"Hattie, what am I?" Erin looked back and forth between the demon and the hag. She blinked several times to get her eyesight back to normal. She wanted to see the human again and not the demon. After losing her focus and telling her mind not to see the true forms and to have Elizabet return to her magicked form...the form that appeared like any regular human.
Erin opened her eyes and thought to herself, finally she saw the Elizabet that she was used to seeing. The human Elizabet.
Elizabet took a step closer to Erin and put her hand gently on the girl's shoulder. Elizabet was glad when the girl did not flinch at her touch (she recalled how Erin had reacted to Cicely when she had accidentally seen her true Gorgon form). "My true form wasn't too scary for you?"
Erin managed a small smile to benefit the demon. "No, I'm starting to get used to all this crazy stuff." She said with a little laugh in order to keep herself from crying or more likely going insane. "Hattie. What. Am. I?"
"You are a Seer." Hattie simply answered.
"A seer? I can see past the spells and see peoples true faces?"
"Yes, but so much more than that."
Erin soon let a wide grin encompass her face. "Do I have like super awesome powers like Elizabet with seduction or Heather with her nightmares?"
Hattie choked out a laugh and tried to maintain a straight face. "I'm sorry, nothing quite like that."
"So, I'm basically useless?"
Ha Ha Ha, "far from it."
"Seer's are unique to the mythological world. They are not quite human and they are not truly part of the mythological world either. Seer's like succubi can only be women. However, unlike succubi there is no male equivalent. Seer's are quite powerful, but they do not have powers in the way that I as a witch has or Elizabet or Heather or any of the other members of the coven. But Seer's abilities surpass even mine for what they are capable of."
"There used to be a total of five family of Seers. But, one by one they were obliterated because of their power and the things they could see. I had my thoughts that you may be one, but I thought they were long dead. The seer gene is unique in there there can only be one person with the seer gene in the family at a time. Sometimes the 'gene' skips generations and that is what I suspect happened to you."
Erin scrunched her brows in thought but didn't say anything. Instead she waited patiently for Hattie to continue her story. She wouldn't burden her with questions until the end and only if she still had questions that remained unanswered.
Hattie took a deep breath and as expected she continued her story. "I suspect that a long time ago when the families where being murdered a child was hidden away, a distant relative of yours. The gene went dormant to protect itself and it's line."
"Actually I don't know why I am telling you this."
"What?!" Erin interrupted, "what do you mean by that?"
"You can 'see' it for yourself. You could also see what if wrong with the boy and Heather. While we can see only part of the picture. You would be able to see the entire picture."
"And tell me, how exactly in the Hell am I supposed to see it for myself?!"
"Use your bloody ability." Elizabet shrugged her shoulders answering offhandedly.
Erin tilted her head and put her hand on her hips and let out a frustrated sigh. She impatiently tapped her foot letting out another sigh. She thought about her newly found out ability...she knew nothing about it!! Erin shrugged her shoulders and for good measure (and something she wasn't even cognizant of) she let out another sigh. "I don't know, I mean...for Elizabet I just squinted and concentrated really hard. But, she was in front of me. A history I've never seen...how in the bloody hell am I going to "see" (Erin used her fingers to emphasize quotes) something i've never seen before. How can I find out about Matthew or Heather...I wasn't even in the room!"
Hattie shook her head slightly. "I'm not entirely sure. I mean, I know you have the ability, but I have only met a seer once...a long long long time ago. We never had the opportunity to discuss how she did what she did."
"Then how did you figure out I would be able to "see" (again, using air quotes to emphasize the word) Elizabet's true form?"
"You accidentally managed to see Cicely's true form. If you could do it accidentally, I knew if you tried you could do it purposefully." Hattie turned her attention to Heather and then the boy. She glanced at the clock before turning her attention back to Erin. "The day certainly got away from us! We still have your initiation to the Coven at Midnight, that is of course if you still want to join us." Hattie bit her lip and asked. "Why don't you try two of the three things to see. Try the boy-"
"Matthew." Erin interrupted.
"Yes, Matthew and Heather. The other, learning more about the history of Seer's we can do after you initiation. I suspect the coven will be able to assist you in your journey and understanding what it means to be a Seer. Sound good?"
Erin nodded and her eyes shifted between Heather and Matthew. Who should she begin with? She was about to voice her concern when Hattie answered her unvoiced question.
"Why don't you start with Heather. I suspect she will be easier."
"You haven't shown any concern the entire time?"
"That is because when she exerts too much energy, she passes out. This is no different from the few other times. The only odd thing is that it should not have caused her to drain that much energy. She will wake soon enough."
Erin walked across the room. Slowly putting one foot in front of the other. When she finally reached her she took a deep breath. Her her hand on Heather's head and closed her eyes.
