After school, Rex and John went to meet up with Avery. John waited outside the classroom, but got disappointed when nobody walked out. John sighed, and turned to leave when two girls walked out. Both were pretty, but John had his eyes on the shy and naive looking girl on the right while Rexs eyes almost bulged out when he saw the beauty with a cold personality.
John smiled at Avery, and she smiled back but suddenly looked a little nervous. He was confused, but then her mom walked out. Her mom looked exactly like a strict mom, with an indifferent face, glasses, and a book in her hands.
She looked at the two boys, and seeing their good looks as well as them waiting for her daughter made her immediately guess their purpose. She frowned, thinking if her daughter had secretly gotten a boyfriend.
"Hello Miss, I am John." The boy said respectfully. The other boy was surprised, and also introduced himself as Rex.
"Stay away from my daughter." She said, as she walked away from the 4.
John frowned, 'How rude!' He thought.
He smiled back at Avery, and talked with her. "Hey, remember me?"
"Of course!" She said.
"I was going to go to the park with Rex, wanna join? Your friend can come if she wants to!" He said, cheerfully, and put his arm around Rex.
"Hm...I don't think my mom would like that. But I've never been to the park before! Okay, I'll go wit-" but before she could speak, the cold girl started speaking.
"No, we need to listen to auntie." She said. John frowned. "She can make her own choices, as her friend wouldn't you want to go to the park with her?"
The two started arguing, while Rex and Avery watched dumbly at how it had become a debate all of a sudden.
Finally, John grabbed Averys hand. "Avery, don't you want to go to the park? I'll let you choose, if you don't want to maybe I'll invite you some other time." He said, as John and the cold girl glared at each other.
"Um...ok, but only if Lacey agrees to come too."
"How about it Lacey? Maybe the sunlight at the park can help melt the ice around you." John said. Lacey felt that it was some sort of challenge, and agreed.
The 4 walked to the park. It had a spot where many things you would expect at a park would be, like a slide, a swing, and a playhouse.
John lead them somewhere else, and after walking a little deeper in the forest Avery got a little scared, after all she had read of many murder stories of victims being led into forests!
To her relief, John stopped. "If you gasp, you owe me a dollar!" He said, and walked through a clearing of vines and bushes. The 3 were curious, and walked past the clearing and were stunned. Inside was a cave, but the cave had a little pond in the middle with some trees surrounding it. An opening where sunlight could come in lighted the area up.
John stuck his check out and said "Haha! I found this area, and nobody else had found it! Look how beautiful it is!"
The 3 tried to not gasp, but it was simply something straight out of a movie! Even Laceys expression warmed a little just looking here!
John led them to the other side of the river, and their laid some low grass that looked perfect for swimming. He had 2 blankets in his bag, and he set them apart 10 feet from each other.
"Okay, lets spend some time to get to know each other! I'll pick randomly, eenie meenie minie oh wow, my finger pointed at Avery! What a coincidence! Okay, you two can go to that blanket." John said shamelessly. Avery looked glad, and it was obvious to tell she really thought it had been random while Rex looked betrayed and Lacey looked pissed.
They went to their separate blankets, and Rex started talking with Lacey but she would respond with a sound. Over time, she would use a word instead of a sound which Rex found a progress.
On the other blanket was much better progress. John and Avery chatted like best buddies, and laughter and cheers were heard every other second. The chemistry between John an Avery was perfect, and John felt like he had missed out on the perfect girl in his last life.
Soon, and hour passed. "Hey, when do you go home with your mom? An hour passed."
Avery gasped, and started packing up. "Hopefully my mom hasn't noticed! Usually at this time I'm at the bus stop waiting while she is doing some extra work! It was nice meeting you John, can we come here tomorrow too?"
"Of course, you don't need to ask to spend time with me! Just come!" He said with a smile. Avery smiled back, and kissed him on the cheek before running out with Lacey.
John looked like a kid in love, holding his cheek with a shocked gaze.
"This cheek...I can never wash it again."
"Your weird dude! Hey, I made lots of progress with Lacey! I even got her to say a sentence! I feel happy just talking to her, so luckily for me I don't need responses!" Rex said.
John chuckled, and they joked around until John had to take a different turn to get to his house and they split up.
When John got back home, he did a few bets and worked out more before eating dinner and making a little present to make Averys mom open up to him. After all, to conquer the girl you must conquer the relatives!
"Eh? Son, your making a present? Don't tell me you found a girl you like, listen, you should get to know her before making a present for her!"
"No, this is for the girls mom! I want her to like me, so then I can make her daughter like me too!"
His dad looked shocked, and said "Son...that's how I got your mother! Haha, I shall help you with this! I hope you have this same conversation and experience with your son as well!"
What followed was a son and father making a present made to woo a mother, while Johns own mom watched giggling.
