Chapter 48 - Welcome Home

As Emmeline fell unconscious the moment her body thudded against the wood floor, there was a bright flash. A bright crystal blue light flashed through the entire Octagon House. Ania had been putting away the tea pot and cups, the light pushed her up against the wall. The glasses breaking on the floor as her body fell. Gregory had been refilling the water canister in the kitchen when the bright light knocked him unconscious, the water dripping slowly around him. There was not sound except for the drip drip drip of the water on the stone floor.

Emmeline's father, Gideon Harrisson built the Octagon house in the late 1866 to the specific guidelines of his darling and very pregnant wife. His wife demanded the octagon shape and the three levels. Every detail had been carefully and deliberately been her creation. When her loving husband asked why an octagon house. She moved her finger to his lips and shook her head, "Does it really matter? This is what I want. Would you deny me what I want?"

"Elizabet, I would never dream of denying even your most extravagant whim. I love you with my entire being and I am at your command. I was curious, that is all."

Elizabet smiled and put her hand to her stomach, "Gideon, do you want to feel your baby kick?"

Gideon smiled and walked over to the petite woman, her face flushed and her red hair sticking to her face in the warm weather. Elizabet guided his hand to where the baby was kicking and he smiled. He was overjoyed in fact.

"Elizabet darling, why don't you sit down and let me get a rag to wipe your face and massage your feet, this heat must be bothering you?"

She nodded and sat down on a large rock facing their soon to be house, she put her hands on her stomach making small hypnotic circles. Gideon came back with some wet cloths and put it around her neck. He pulled back her hair and tied it up in an attempt to cool her down. He then knelt on the ground before slowly removing her socks and shoes. He hissed when he looked at her swollen feet, "My love, why did you not say something earlier?"

She reached for his chin and brought it to hers for a brief, but passionate kiss. "I am pregnant my dear Gideon it is part of the trials of being pregnant and giving birth." She gave a small chuckle and she could feel the baby within her moving with her laugh.

"Maybe now it is time for your bed rest?"

"But dear husband, where will I lay my head, our house is yet to be finished?"

"Why don't you go to your parents' house. I will finish up the house weeks before you give birth and you can rest easy in your new home with a new born babe in your arms."

Elizabet heard horses coming up the drive and turned to look her head. She could recognize her families carriage and horses. She looked back towards her husband, "They got here fast, we only just decided moments ago!"

Gideon blushed and planted a kiss on her little button nose, "You need your bed rest and I need to finish the home. I contacted them a month ago and it was all finalized a week ago. I am sorry my love, but I did not mean to go behind your back."

"Hmmm." Elizabet squinted her eyes at her 'dear husband' she did not enjoyed being played and she would definitely have him pay for crossing her. A sweet smiled quickly crossed her lips hiding the discontent she was feeling only a second ago. "You build this house. I want it ready for our second child we have, a baby girl."

Gideon raised his brows with confusion and tilted his head, our next child will be a baby girl? He was happy to hear that she wanted more children, but was surprised to hear she expected it to be a girl. "Isn't that impossible to predict."

"Sure it would be if you are not me." She gave a serene smile and walked to him holding his hands and squeezing gently. "Remember dear husband, I always get what I want. Always."

Gideon nodded in somewhat of a haze, what were they talking about? He then looked down the drive and noticed her parents carriage, "Look my darling Elizabet. Your parents are here."

"Yes, I will be staying with them until the house is built. Remember, don't delay."

He leaned over and kissed her cheek, "My dear wife you are so wise to be staying with your parents and I will definitely have the house completed in no time!"

"Such a good doting husband you are." she smiled and then left to greet her parents.

Two months later in the month of October the house was completed. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish the house int time for his wife to give birth in their home, their Octagon House. He was a little surprised that she wasn't angry with him. He was glad, he didn't know if he could handle his wife's anger or sadness for that matter.

Gideon guided his darling wife and their baby boy into the house. Their house. Their Octagon House. Gideon kissed his wife gently on the forehead. "Welcome home, Elizabet."
