Chapter 2 - Subject 002: SL1

Before the afternoon, I went out of the bed area. Nobody said anything to me. They just let me out and through. The hallway curved this way and that way. Sometimes the hallway got bigger when there was a room, but then the hallway would get smaller if it was just a hallway.

I paid no attention to any of the staff going through and near the rooms. There was a lab nearby, or in this case, a small Security Room. I knew a Scientist-Doctor who always went there to check up on blood samples. Or test results that had something to do with the boys on the units.

"Hey!" A staff member noticed me coming by, "What do you think you're doing? Do you need some--" He was cut off by another staff member, who was standing behind him.

"That's the Special Test Subject 7295." He redirected him, "She's authorized to roam the units."

I stopped next to the door on my right.

One of the staff got up from the rolling chair he was sitting in, and walked towards the door. I watched him bend over a little to speak to me.

"Where are you off to little one?" He gave me a gentle smile.

I answered with only a gesture; I pointed at the green light tagged door that was at the end of the hallway.

"You want to get to the lab that's behind that door?" He gently asked.

I nodded.

Knowing he couldn't say no, he rubbed the back of his head nervously, and said, "Hmm, must be important... All right, you're welcome to proceed." He went back into the room while I walked a little ways to the door.

I stood in front of it, and waited for the green lights to flicker. I stared at the two lights until they flickered. The doors slid open with almost a loud sound. I proceeded through.

I went down the hallway, thinking to myself about the dream. It was a little weird, and yet it felt so real. I couldn't remember it, though. I had already forgotten about it.

The door to the small storage/testing room was already open, so that meant I could go right in. As I started to go in, I heard a crash and somebody holler "SHUT THE FUCK UP, AND GET ME SOMETHING TO EAT, YOU USELESS MOTHER FUCKE--" Then there was another crash. Then it was followed by an earring boom.

One of the staff was in the room with whoever was causing the intense heat. The staff member quickly, but gently pushed me out, almost causing me to fall back on my butt.

As I moved back, almost losing my balance, the door was quickly closed.

The staff member knew who it was coming in, so I guessed he pushed me out, and closed the door to protect me. There probably was a hostile kid in there.

There was a shout, and then a struggle. I stared at the door, wondering what was going on in there. I wanted to see who it was, but I was a little too scared.

"7295!" Somebody came clicking down the hallway on my right.

I looked and saw it was Dr. Frentz. I almost jumped for joy.. but saw he was holding a cased syringe.

"What are you doing here?" He questioned, stopping directly in front of me.

I wanted to ask him the same thing, but I couldn't speak well. Instead, I raised my left hand and pointed at my head. It took Dr. Frentz a bit to understand what I was meaning.

"Let me know later." He said, "I've got a situation to deal with." He waved his hand in my direction and pushed me forward. He opened a door on our right, "Go in there and wait on me."

I did as I was told, and in return, Dr. Frentz closed the door. I looked around the dimly lighted room. There was a table and two chairs on either side, and what looked like a mirror on the wall at my left. I think this was a room where staff would talk to the kids on the units and take notes while people watched from beyond the glass.

"All of these unforgotten sins, these things that I despised."

I walked around the table and went to the other side of the room. I sat down against the wall and pulled my knees close to my chest. I wrapped my arms around my knees and waited on Dr. Frentz.

I will fight until they are no more

A few minutes later, Dr. Frentz opened the door and stepped into the room. Just before he did, he turned his head left and yelled, "Take him back to his unit!"

Just before he nearly slammed the door, I heard "YOU LIAR!! LIAR LIAR LIAR, LIARRRR!!!"

Dr. Frentz stopped and found me staring at him. He could tell I was nervous, and a little scared, and worried all together.

He closed his eyes and sighed for a moment.

He was holding a laptop at his side, nearly touching his lower hip. He sat it down on the table and pulled a seat.

Just before he sat down, I quickly got up. He watched me take a seat in front of him.

He looked at me. He seemed to be stressed or a little angry. It was probably because of that kid. Dr. Frentz opened his computer. He tapped on a few keys and turned the screen to me. "Tell me about that dream." He gently pushed the laptop towards me.

I nodded a few times and began typing in the notepads he pulled up a moment ago. This is the only things I typed:

I had the dream, but I do not remember what it was. I couldn't. You seem mad. Who was that boy? Why were you holding that syringe? Was it for that boy? Why didn't you come to the unit last night? You said you would.

Then I turned the computer back around to him. He pulled the laptop towards himself to have a better look before putting his reading glasses on. "Dreams can be like that." He said, answering the first thing I typed. "That boy is troublesome... yes, it was for him..." The he stopped at the last thing. He read it a couple of times. "Your grammar has somewhat improved."

He seemed to be avoiding the last question.

"If you have another dream, and if you remember this one, let one of the unit staff know and they'll immediately come looking for me. I'm always upstairs, but ... it has everything to do with that boy, you heard."

Once he got up and pushed in his chair, I followed suit and walked after him.

When we got into the hallway, I immediately grabbed hold of his right sleeve and tugged on it. I desperately wanted him to answer my last question.

"An... swer... me... n...ow!" I demanded, trying to speak.

To his surprise, he was a little shaken by me trying to talk. He never liked showing his feelings, so he quickly regained his scenes. As always. He turned his head, "I was... doing things... things got in the way." He turned his head back to me, "Let's not worry too much about that. I'm here now."

I let go of Dr. Frentz and looked off to the side. I had no idea what to do, or of course, say. I began to think about what that boy from earlier said to Dr. Frentz.

"Right," he said above me, causing me to snap back into reality, "Let's get you back to the unit..."
