Chapter 26 - Unbearable Anguish

Oliver was looking at his wife who is venting out her sorrow.

"Sophia, cool down. Please cool down," he said hugging her in order to soothe her

"How can I calm down Mr. Oliver Miller? How can I calm down when I am carrying this unbearable pain in my heart? How can I be normal when my own daughter keeps on hating me for no reason?" she yelled with tears

"I can understand," he said cooing her

"You don't Mr. Miller. You don't understand my pain because your daughter doesn't hate you. She loves and she can give her life for you. You will never understand my pain," she said with hiccups

He walked towards the side table and fetched the water. He poured the water in a mug available there and forwarded that to her.

"Have it," he said placing the mug near to her lips

She pushed his hand away. He asked her a few more times and when she didn't listen to him he pulled her hair with his hand and arched her head back

"Why don't you listen to me when I am speaking normally? Why do you want to unleash the beast? Why can't you just follow what I say?" he roared

"I won't follow them, Mr. Miller. The result of my situation is only because I have followed your words and I won't do that from now on," she said hissing with pain

"How dare you back answer me? Are you high on drugs that you started defying my orders?" he asked arching her neck more backward

"If I would be high on drugs I would have followed your orders without a fail, Mr. Miller. But now I am totally sane and that is making me see the reality and giving me the strength to lock my horns with you," she shouted

"You are going overboard now. Drink the water, take your medication, and have a nap. Everything will be normal by the morning," he said leaving his grip on her hair

She hissed in pain while sitting back. He hurried towards her wardrobe and pulled out the drawer. He saw the medicines lying there and he pulled them out of the drawer and walked back to the bed

He switched on the lights in the room. Sophia placed her right hand across her eyes when the lights hit her all of a sudden.

She struggled to look at the light as she is in the darkroom for the past one hour

"The time has passed and you neglected your medication. What are the maids doing? Why should we keep paying them salaries when they can't even give you the prescribed medication on time?" he said agitated

"I ordered them to leave me alone saying that all I need is rest. I have promised them that I will take my medications and only then, they have left the room. You don't need to punish them or remove them from their jobs due to this," Sophia said trying to adjust herself to look at him while lights are hitting her eyes

"And after all the promises you have conveniently ignored taking the medicines. How irresponsible is this behavior of yours, Sophia? Your negligence in taking the medicines at the right time resulted in all the stupidity, which took place. Enough of everything now like a good woman who listens to her husband and follows his words take the medicines," Oliver said pushing the medicines tray towards her

Sophia stared at the tray lying opposite to her blankly.

"What are you thinking Sophia? Have them," he yelled frustrated

"Everything will be back to normal once I take them right?" she asked looking at him

"Yes Sophia, everything will be normal once you have them," Oliver said in a low pitch moving near to his wife

"But I don't want everything to get back to normal where I can't even express my pain and anguish. I don't want these medicines to take over me and control my mind. I don't want this," she said crying holding his husband's hand

"You are testing my patience, Sophia. If you don't want this what else do you want? What else in the world will make your crazy brain sane?" He shouted

She mellowed listening to his shrieks. She slowly pulled herself back sat straight and started speaking, "Oliver, do you want to know what can really make me sane?"

"Ye, I want to know what makes my wife happy and sane," he said looking into her eyes

"Promise me that you get me whatever I need for my happiness," she asked looking at him with hopeful eyes

Oliver thought for a few minutes and replied 'Okay' staring at his wife who is desperately looking at him

"At Lox organizations, you keep on experimenting right?" Sophia asked him and Oliver nodded his head in a yes

"We develop many plans for space shuttles and rockets right. Then why don't you work on a time travel machine? Please work on that. I want nothing but to go back to the time where my daughter used to love me, I want to go back and make the things right. I want to go back and let her know how everything took place and how everyone conveniently put the blame on me and made me liable for everything," she shouted throwing the pillows away from the bed raging with anger

"Sophia, stop your stupidity right now. I can't take that anymore," Oliver Miller yelled

Sophia didn't pay heed to what her husband said and kept throwing everything her hands caught

Oliver looked at the way her wife is behaving. He ran his fingers through his scalp looking at her. After exhaling a deep breath, he moved closer to her and pulled her hands closer.

Caging her hands between his legs he shouted, "I have been a lot patient with you when I shouldn't have been. Our daughter is right you never listen to anyone when they speak normally. You just listen to anyone only when they shout at you. I don't want to force you but I have no option left," he said pulling her head back

Oliver pushed the medications down her throat and poured water in her mouth. When he left her hair Sophia gulped the water and started coughing

Oliver forwarded his hand to pat her back but she pushed that away still coughing

"You are the meanest person on the earth Mr. Oliver Miller, no one will do this for his wife," she yelled

"I have no option left other than doing this and if you don't want these things to repeat try behaving normally like everyone," Oliver said looking closely into her eyes

"Like everyone? What do you mean by this phrase Mr. Miller? Everyone I know is double-faced individuals who act so well according to the situation having the worst mindsets in their back. If you want me to be like them, sorry to disappoint you but I won't" Sophia replied sternly

"Enough of your bullshit Sophia," Oliver shouted throwing the tray on the floor which was shattered into pieces within seconds

"Just because I am being patient and listening to your rant you can't speak whatever shit which comes to your mind. I don't want to listen to one more stupid word from your mouth and what are you saying about the pain? You are experiencing the pain for the mistakes you have done. Do you think only you are bearing the pain? No Sophia, your daughter, and your husband too are bearing the pain for the things that took place. We need to move on from that. So stop playing the victim card from now on," he said clutching her shoulders tight

She spoke nothing but kept looking at him. His eyelids started to fall indicating that the medication started working. Oliver made her sleep on the bed and walked towards the door

"Hey you," he called a servant who is walking thereafter opening the door

"Yes Sir," she said running near to him

"Clean the mess in the room. Change the bedsheets and curtains. Call the beauticians and tell them to remove Madam's make up. Everything should look fresh when your Madam wakes up tomorrow morning," he ordered her

"Yes Sir," she nodded looking down

While she left to call other staff Oliver shot one last glance at his wife who is about to sleep and walked away from the room.
