In the following months, Nýr consistently followed his routine.
Most of the day, since either Fiona or Corbis stayed home to take care of him, they would constantly teach him the common language for long periods of time. Both the dwarf and gnome were immensely surprised by Nýr being attentive and open to learning for long periods of time, since it was common knowledge that babies didn't have a high attention span.
If Nýr wasn't learning the common language, he would crawl all around the house and try his hardest to keep a good rate of mobility. He wanted to be a healthy kid and he persistently tried to begin walking.
In the fifth month, clear progress was made, Nýr began to walk and he could already have more than a normal conversation with both Fiona and Corbis. He constantly read books and so, the world he came to became more clear to him.
Maybe because of his high perseverance, he rarely took a break and if he took one, the break wouldn't be for long. He kept reading and reading, learning, and studying in the body of a 5-month baby.
As Nýr couldn't hide it from his guardians, both of them were in love with their smart new kid. Nýr didn't know yet but Fiona and Corbis had been trying to had kids for years, sadly, the dwarven and gnome fertility rate was hopelessly low, making them extremely depressed. With the coming of Nýr, their situation completely changed. Fiona and Corbis became happy again, they regained their hope, and the spark of love re-ignited as if it was a phoenix.
They regained their youthful looks, became more active, worked hard, and happy for their new talented, and incredible kid. They always made sure to spend time with their new light and took care of him as if they were taking care of a precious diamond.
Nýr on the other hand tried to hide as much as possible from his parents. It would be extremely weird for a baby to be as capable as he was. He didn't speak words he had already understood, constantly fell when toddling, he behaved like a baby. This wore him out a bit since he wasn't used to the level of helplessness and dependency a baby suffered from.
Because of this he constantly would study and read, trying to adjust to this new reality without overthinking about the absurdity of it all. As his knowledge of the world he was in increased, he now had an overall idea of the situation.
Throughout these months, Nýr realized something magically happen in his status board, in the previous days he had felt peace and constant energy flourishing within him. As if the mountain they were in was giving him life and strength, he gained two stats.

Nýr was surprised by the sudden change in his stats, he had gained two stats by doing absolutely nothing, but living in the cozy little house and reading. He had a hunch of why his stats had raised, probably because of the great calm he felt when touching the ground with his feet or the revitalization he felt for simply existing inside the mountain.
Perhaps the mountain was rich in energy, but it would be more likely to say that Nýr's godly magical affinity with the earth was making an effect on his body. He was immediately scared since he didn't know if his parents would realize this. He had gotten accustomed to the loving and caring Fiona, the smart and careful Corbis, and the constant visits of Xoji and Jorr.
Most of all, the deep connection between Manny and him had become so valuable and unbreakable that he wouldn't bear to lose it. He had to carefully plan his moves, reveal just enough to be labeled talented, but not monstrous. Before revealing his power and talent, he needed to know more about the world, what the standards of the world were and how much talent could he reveal.
As smart as Nýr was, his head became full of thoughts and questions like ow much talent would be good enough? How much divided a genius from a monster that had to be removed? What was just enough?
He was filled with worries and anxiety about his surprising talent. The relationships he had with the dwarfs and gnomes had quickly taken importance in his little heart.
Truthfully, Nýr became decent enough to read and comprehend at his third month, the fourth and fifth months were used to gather information about the world he was in. Throughout the books Nr realized he was in a giant country called Ethax, the book mentioned how the country was divided into 8 big territories that corresponded to different races.
In the northwest of Ethax, where Nýr lived, was the dwarven and gnomish territory, the great fortress, named Dürandal, in which he lived, was their only city, considering the sheer size of it, it only made sense. He also learned the dwarves and gnomes lived together since their races hobbies and nature synergized extremely well.
Dwarves where the small strong persons and they were experts in mining, smithing, and crafting, whereas gnomes where expert tinkerers alchemists and wise mathematicians. He also learned about the big problem they suffered from, their low fertility rates.
Combat wise, dwarves were more suited to fight as frontline warriors and hunters. He read many times how their hunting abilities where incredible and one peculiar myth about a dwarf with the strength of 12 humans caught his attention. Differently to dwarves, gnomes classes were more commonly related to their wits. A gnome mage, hunter, or healer wasn't a strange sight. Usually, their classes would be related to their professions as one could see in Xoji's case. Xoji was an archer but due to his weird explosive customized weapon, his class ended being a Grenadier, other cases would be how gnome healers would get classes related to alchemy.
In a book that explained the world status system, Nýr learned the following. There were 4 main classes that one could choose from level one to ten, the classes were warrior, mage, hunter, and healer. After level 10, one would be given the choice to get a subclass from the four main classes once again. When combining the main class and the sub-class, one would get a class mastery, one example of a warrior class combined with a mage sub-class would be the Earth Warden Jorr and another example of a priest class combined with a priest sub-class would be the Holy Priest Fiona.
If Fiona had chosen something such as priest class and mage sub-class, her mastery could've ended being Water Priest or something else. Every combination could be made but in the case of mages, it mostly depended on the affinity the person had with the elements. The system would commonly take your personality as a base and create a class according to it.
Nýr was amazed by the incredible system and wondered what his future class would be like. He didn't know what to choose or what fitted him more, so he kept reading and analyzing to create a great plan that would help him reach his maximum potential.
Going back to the geography of Ethax and their races, as previously mentioned the dwarven and gnomish territory was in the northwest. Their territory bordered in the east with The Twisted Forest, located in the north of Ethax and south with the West of Ethax where the Gale Empire was built, where humans lived.
He was glad by this news since this meant he wasn't an abnormal being but could be human-sized. In these 5 months, he had almost reached Corbis in height and the elephant was already bigger than Fiona. Deep down he knew he would be abnormally big even for humans. After all, no 5-month baby would be 3 feet tall.
In the center of Ethax, east of the human empire, was Eden, a multi-racial territory built from the Tower of Miracle. In the center of Ethax, there was an enormous Tower that didn't seem to end and because of this tower, a city was built around it. Many conflicts arose when the tower first appeared along with the systems, the greedy humans who were constantly in war with the other classes wanted a monopoly of the tower but the prideful elves wanted to monopolize it as well.
After years of war, a treaty for peace was made and Eden was created. Every race could enter the city and quickly Eden became the most successful place of Ethax. The tower was a magical place full of treasures, materials, and challenges for the brave. People from every race quickly rushed to adventure inside the tower, dwarves crafted armor for the adventurers with the resources from the tower, alchemists researched plants and new materials, the tower was great. There was limited information about it but Nýr understood how great this place was and greatly wanted to go there.
There were two forbidden zones in Ethax, one was The Twisted Forest, previously mentioned in the north, and The Jungle to the south. Both were high-risk, high-reward places that adventurers above level 20 visited. They were immense and full of monsters and dungeons.
Besides the tower, Nýr also realized the existence of dungeons, from these instances one could get high rewards depending on the difficulty of the dungeons, there were rewards such as skills given by the system, materials, equipment and the most important were companions.
The mystical companions of Ethax were something that had changed the status quo irreversibly. One person could have up to three companions that would never die, for example, Jorr had two Polar Bears that leveled along with him, and every ten levels they would evolve to improve their survivability. When companions were killed, they would go into their owner's body and become a tattoo, which explained Fiona's tattoo of a Moose and Corbis's tattoo of an Ox. Nýr had previously seen their pets so it was easy for him to connect the dots.
The companions could read their owner's thoughts and emotions. They were completely loyal and an invaluable resource whether combat wise or whatever. Nýr instantly knew that Manny would be his life companion and felt glad.
Surrounding The Jungle in the south were the Beastmen Territory in the southwest, below the humans, and Ennelon, the elven kingdom, to the southeast of Ethax, bordering the Beastmen, the jungle, and the East, The Monster Territory, which was ruled by monsters and in constant war with the elves in the southeast, Eden in the center and the dark elves in the northeast.
This takes us to the last territory in the northeast, Nya'lona, the dark elven kingdom, very similar to the dwarves, dark elves were rejected by the elves and most of the races due to their dark magic and practices. Every race beside human and Beastmen were usually rare since they suffered from astronomically low fertility, a problem that has haunted the races for thousands of years.
The geography and political relations between the races of Ethax was quite difficult to understand so Nýr took his time to slowly comprehend it all. After all, this was his new world.
