As the door opened the guard stepped out of the way and allowed Katie to enter. Tom got a look at her, and his heart sank even lower, she no longer looked sweet and innocent she looked like a disfigured homeless lady. As he looked at her it forced him to throw up even though he had nothing left in his stomach he mostly had dry heaves that hurt but a little nasty-tasting slime came up and into the bucket that the warden handed him. Tom apologized for it as he tried to regain his composure.
Katie saw him for the first time since he had hurt her and there were so many emotions going through her at the same time happy that he was there to get her. The anger that he hurt her and that he didn't trust her, as well as the anger that he didn't listen to her. He never asked her where the stuff came from or how she got it. As well as the underlying fear that he hurt her and would do it again.
