," she told him and he nodded, finally looking down.
"okay. I'll stay with her, but I don't want anything to happen to you, you have too take better care of yourself or I'll do it, and that won't be at all socially acceptable." he joked, making his secret love grin, rolling her eyes at his timing.
"now, really?" she said and he laughed.
"fine, fine. So tell me about the rebellion."
