Chapter 4 - And Then There Were Three

Main Character's POV

The weight on one humans body never felt as much as it did just now as I drag the unconscious Griffin. The little girl, Tia as she introduced herself, was following along as I drag her sleeping saviour.

Fairies following along although less than it was before. 'That must be her passive, [Personal Servants].' She always had the best scouts some would say in my past life.

I eventually reach the elevator, the light on it still working. I push the button as the door opens. A loud squeak comes from it, reluctantly it opens. I haul Griffin inside as Tia follows.

The lab downstairs may have turned into a hidden dungeon. I press '-1' on the button selections as the doors close and we descend.

We start to go down faster and faster ,dropping us almost towards the bottom. The brake system failing. Tia her small face giving a look of pure terror, a look that was the exact opposite of the Fairy Queen in the future . 'I guess even legends we're just scared children once.'

The elevator came to a grinding halt as the sound of the brakes failing filled the walls. Tia grabbing hold of my hoodie jumping out of fear of the loud sounds. Then grogging is heard behind me as a man shoots up.

"Ah you're awake you big oaf. Come one get up we got some more of those walking corpse." I speak to him, his head clearly aching, bones silently adjusting, cuts slowly closing over, however his arm wound still prevalent. 'Luckly I bandaged that before I moved him.'

"Where am I?.... Wait....Is she alright? Where is she?" I point towards the scared girl in the corner.

He bounces upwards and reaches over to Tia putting his hand on her shoulders. His face one of worry, looking for any injuries. Griffin's expression then turns to one of content.

He then asks, "Are you alright?" Her face turns from one of terror to calm as she sees his face. She then wipes her tears and nods.

'Well he was always good with children, he wanted to become a child therapist before this.'

I touch his shoulder and he looks up towards me. Griffin then speaks after a small silence, "Where are we?" His face turning questioing, looking towards the shield on the ground.

'Couldn't carry it, too heavy. But he could.'

"Where we are is where you will be getting your new arm." He then looks towards his empty stump, and starts to freak out. 'Guess his calming aura only works on others and not on him.'

However before I could intervene a little hand strokes his face, small creatures appearing around him green in colour.

'Healing Fairies.' These appeared before to fix his wound and now they were calming him down.

"What is your class?" I was wondering if my involvement may have changed his class. I couldn't afford that to happen.

"What...class? What is that like what do I study?" His face now one of confusion.

'Oh yeah I forgot to explain it.' "Say status, and don't worry if a screen appears that's meant to happen." I waited arms crossed looking towards the exit to the elevator, faint steps could be heard.

"Status." Still even with my warning he jumped back.

He took several minutes, the footsteps were closer, but still not right at the door. 'Got to hurry up before they crowd the door. Too bad I couldn't find the viking sword stored upstairs and only the shield.'

"Celtic Guardian." He finally spoke. 'Great exactly what I needed.'

"In your skills is there an passive ability called [Fae Ward]." I waited expectantly, foot tapping the floor. 'They're getting closer.'

"Yes, but it is grey, with the requirements that I have a shield." I point towards the shield on the ground. "Use this one here its too heavy for me."

He picks it up, the heaviness that once caused me to be barely able to move eluded him. Tia stands in front of Griffin looking up at him. Griffin then smiles and pats Tia on the head.

'Guess they are already bonding as expected of a knight and his queen.' I look towards the exit, the sound of a liquid hitting the floor was so audible that even Griffin could now hear it despite his exhaustion.

"What's behind this door is the same being that you saw upstairs, a bog body. These creatures use the body parts of those around them to become even stronger. I assume the scientists analysing them down here got caught and are now attached to them."

Griffin was taking all this information in, analysing each word. His head turning towards the dripping sound coming out of the door.

"Once this door opens there will be one of those creatures outside like you heard. You must hit the spots where it looks worn and decaying, otherwise they can still charge at you. Your skill [Fae Ward] will allow you to do extra damage to any of those undead creatures."

'This was why I was able to kill one so easily despite my stats.'

Griffin started to position his arm towards the door, the sound of scrapping on the metal of the exit could be heard.

'Now that he has the class his strength should have upped itself, so hopefully he can one-shot it.'

"What will happen to her? Do we keep her here in the elevator or bring her with us?" Griffin looks towards me worrying about what situation that I have brought this girl into and that's a fair point.

"She comes with us. If she's stuck here the bog bodies will be attracted to the sound of us fighting and come here and if she's defenceless they will kill her."

I try to use reason for him, but the doors could be shut again and she would be fine in here. However now that I know who she is and the potential for her powers, I need to use it later in this dungeon.

"How do you know so much about this? There hasn't been anything like this before." His face whips to me questioning the banging still being heard on the door.

'Sh*t he's asking questions.' My hand gravitates towards the button to open the door as a loud bang on the door causes him to be distracted. I push the button and the door creaks open.

Griffin quickly hits the bog body away blood dripping from its head and hands as the flop about from the knock back. The legs however were stable as well as its chest and most of its arms.

"The chest is its weak spot hit it quickly." His whole body leans back as he twists and hits the bog body one last time, blowing it back and disappating it into ashes.

A system message then appears.

[Hidden Dungeon]

[Bogdeep Sanctum]

{The apocalypse has started, power has been given back to the once dead being of this realm. Bog bodies preserved in nature have preserved the vengance of there past selves. One must now conquer this once clean laboratory, now turned swamp and destroy the Bogwarden. His reign has caused the death of countless scientists, stop him before he rises to the surface and cause more suffering.}

I look towards Griffin and Tia as I start to descend into this swampish hell, with them following me stepping over the ashes of the once bog body.

Our footsteps sound off the walls as we go away from the glow of the elevator into the dark, dank halls.
