Chapter 19 - Shock

After their short exchange, Tydris started to explain a few more things about dragons. One such information was about the brands on the dragon's chosen mates as not only does it allow them to use dragon spells, it allows them to communicate and locate the one they have been connected with and vice versa.

Ethan would tell Harley and Pamela about this as it will allow them to stay in contact even when they are separated. He then informed them that later on, he'll teach them about other spells when masters them.

Pamela wasn't really interested, but Harley on the other hand wanted to try as maybe there was a spell to make things explode.

'That seems like it would be a lot of fun~' She thought.

The final thing that Tydris would teach Ethan was to hide his energy signal as he didn't want people to be able to track him down as Wonder Woman did. He would then sit down cross-legged in the living room and started to meditate as Tydris instructed which made the two curious about what he was doing.

"Don't tell me you're some kind of monk? Did you come from the mountains or something?" Harley asked.

"Mm..no. No mountains and no monk." Ethan shook his head before closing his eyes.

"Is it something we should do to?" Pamela asked.

"I don't think I could do that kind of stuff," Harley replied.

"You're right. You definitely couldn't. You can hardly stay still." The redhead said with a chuckle.

"I could if I wanted to...I just choose not to. Like I choose not to rip yo-"

"I need silence, please." Ethan interrupted before he took a deep breath.

Seconds would pass before suddenly he hears no noise except the sounds of breathing from a very large creature. He'd then open his eyes to see darkness all around, but then he would turn to see a very familiar golden dragon.

'Tydris...Oh no, wait I decided to call you Ty'.

("You are lucky that I do not have my own body anymore or I'd rip that smirk off your face then burn you alive.")

'That's pretty harsh...'

("And that is the least painful thing I could do...") Tydris said as he lowered his head towards Ethan to look him in the eyes.

("That's a good look. You are on your way to becoming a true dragon and once you reach the final stage you can be reunited with your parents.")

'My parents...What were your parents like?'

("My father was the strongest dragon that I'll ever know.") The dragon said as he looked up as if reminiscing something.

("I wish he lived long enough to see my greatness...but it was not meant to be...My mother was an Ice Dragon. They were known to be cold and unfriendly...They were the dragon's with the smallest number due to the low fertility. It was harsh bring up young in the frozen tundra where ice and snow constantly hindered your view") He chuckled as he looked back down at Ethan.

("But somehow when she met my father, she melted in his arms. My father said it was love at first sight when he intruded into their territory on accident. My mother told me that the only reason he was still alive was because she took pity on him as he was extremely injured already. He even only had one wing.") Tydris laughed again.

("But my mother told me that she would never forget when they met....Even when he looked like a single breath could end his life, his eyes were still lit with fire. A fire that refused to go out...a fire that would bow down to no one as they were the masters of their own fate...Amazing, no?")

'Yeah...amazing.'

("You can't stay here for long...so let's cram more knowledge into that teeny tiny brain of yours.")

'I'd punch you in the nose right now.'

("The feeling's mutual foolish successor.") Tydris said as he showed a toothy grin.

Hours would go by in a flash, and within that time Ethan learned how to control is dragonic essence more proficiently and now he could practically become invisible to people who could track him. Before he finished, he asked about Myra and the girls, but Tydris told him not to worry about Myra. However, for Harley and Pamela, he'd simply needed to touch their brands to 'turn' them off.

Simply put, he was denying the ability for his dragonic essence within them to exit which meant they couldn't use spells anymore.

However, they still could communicate and locate each other.

At Wayne Manor, a woman with black hair was slowly waking up after what happened the other day.

'Ugh..." Diana groaned, still feeling a bit sore all over her body, but mainly her arms. "Did I really lose?..." She mumbled after recalling what happened to her.

*Creek* The door to the room opened, revealing it to be Alfred who had came to check on her.

"Ah! Princess Diana, you are awake." Alfred said, showing a rare smile. "I'll inform Master Bruce of your awakening. Would you like for me to bring you anything?"

"I need...water."

"Is that all? Are you sure you're not hungry?" Alfred asked.

"No...I just need water. Thank you for asking."

"It is my pleasure. I shall return shortly." Alfred replied before leaving, however before the door closed a familiar face would walk in wearing casual clothes.

"Barbara?" Diana slowly sat up, revealing her body to be covered in bandages.

"Looks like I'm not the only hero to be knocked out in Gotham City. You think they had it out for us?" Barbara said as she sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Although it looks like I got away easy? What hit you?"

"A man." Diana frowned, ripping the bandages off.

"Ah?..." Barbara gave a wry smile at the comment before continuing to talk. "Who was it? A big-time villain? I don't remember having a strong one in Gotham besides Bane, but he's locked up right now."

"I'm not particularly sure of his identity, but it seems to be Harley Quinn's new love interest," Diana answered.

Barbara gasped," No way?! Someone loves that crazy psychiatric patient?"

"Yes, and is strong enough to best me in battle without skills. Although he did breathe fire at the end.."

"like a dragon?"

"Yes...exactly..." Diana said as she showed a complicated expression. 'Could he be that giant dragon?... If he is...I need to find him again. I have to stop him. But now I can't sense the energy anymore...did he learn how to mask it?...w-'

"Hello! Earth to Diana, are you there?" Barbara asked, waving her hand in front of the heroine's face.

"Ah...yes, what is it?"

"I was asking do you know what they were doing there?"

"Well...they robbed Penguin."

"Villains robbing villains?" Barbara looked confused.

"Indeed, and besides the Penguin..no one else was killed by them. I find that it was also strange for Poison Ivy was there with what looked like her twin. "

"Poison Ivy?.... She doesn't have a twin?" Barbara mused, stroking her chin. "Well...I'm going to go and leave you be. I have college exams to study for and I refuse to make a lower grade than my roommate.'

" A rivalry huh?" Diana grinned.

"We are not rivals, I just don't want to lose to her," Barbara said in a fake deep voice, clenching her fist for dramatic effect. She'd hold this for only a few seconds before falling into a fit of laughter. "Did I sound like a standard protagonist there?"

Diana let out a sigh before giving a small smile. "Spot on."

Barbara would wave before leaving the room, and Diana would slowly climb out of bed.

'A rival huh?....'

Soon night would fall before they knew it and it was decided beforehand that only Ethan and Harley would go to get her hyenas as there was no sense in taking everyone.

Pamela and Myra wanted to disagree, but he convinced them to do something else for him, and that was to get in contact with Selina as he needed her expertise for what he needs to do next.

"What exactly do you need her for? You know she fools around a bit with Batman." Pamela frowned.

"True, but with the right incentive she'll help us. All I need from her information on the criminal network. She's been around a lot, so she must know something. Can I trust you with this?" Ethan said.

"Do you even need to ask?" Pamela smiled, cupping his face in her hands. "I'll do anything for you." She said, looking directly into his red eyes before giving him a kiss, causing Harley to roll her eyes.

"I'm not 100 percent sure she'll go along with me, but I'll do my best." Pamela smiled as she places her hands on his chest. 'I feel like I'm a high school girl all over again...my heart flutters whenever I'm near him...I don't completely know what you want to do in this life, but don't you dare think I'll let you leave me...you are mine...just as I am yours.'

'That's good to hear'. Ethan replied mentally to her.

"Ah?!" Pamela shrieked hearing his voice inside of her head, and she immediately started to blush with her mouth open from shock.

He heard everything!

"Damn...I'm still not used to it.."

Ethan chuckled at her reaction, "Just be careful and if you need me. I'll know where to find you." He grinned as he goes in for a kiss, but is stopped by Harley who squeezed in between them.

"Alright Alright! Enough of this! We have work to do." Harley groaned as she pushed Ethan out the door. He could have used his strength to stay in place, but decided against it and let her push him out.

Once they were gone, Myra would turn to Pamela and tug on her shirt.

"Yes?..' Pamela always thought it was weird to have Myra around as every time she looked at her it was like looking into a mirror. However, at the moment she somehow thought she looked a bit different today.

" I...have a question," Myra said.

"How...How do you get close to Master?.."

After Ethan and Harley left the apartment he would pick her up and leap into the air as she screamed with excitement.

"Where exactly is the plant?" He asked, landing on top of a building before leaping onto another in quick succession.

"Hahahaha!" Harley laughed with her hands up while twirling her bat in the air. "It should be...huh...you know I'm not used to knowing where to go from way up here." She mused while stroking her chin.

"Now that I think about it. How come we didn't take Pammy's car? You going to carry me and my sweeties home?" Harley asked.

"That's the plan." He answered as he continued to travel from rooftop to rooftop, being as discrete as possible.

A few people would see a shadow from up above, but they shrugged it off as them seeing things

"I would say that's crazy, but it'd make me seem like a hypocrite...am I using that word right? Probably. Anyways let me down at the next building. So, I can see where we at."

After landing on the next building, Harley would leap out of his arms and run to the edge to look down at the city of Gotham.

Harley would begin to look from left to right, figuring out the location of the lab, "Hmm..if that's there...and we're here..."

Soon her ears would perk up to hear some sort of conflict not too far away from their location. She'd squint her eyes trying to see what it was, and she'd see someone quite familiar fighting with what looked like two furry animals.

Normally, she would never be able to hear or see from this far away, but she thought nothing of it.

"Eh...Well, if you look at that. The big bad bat is fighting..." Harley's eyes widen as she gasped.

"My babies!! Honeybun!" She turned to Ethan who was already in the process of picking her before leaping towards the conflict.

It would seem that the Joker was trying to rob a bank, something he hasn't done for quite some time, but after the incident Harley caused, he needed to gather some funds.

Harley didn't even notice the guy, she was too desperate to have the two hyenas by her side as the highly dangerous animals were there to cheer her up when things weren't going so well with the Joker.

It was a wonder how they even bonded with her, but there they were listening to her commands like obedient dogs.

Could she have a power she doesn't know about?

"Don't worry! Momma is coming!"
