Chapter 5 - The Escape

Katie had a hard time sleeping no matter how hard she tried. She was tossing and turning all night. She had the hardest decision of her life, and it was weighing hard on her mind. To stay with her friend even though she was not a real sister, she loved her like one.  In fact, she was treated better by Gina than by her real sisters. If she went, she would have to give up her mom and dad as well as her brothers and sisters to go off to the unknown. Knowing that if she did, she could never come home again. The more she struggled with it the more it kept her awake.

There was only one benefit of her not being able to sleep she noticed her dad sneak into their room quietly threw out the night. He would creep up to Gina's bed get a close look at her then go slinking off out of the room. At one point she thought that she saw him touch her, but it was too dark to tell for sure. She got a nauseous feeling in her belly as she watched him.

Rodger was starting to get nervous as time went along. It was a mixture of nerves and excitement and the anticipation of all the money that was getting ready to come into his hands. The trust for the girls had been set up and all he had to do was sign a few papers in the attorney's office. So that he had complete control over it all. The house was in escrow waiting for all the papers to clear. Getting rid of Gina was a brilliant stroke on top of everything. Getting her out of his hair as well as turning a profit for her sale. He had no love for her at all, in fact, she was a little miss goodie two shoes that thought that she was better than everyone. Her whole family always puts on an act for everyone.

The phone rang Rodger answered it and tried to talk quietly. Katie woke at the sound of the phone since she had not been really sleeping. She heard, "Yes sir... Yes, sir, I have been keeping a close eye on her. What do you mean by the other twin... No sir she is not a twin she is my daughter... No sir that is my middle child Katie... What do you mean you want to take that one to... She is listed too. So, she has to go with Gina... No sir... But my wife would have a fit. She will never let her go... Yes sir... Yes sir... Yes, I know that you have the evidence that implicates me in their deaths. You will have them both." He said reluctantly.

Katie panicked at hearing that and almost let out a scream. When she heard that, knowing he was going to sell her into slavery with Gina.

"But sir I don't understand why you need Katie she is not a twin... Yes, sir... But we changed the will.  What do you mean by leaving her as an inheritor of the business after she hits age?... Yes. Yes... I Understand now sir you will have them both on Friday as planned. I will just tell them that they are going on a trip for the day. Yes Sir... Will do sir... I understand now Sir... Goodbye, sir." Rodger was distressed by what he had to do, and it was not the fact that he was giving away one of his own children. When Katie picked to be with Gina's family, she stopped being one of his children. However, his wife was not going to look at things the same way that he was.  She did not feel as betrayed as he did.

Katie was having trouble she was about to throw up from what she had heard. Not only was he going to sell her and Gina into a life of slavery and it sounded like it was his boss that he was talking to. She remembered meeting him once he was really old and fat and seemed to have scraggly hair growing everywhere but on his head. She remembered the time she saw him they were 13 and she caught him trying to look up Gina's skirt. He kept staring at her feet saying how small they were licking his lips as he watched them.

Katie then realized that he must have been talking about Charles and Rita which brought on another wave of nausea and the wave of fear. How was she going to tell Gina? What was she supposed to say to her? That her dad might be responsible for their deaths. She felt her stomach rumbling, she could wait no longer and dashed for the bathroom. She lost everything she had in her stomach and still felt sick. She continued throwing up and crying harder than ever even when there was nothing left in her to get rid of.

Rodger heard someone moving around and made his way up the stairs he noticed the light on in the bathroom. He listened and heard strange noises and asked, "Are you ok in there?"

Katie jumped at hearing his voice and she couldn't speak, she tried to say she was okay, but no words came out.

Rodger spoke a little louder, "Are you ok in there?" He asked impatiently.

Katie managed to get out a, "Yes." that was just barely able to be heard.

"Hurry up and get back to bed. You both have a full day of work to get done tomorrow." He said in an angry tone.

"Yes, Daddy." She managed to squeak out. Feeling another wave of nausea wash over her. She made sure she held it down not wanting to let him hear her getting sick. She finally was able to quiet her tummy and then washed her face. As she stepped out of the room Rodger was waiting there. Startled she jumped back.

Rodger gave her ass a hard slap and said, "Now get your ass to bed."

She nodded and went into her room and started closing the door.

Rodger said, "No leave it open."

Katie let go of the door, leaving it where it was without looking back or saying anything, and crawled into bed. Where she cried herself to sleep, having one bad dream after the other and reliving what she heard time after time.

Gina awoke to the sound of Katie crying and once again her top was open as she stood up on her bed to see what was wrong with Katie. She quickly re-buttoned her top as she looked at Katie. Katie was still asleep, but she was sobbing hard as she slept. Gina knew that she must be having a nightmare the tears were streaming down her face. "Katie. Katie wake up. Katie wake up." She gradually spoke louder till Katie started waking but Gina made sure that she did not wake Tina and Lina.

Katie awoke to the sight of Gina's face and a concerned look. Katie had to look away she couldn't handle knowing what she knew. She had to tell her what she knew, and it was going to devastate her. Gina asked "What's wrong? You were crying so hard in your sleep. Are you ok?"

Kattie was crying harder with every second and she couldn't even look at her.  Then she finally explained what she heard. How she overheard him more or less confess to setting her parents up and arranging the accident that took their lives. She couldn't say another word for a few minutes. Gina was blown away and all she could do was cry.  It was bad enough to think that it was an accident let alone one that had been arranged by someone that they trusted. After a few minutes, Katie said he is going to sell me to the same guy that he is planning on selling you to.

Gina's mouth dropped open, and she grabbed Katie and pulled her in close for a huge hug. Gina knew that he didn't like her even if she didn't know why and the fact that he was planning on selling her off there was no love or relationship between them. But with Katie, she was his blood, his loving daughter, he was supposed to love her. The day had not even started yet, and they both were exhausted and emotionally crushed.

It was not long till they heard some movement outside their door. Without Knocking Rodger entered the room he seemed to be slightly disappointed that they were not sleeping. Although he did get a great view of Gina's ass as the light shone through the window silhouette it letting her form show threw her clothes. He saw the look on Katie's face and knew that he had been busted staring at her. "Glad to see you are both up.  Now get dressed and get down to the kitchen, and get the breakfasts done." He said in a mean tone trying to cover up what he was doing.

The girls made sure that they dressed identically today everything was exactly the same down to the shoes on their feet and you had to take a close look at them to tell the difference. They held hands as they walked downstairs and into the kitchen.

They saw Rodger's face redden as this pissed him off. He hated seeing them look alike and made his job of keeping track of Gina a lot harder. The girls saw that it pissed him off and for once in her life, Katie was glad that it did.

"You girls will be cleaning every square inch of the house next door as soon as you finish breakfast if you behave, I might let you have lunch," Rodger said as he laughed sadistically.

At this point, it didn't matter to the girls they were getting too nervous to eat anyway they were getting ready for either the best day of their life or the worst. Gina could tell that Katie was very tired and she had not slept that much. So, she made sure to pick up the slack so no one would notice. The end of breakfast didn't come fast enough for the girls, and then the cleanup was a pain. Katie hated that they had to do everything. They used to share the work with the other kids and things went so much faster with them all having a lot less work they each had to do. Today Gina wound up doing most of the work and she didn't mind at all. Gina was worried about Katie even though she lost her parents Katie had come to love them almost as much as she did.  The thing that Gina had to admit was the worst of all was that Katie's dad did all those terrible things and now wants to sell his own daughter too.

As soon as the dishes were put away and the kitchen was cleaned Rodger took the girls over to Gina's home, the only thing that was left in the house was trash. Papers and crumpled stuff that they were using as packing material along with a few things that had broken and then tossed aside with the trash. It was breaking the girl's hearts to see their once-loved home that had been filled with happiness was now empty and abused.

Rodger said, "I want you to empty all the trash out of here and clean everything. Room by room I want it all spotless. Sinks, tubs, and toilets will be spotless."

The girls nodded and set off and started cleaning. They quickly went from room to room collecting all the trash that was left behind. When they started cleaning the bathrooms Gina told Katie to go to sleep in the corner as she cleaned the room knowing how tired she was. The nap was just what Katie needed after the nap she was back to her old self.

Gina was upset when she made it to the downstairs den. Where someone must have dropped a box of her collectible dolls. There were 6 smashed dolls scattered across the floor. Her father had collected one for her every time he had to go away. He would find the prettiest doll that reminded him of her. Her heart broke with every piece of the doll that she had to pick up. Then Gina had an idea that maybe her father could save them one last time. She knew that was what he would want to have happened. Once everything was gathered Gina had Katie take out the trash as she started cleaning everything in the kitchen, he wanted it all to sparkle. She told Katie to hide the bag of trash that had the dolls in it in their room in the footlocker. Katie thought it was weird for her to want them with them being smashed, but she knew how much the dolls were worth and what they meant to Gina.

Gina made sure to do a lot of bending and stretching in front of Rodger so to him it didn't matter what Katie was doing. Gina took her time cleaning the Kitchen until Katie had taken all the trash out and came back to help. It did take all day to clean the huge house and he brought them back in time to start supper. They first had to do the lunch dishes and clean the kitchen of the mess that the others made. While Gina was cleaning Katie had started the prep work and started cooking, she had kept it simple they were both beat and wanted to go to their room early. They both finished at the same time and that allowed the clean dishes to be used again. The family scarfed down the food they were served before Gina and Katie even had a chance to sit down. The girls ate then cleaned the dishes again, at least most of them were already done only leaving the silverware, plates, a few glasses, and one pan for them to clean. The dishes went fast, and they quickly went into their room.

They both slipped into bed early and quickly faded off to sleep. They knew they were tired but going to sleep now would allow them to get up and sneak off later. They had to time it just right, the sun had to be just starting to set when they would have to slip out of the house.

That is where the dolls came in to play, they all had the same hair color as the girls. They could use their hair and some of their clothes to make it look like they were sleeping. The girls only took a short nap and by the time Rodger had checked on them twice, they had both woken up. They heard him but both had made sure their backs had been facing the door and covered up where he couldn't really see them.

When they got up, they quickly placed the broken doll heads on their pillow. Then stuffed pillowcases with the clothes that they thought they could use on their journey. Putting the rest of their clothes under the blankets, making it look like they were there. They wanted to take the bears but didn't have room. Katie pinned a note on the bare, giving it to Tina and Lina hoping that they would remember them fondly. Gina collected the money that was left from her bear, and they used it to form their heads. With any luck, they wouldn't be noticed as missing till morning.

Once they had everything collected, they quietly opened the window and dropped their things out. Then carefully went out of the window and climbed down the tree. Katie had never tried climbing anything before. She was almost caught when her shoe fell off and dropped down in front of the window that Rodger had just been looking out of a few minutes ago. It took longer than they had hoped for the girls to get down. They were going to have to run the whole way if they were going to get to the Windstruck before it left port.

The girls made it to the ship by the time the last of the cargo was being loaded. Captain Filmore was standing on the dock making sure everything was put on board properly. He noticed the girls and had to do a double take thinking he was seeing double at first. Katie walked up to him and said, "Hi Captain this is Gina, the one that I told you about."

Captain Filmore was a short portly but most of the time jolly man that had a stern side but would rather eat drink and be merry with his men that made him a loved captain, but he had a stern side that he showed only when he had to. He simply held out his hand for the rest of the money he didn't care who she was or whether or not she lived or died to him the girls were just more cargo and they could fend for themselves. Gina walked up and handed him the rest of the money and then gave him an extra hundred to make sure they were treated well and had the best food.

Captain Filmore understood that and the hundred went straight into his pocket as additional profit. His attitude changed and he welcomed them aboard. He called to his first mate Will he was 6 foot 4 and towered over everyone else. His face was hard from a lifetime of doing things he really didn't want to do. Will came running up. "See to the girls, and make sure nothing happens to them it's your responsibility that they get food and water. " Then he turned to the girls you are to stay below from dusk till dawn. Keep clear of my men and keep to yourselves. If you cause trouble, I'll toss you overboard."

He turned to Will and said, " Now get them below in their room, and see to the rest of the cargo."

Will said, "This way." In a mean and ruff voice. Great, he thought just one more thing for me to have to deal with.
