Main Character POV
I find a key next to the locked drawer. Thankfully, it was the right key. 'Thank god a lot easier than lock picking especially since my fingers weren't steady, and the [Steady Hands] skill had run out of duration.'
I reach into the drawer and pull out a glass cylinder containing a metal called rubidium. Part one of my plan complete, now for part two.
I step towards Tia. "Hey Tia, I'm going to need you to make your wee friends around you a bit more solid." The way the fairies around her were more spirit than here wasn't what I needed. I needed them more solid, able to hold things.
"I can try." Tia's green eyes light up, filled with determination.
"What are you making her do?" Griffin crossed his arms as he looked at me with that questioning expression of his.
"I'm not making her do anything, she won't have to fight even one of those monsters." I watched as she form one stable image of a fairy.
Fairies would normally be immaterial and transparent with no solid form, changing every few seconds. This one before me however was one of beauty.
It had porcellian white skin, sparkiling blue eyes almost as big as its head and it wore a dark blue ball gown, with a paterrn like the night sky. The stars on it were moving like shooting stars against the night sky.
Tia was a bit light headed. Griffin looked a bit more angry. 'She won't pass out so I'm not sure why he's looking at me like that.' I shrugged it off. I could improve my favourability with him later, but now I needed to kill the boss and obtain that item.
I grabbed a coin from my wallet and started to unscrew the screws keeping the air vent on the wall. It took a minute but it came undone.
"Tia, I need your fairy to hold this." I held up the glass vial of rubidium, its metallic sheen glinting under the dim light. "Have it gather the bog bodies in one place and then throw this at them. Do you understand?"
She nodded before going into a trance, mumbling the anicent gaelic tounge of the Tuatha Dé Danann or the people of the Irish Goddess Danu. The fairy's delicate hands glowed faintly as it grasped the vial, its ethereal form shimmering with each movement.
'Now all we could do is wait.'
*A Few Minutes Later*
"Well how long is your plan going to take?" Griffin was no longer made like he was before, but a bit impatient. 'I guess this was him before he entered the [Celtic Realm], ever impatient.'
"It should be done right about now." I waited for the notifactions to come in. I guess I'm even talentless at timing.
Tia piped up from the stool she was sitting in. "It's done." Her face was more pale than before, her eyes were looking into the distance. As I was about to ask what she was talking about notifications appeared.
[Bog Body Defeated: '50XP Acquired']
[Bog Body Defeated: '50XP Acquired', 'Item Acquired: Bog Butter']
[Bog Body Defeated: '50XP Acquired']
[Bog Body Defeated: '50XP Acquired', 'Item Acquired: Bog Butter']
....
As the notifications kept coming, I felt a rush of satisfaction. The first step of my plan had worked, but there was no time to celebrate. The boss was waiting.
A few more notifactions appeared before they ended abruptly. A significant amount of XP, something I'd desperately need for the item I was planning to acquire. The bog butter will come in handy during the boss fight.
The main reason that the xp was 50 instead of 100 was that it was shared. This was since I used Tia's servant to do my dirty work.
"Well it is now done." I unlock the door and walk outside. The ground was now littered with the remanents of footsteps of over 50 bog bodies. They really leave a trail behind them.
"So what happened to them?" Griffin came out first holding the bronze shield from before, slowly letting Tia out of the room as well.
"Well do you remember some basic chemistry?"Griffin looked at me, puzzled. "When rubidium reacts with water it sets off a chemical reaction that launches into an explosion."
Both Griffin and Tia had confused expressions on their faces. "Okay what was dripping off the bog bodies?"
"Blood?" Tia said that and looked towards me so innocently.
"No, water. The rubidium reacted to the water on the bodies of the bog bodies and set of an explosion that launched tiny pieces of rubidium everywhere. They then had the same reaction on the other bog bodies. That's why I wanted to gather them up."
"How'd you know this?" Griffin looks towards me, less suspicious. 'God this is annoying.'
"Do you need to question everything I say, this is getting annoying." Griffin is taken aback. "I saved you and Tia's life, gave you a new arm and just saved us from the horde that was outside that door. Just trust me okay?"
Griffin was lost for words, slowly nodding his head, avoiding my gaze. "Fine," Griffin muttered, still unconvinced. "But next time, maybe let us in on the plan first."
'Needed to resolve that quickly or it could interfere with my plans in the future.' I started to walk but Griffin was still a bit hesitant. However when Tia grabbed his hand it woke him from that tranc of his and started to walk with me.
"Where are we going next?" Grffin spoke his tone lacking the questioning attitude he had earlier. It was a geniune question.
"Well how do we end a dungeon in a videogame?' I point towards the sign right next to me on the cracked stone wall. I slowly take off the foliage that was covering to reveal the words, 'Containment'.
"We're going to take down the boss." I smile as I look towards my two companions as we head into the dark corridor.
