The last thing Matthew remembered was being poked with a large needle. He was trying to follow Ania, but his body slowly became heavy, his mind disoriented before his entire world went black.
Matthew awoke later his mind was in a deep fog. He had a splitting headache and he put his hand to his head and groaned. What the hell happened? He asked himself as he attempted to sit up. His head was spinning and it wasn't helping him to recall what had happened earlier. When he finally was able to sit up he lay his head against the cool cement wall and slowly what had happened earlier came to him. A slow and steady stream of events.
Matthew looked around the room to attempt to ascertain how long ago those events did happen. How long ago his prom was, how long ago since he remembered Emmeline. Emmeline! He told himself to focus! It was difficult with the blinding headache and the after effects of whatever drug he had been given. He looked around the room and found that it was similar to a cell, it was probably 8x8ft. He was sitting on a small cot with a single blanket and pillow, nothing fancy. He had a simple toilet and sink. Unfortunately there was no window and he didn't know if it had been hours or even what time of day it was.
Matthew let out a sigh. More important than the time of day was why in the hell was he here and who was his captor? A shiver went through his body as the possibilities seemed impossible. He let out a small snort...he did just see three dead people turn to flesh and blood again. And he had lived two lives!? Really was there anything that wasn't possible?
The door of the cell unlocked and Matthew turned his head to look. A heavier set male stepped through the door. Matthew squinted his eyes, the man looked familiar? Matthew searched his memories, Henry, it was Emmeline's brother! What was he doing here? And, with the keys to his cell no less?
"Henry?!?" Matthew spoke, his voice raspy and weak. His headache feeling like it was going to get out of control.
"Henry?!" Matthew called out again this time his voice a little stronger, but not by much. "Henry, what are you doing here? Are you a captive too?" As Matthew spoke the words he knew that wasn't possible. Henry had the keys. Matthew wasn't sure why exactly, but he thought of Mr. Williams. Matthew was waiting for him to speak. Hoping that Henry would provide answers to him. But he didn't. Matthew felt despair growing in the pit of his soul ready to consume him.
Henry just watched and listened and slowly a smirk crawled on his face. He then begins to laugh, menacingly. Terrifyingly. The laugh of Emmeline's brother is eerie and highly unsettling. Matthew had wanted to try and speak to him, to try and sway him to let him go. However, Henry's demeanor and evil laughter made Matthew think better of it and his once open mouth (ready to speak) snapped closed.
Henry, realizing that Matthew had begun to understand the situation began to speak. "I knew of your little infatuation with our dear Emmeline, I knew you were poor, and I knew that you wanted to take her away. What I didn't take you for was an idiot, a damned fool.
Matthew's situation is further dawning on him. His eyes become large and his mind is desperately trying to make sense of the chaos that he had now found himself in. 'Our dear Emmeline', who is this man? Thought Matthew to himself. He certainly wasn't Henry, was he Mr. Williams? But that seemed to be unlikely too. He shrunk further into the corner of his cot and the cement wall. There are a million questions that are swirling around in his mind, but he doesn't speak.
Henry (or whomever the hell he is) walks quickly to Matthew putting his fingers around his neck and lifting the human off the bed pinned against the wall. "I had wanted to kill you. But, I suppose you will be more useful alive. Pity." He licks his lips and smiles.
It was then that Matthew notices his teeth a similar to the creature, the creature that attacked Emmeline and himself in the woods. The teeth are jagged and monstrous looking. Matthew begins to panic his heart beating wildly and this only make the beast smile larger. "You will be wonderful. After your usefulness, I will take great pleasure in consuming you." He laughed and dropped Matthew back on the bed.
Matthew struggled to breathe and looked at the beast. The beast took one of its sharp nails and scratched it along Matthew's cheek. A sliver of blood appeared in which the creature took it and licked his fingers. The beast let out a sigh of satisfaction, "I don't know if I will be able to wait." Then more to himself than to Matthew he said, "maybe if I take a piece of his body, he would still be able to live? No, no no no. I don't think I would contain myself. He is much more use to us alive. For now."
When the beast turned his head back and looked at Matthew he was expecting him to be terrified. But rather the boy had put his hand to his head. He looked like he was in pain.
Matthew had heard the beast talk about him, but unfortunately his headache was definitely getting worse. The longer he is awake he realized the more painful his headache becomes until the point of him seeing Stars.
THUMP
THUMP
Mathew lays back on the bed closes his eyes and puts his forearm over his eyes to block out any potential light. His mind begins to lose any semblance of thought and it is fully consumed by blinding mind numbing pain. His body begins to convulse as the dam within his mind breaks and all of his previous lives' memories come rushing through.
