Chapter 61 - Unknown

Shortly after Emmeline, Ania, and Gregory had reunited in the graveyard, they had heard some of the men approaching. Emmeline and Ania were quick to dust their tracks while Gregory moved the old tomb's door before they all crawled into the safety of the large tomb. Gregory left the door open a sliver and they held their breath as the men searched. The men were in the area for what felt like an eternity for the three hidden residents, but in truth was less than five minutes. When the men headed out of the cemetery the three in the tomb let out a collective sigh of relief.

The men were still searching the rest of the property and the three still had to be cautious, but they could rest a little easier. But, each sound they heard put them on high alert in a state of hyper arousal.

Emmeline, Ania, and Gregory sat inside the old tomb as it was just safer for the time being. The dead didn't bother them, up until a few hours ago, they too were dead. They were exhausted, soar, sad, and running on fumes. One of their own was missing and presumably taken by the enemy (whomever that was).

Emmeline had her back against a tomb, the cool stone causing her back to go numb. They had been siting like this for quite some time. Unsure of what to do or where to go. They had no plan and frankly they were too tired to come up with one at this moment at least.

Emmeline rested her head in her hands and she had the overwhelming feeling of despair that was all consuming. She had only just seen Matthew. She had just remembered him and he had remembered her. She wanted to call out and scream in anger. Anger was far easier of an emotion to handle than despair. But, if she were to scream out, she feared they would find them. They were already in a precarious situation. So, she let out a sigh instead. The sigh filled with anguish, headache, anger, sadness, and despair....maybe she thought she should scream and be found. They would take her to Matthew. Emmeline however quickly discarded that thought as it was an incredibly stupid and selfish thing to do and she hated herself for even thinking it.

Gregory looked over when he heard the sigh. There were a million things that he wanted to do. But, he did nothing. He knew there was nothing he could do to ease her suffering. There was nothing he could do a this moment that would bring Matthew back. Instead he looked down at the sleeping girl.

Ania had rested her head on Gregory's legs using them as a pillow. The rest of her body was in the fetal position in an attempt to retain her body temperature in the cool evening/early morning within the tomb. Her eyes were closed and she appeared to be sleeping, but it didn't looked to be particularly restful her entire body seemed to be tight. Gregory rested his hand protectively on the girl's shoulder and her muscles relaxed.

"Gregory, what do you suppose we do?" Emmeline asked. She wasn't looking at him but towards the direction of the house. The sun was making it's way a little higher in the early morning sky.

Gregory looked up at the auburn hair green eyed beauty. He wanted to rush up and hold her tight, but he didn't, instead he gently shrugged his shoulders as not to wake the sleeping girl on his lap, "I I haven't the faintest idea of what we should do." He paused looking back at Ania. "Around 12 hours ago we suddenly became undead, well living that is. You regained your memories. Matthew regained his from a previous life?" Gregory asked the last bit more of a question that was still confusing out of the entire thing. "Then we were attacked by, I don't even know! We ran, Matthew was kidnapped and currently we are hiding in a graveyard. I just don't know anymore." Gregory was careful not to say kidnapped or killed because he knew it would only upset Emmeline.

Emmeline nodded slowly and brought her attention back to Gregory and Ania, "All I know is that we have to get Matthew. How we do that? I don't know. But we must get him. It might also be beneficial to know why we were attacked too. I really am just thinking out loud and all my thoughts seem jumbled and not very organized!"

"Mmm." Gregory nodded. Something that had just occurred to him and how could he have forgotten. "The green light?!"

"Hmm?" Then it dawned on her, how could she have forgotten but she knew. She was distracted with the kidnapping and possible murder of Matthew. Emmeline shook her head while shrugging her shoulders. "I don't know. What I do know is that I became nervous and we were so close to our escape. The light just burst forth and hit them missing you and I."

"I am grateful for the green light! It almost appeared as if the bad guys were looking for you and the rest of us were collateral damage?"

"Possibly? I really don't know..." Emmeline trailed off. There was so much they didn't know, that she felt as if she was swimming in a sea of possibilities of 'who's, why's, and how's'. This only caused her to sigh again. There was so much unknown, she couldn't even think of how they were going to find Matthew, hopefully he was alive. Emmeline shook her head, she KNEW he was alive. He had to be alive....the alternative she just didn't want to consider. No, she wouldn't consider it!
