Robyn's jaw dropped out of surprise, standing up from his seat, "There is only you three left?"
"Well, yes," Claire said confidently, "There is also you, The Aegis Knight!"
He looked down, his mind still racing from trying to even understand everything Claire's Dad had just revealed to him. Everything he had learned and believed in growing up, was all lies. Looking back at the family, he saw the conviction in their face and brought his hand up.
"I'm in!" Robyn said, a fire in his eyes.
Claire jumped up and down excitedly. Her Dad moved away from them, walking up to Robyn and looked him in the eyes, "Son, if you don't master the Aegis, you'll just end up dead. The Aegis is a great weapon, with practically limitless potential. So much so, that the last Aegis Knight turned against the Lorraine, and used the Aegis to give us a chance."
Robyn made a fist, bringing it up and looking deep within himself, "As long as I have the willpower, the Aegis will find not fail," he repeated quietly.
"Correct!" Claire's Dad exclaimed, "Anything you can imagine if you believe in it enough, the Aegis will create it."
"Then I guess there couldn't be a more suitable person to wield this," he said with confidence.
Claire sat down with a great sigh, relieved to hear he was on board.
"So now wha-"
A knock on the door cut Robyn off, an uneasy feeling came over everyone.
"Are you expecting anyone, Dad?" Claire whispered.
He shushed her and moved quietly to the other room, slowly turning over things looking for something. Then another knock.
"Hellooooo," a voice grumbled, "I know you're in there..."
Robyn's hair on the back of his neck began to stand.
"Well that doesn't sound good," he whispered.
Claire's Dad was still rummaging around, Claire's mom sinking back into her bedroom.
"I guess I'll just have to let myself in!" the voice boomed, the door flying off its hinges.
Two creatures stepped in, followed by a man dressed in a black business suit, with a red tie and a solid black cane. The creatures were covered in fur head to toe, gnarling their teeth under their snout. They looked wolf-like but stood like on their hindlegs, and still resembled a humanoid posture.
Robyn's eyes grew large, "Werewolves?!"
The werewolves stretched their backs out, growling at Robyn and stepping closer.
"Salazar, call your mutts off!" Claire's Dad shouted, running into the room with a wooden staff, with runes carved throughout.
"Ah, Wilhelm, you crazy old fool," the man said, "Still keeping yourself pent up at home, watching anime and playing video games I presume."
The werewolves split up, one standing in front of Robyn, the other growling and eyeing up Wilhelm. Robyn was losing his mind on the inside, trying to keep cool under the very dire situation he found himself in.
"I have no business with you Wilhelm, I'm here for this...child," he motioned toward Robyn, "He has something he shouldn't."
"Kid, if you're going to do something you better do it now, werewolves are not patient creatures," Wilhelm said, readying himself to react when Robyn made his move.
Salazar sighed unamused and waved his hand, the beasts charging toward both of them. Robyn drew out a sword but was knocked to the floor, the werewolf jumping on top of him. He tried to fend it off of him with his sword in its mouth, keeping it from being bitten.
"Robyn!" Claire exclaimed, digging in her pouch and throwing a jar at the wolf on top of Robyn, "Ignite!"
Wilhelm clicked his tongue and readied his staff as the liquid she had thrown burst into flames, causing the beast to begin to yelp. It rolled onto it's back, giving a chance for Robyn to get back up.
"Zien, come forth!" Wilhelm shouted and the air began to crackle, the other werewolf's air began to stand on end.
Lightning split the air striking the beast in the chest and sending him back towards Salazar, being swatted away by his cane and back into the hallway.
"Damn mongrels can't even complete a simple task," Salazar said annoyed.
He extinguished the fire on the beast's back and demanded it got up, "Stop messing around, I don't even care if you kill them. Lunaris!"
"Salazar the hell is wrong with you!" Wilhelm screamed as the beast began to swell up, its muscles enlarging and its behavior becoming more feral. Drool running down hits fangs and growling as it continued to increase in size, hunching over on all fours and looking at Robyn with murderous intent.
Salazar cackled and waved his cane toward Robyn, "Good boy, now fetch!"
The werewolf and Robyn both disappeared and a hole busted through the side of the apartment building. Claire screamed in terror and Wilhelm ran to the wall, looking outside.
"Robyn!"
They crashed into the street below with a puff of smoke surrounding them. As it cleared, a glint shined off of Robyn holding back the beast with his just his hands. He was encased in a full suit of armor, both his and the werewolf's hands locked together.
"He really does have the Aegis," Wilhelm said relieved, turning back to Salazar.
The man rolled his eyes annoyed with the turn of events, turning his back to Wilhelm and his daughter, Claire still in shock falling to her knees.
"I don't have time for this, the kid is good as dead now that that mutt is empowered by a moon enchantment," Salazar laughed and waved his hand as he walked out, stepping over the werewolf in the hallway, "Pathetic..."
He murmured something inaudible toward the werewolf as he left and his cane glowed for a second. The wolf began to yelp and tried to get up but it began to twist in agony. Claire watched as the beast began to balloon up, her dad stepping in the way of her and slamming his staff into the ground, creating a large barrier around them. The beast exploded, taking out another section of the building, causing the fire system within the building to go off.
Back on the streets, Robyn was still engaged with the werewolf, both trying to overpower the other. Robyn dropped his hands and shoulder tackled the beast into a car passing by. The wolf got up and grabbed Robyn by his neck from behind, getting him in a headlock and squeezing as hard as he could. Robyn tried to pull its arms off his neck but struggled to get a decent hold of its arm. The werewolf dropped to the ground on its back, continuing to choke Robyn as he struggled to get free.
"G-Get off me!" Robyn choked, and the wolf yelped and its left arm dropped, completely severed.
Robyn rolled over and coughed, planting a sword into the ground to help him stand. He looked at the weapon with surprise and got to his feet, pulling the sword out of the ground and swinging it to his side.
"Let's go!" he exclaimed, bringing it to his front as the wolf stood up, with his only arm left.
It howled and leaped toward Robyn, pushing him into another car, and slamming his head through the window. Even with one arm, Robyn's inexperience still put him at a disadvantage. The beast easily overpowered Robyn, knocking the sword out of his hand and picking him up by his throat, bringing him towards his mouth and trying to bite his head, tearing the armor away with his fangs. His armor was losing its durability the more scared he became, the wolf bringing him close again its mouth wide open.
