Nothing happened.
Erin opened her eyes. She turned around and looked at Hattie, "I still need your story."
Elizabet and Dinah laughed and Hattie huffed, "focus! No wonder why you struggled to see. You lack the focus and concentration!" Hattie shook her head and when Erin turned around again she let a small smile land on her face.
"Psh" Erin mumbled and closed her eyes again focusing on the task in front of her. She found her mind wandering to Heather and her story, or the part that she knew. She was still waiting for what happened after she met up with Hattie. Erin shook her head in order to try and shake the thoughts. Erin willed herself to focus. But again her mind wandered to the nightmare in front of her. How sad it was to hear that she didn't have guidance when she was little she didn't have parents to guide and teach and love her. But she had the goodness within in her as she never attempted to kill another human. Heather had learned from her mistake. As Erin's mind took her down the history of Heather she felt an electric shock similar to rubbing a balloon on one's head. It didn't hurt her, but it made her aware.
Suddenly she could see...it was the room again...wait...when did she open her eyes Erin asked herself. Erin could see Dinah and Elizabet across from her and Matthew laying on the bed unmoving and his breathing minimal. And something dawned on her, she was seeing through Heather's eyes. This must have been the moments before whatever happened .... had happened.
"Do you think I should try it? Entering his mind through his nightmare?" Erin heard Heather's voice.
Dinah was seen standing over Matt and her fist to her chin deep in thought.
"Dinah?"
"Mmm, yes I heard you. I was just running through different scenario's and probabilities in my mind. But, I think it is worth a shot. This is all unknown...so who really knows, but I think we should try."
"Okay." Erin - Heather took a step closer to Matt she placed her hand on his chest. One deep breath later from the nightmare and suddenly she had visions swarming her head and a second later Heather collapsed overwhelmed by the terrors in Matt's head.
The vision ended and Erin opened her eyes. She swayed a little before turning and looking at the three sets of eyes she could feel staring at her.
"So," Hattie asked. "What did you see?"
"How did you know I saw anything?"
Hattie smirked, "I just know. So, what did you see?"
"Yes, care to enlighten us?" Dinah questioned stepping forward almost looking like she was going to grab Erin by the shoulders and shake her. But Dinah didn't have to 'force' Erin to speak.
"I don't know."
"WHAT?!" Dinah yelled her eyes wide and she almost said more but she was cut off by Erin.
"Shh! What I mean is that it was beyond chaotic in his mind. I felt like I was ready to go insane. He had at least 20 different personalities...no...thats not right. He was experiencing all of his past lives. He had been murdered many many times by that vile beast."
"What? He is experiencing all of his past lives..." Hattie trailed off trying to understand. "Over 20?"
Erin nodded, "A least. No wonder why you had to make him unconscious...Heather only got a glimpse and she passed out. It's enough to make anyone go mad."
"So, nothing is wrong with Heather?" Hattie asked.
"Hey! I thought you said this was not abnormal!"
Hattie bit her lip and then sighed. "We didn't want to worry you. There is nothing that we could do at this juncture."
"Okay, you guys need to stop trying to "protect" me. I'm either joining your coven and I have a right to know what the coven knows...Or you'll just send me on my way and I will walk away from you guys and this place."
Again Hattie sighed, "I swear to you, we will keep nothing from you moving forward, I'm sorry."
"Thank you. So why was he killed by the beast so many times!!??"
"I suspect it has to do with the fact that he can find her consciously or not, he will always be drawn to her. Always. I also suspect that he can help the lady of the lakes recall her true form. The beast fears the lady of the lakes, our Emmeline."
"Should I touch him as well?"
Hattie shook her head and reached for Erin's wrist before she had a chance to touch the boy. "No, now that we know what is going on there is no reason for you to subject yourself to the chaos. After the ritual in but a few hours time, we can use the strength of the coven to set him right again and sort out his past lives. Because of you, we can do this. It wasn't something we were even remotely capable of before.
Erin nodded happy that she could help. She was useful. Without realizing it she was beginning to feel like she was a part of the family. But that also meant she was part of the war and that was terrifying.
