Mýa was at 2nd base and Lola came up to hit. After Lola, Reagan hits, and then Illa. Those are the teams bigger hitters including Mýa. So Mýa is very hopeful for this inning, and she feels confident that she will get to home plate. Coach Karla gave Lola the hit signal.
However the first two pitches were balls and the catcher wasn't the best at catching high and low pitches. So the coach gave Mýa a steal sign and Lola a hold/don't swing sign. As soon as the Pitcher released the ball, Mýa ran as fast as she could to the base. She slid and quickly hopped up while staying on base. She then made sure to call time because if she got off the base by accident and the person tagged her she would be out. The Umpire gave her time and she stood up and dusted herself off a bit. She gave her coach a high five and got ready to go again. Now Lola just needed to hit her home.
The pitch Lola held on was actually a ball also, so Coach Karla told her to swing only if she really liked the pitch. The next pitch was a strike but Lola didn't like it. The next pitch, however, was another strike and Lola liked it. She hit the ball very hard deep into the left field, center field gap. This brought Mýa home and brought Lola all the way to third base because of her super good hit and an overthrow that was meant to go to second but went towards first more.
Mýa joined the rest of the team as they cheered super loud. "Nice Hit Lola!" She yelled, then added, "Alright Reagan, your turn, hit her home!"
Reagan walked up and smiled at Mýa before turning to Coach Karla to get her signal. Of course, Coach Karla gave her a hit signal. But on the first pitch, the ball hit Reagan. So it was called a Deadball and she got to 'walk' to first. Now Lola was on third, Reagan was on first, Illa was up to bat, and there was only one out. While Illa walked up to the batters box and got her signal Mýa was getting a drink and taking her helmet off. She didn't check to see what signal it was. When she looked up, she saw Reagan steal 2nd base and Illa didn't swing even though it was called a strike. Now Reagan was on 2nd base and Illa just needed to have a good hit to hit Lola and Reagan in.
The next two pitches were balls. The fourth pitch, however, was a nice strike and Illa hit it well. She brought both Lola and Reagan in and made it safely to first. Now there was one out, Illa was on first base, Mýa's team had 4 runs, and Zalina was up to bat.
By the time the opposite team got three outs, Mýa's team (Breezey Girls of ******* **) had gotten 5 runs. Which is a great way to start of a game. Now it was Mýa's time to be on the field. She had her shin guards on when there were two outs so she quickly put on her chest protector, batting glove, glove, and helmet. She was catching Cassie, who had looked very good earlier today and during warm ups.
When the first batter went up, Mýa called out the play and made sure everyone was ready. Her Coach Rick decided what pitches Cassie would pitch, and he was her dad so he knew what she could and couldn't do better than most. He decided they would start off differently, he had her pitch a change up because she was looking good with them. She pitched a beautiful change up, it caught the batter off guard, but it was a strike and the batter hit it. The batter hit a high foul ball towards first base, which Reagan who was playing first base caught. It was an easy first out.
Soon they got another two outs and went to hit again. The other team has only scored 2 runs. Everyone was feeling confident; they had played and beat this team earlier in the tournament, they were 3 runs ahead in the second inning, and they looked good! The second inning, they got 2 more runs and Mýa was up to bat next inning. When she went back to the field in the 2nd inning she caught very well, made a throw out to third, caught a foul ball out, and didn't let any people steal safely at all.
When it was her time to hit in the third inning she walked up confidently. Coach Karla gave her a bunt signal, which was unusual but Mýa was willing to do. She squared to bunt, but it was a ball so she pulled back. The next signal told her to hit away. When the next pitch came, she didn't like it and thought it was a ball. However, the Umpire called a strike. She had to stay smart and swung and made contact with the next strike. The next few pitches were, a ball, a foul, a foul, a ball, a foul. She now had a full count 3 balls and 2 strikes. If she missed a ball she swung at she was out, if she didn't swing at bad pitches she might walk. Right now she was having a battle, both the pitcher and Mýa wanted to win, and Mýa was ready to win.
Coach Karla told her to keep hitting. Her dad yelled out and said, "You got this Mýa, keep battling. Your looking really good."
Also, both Coach Mark and Coach Rick told her to stay smart. The next pitch she fouled, and then the perfect pitch came. It was slightly inside and right above her knee in height. It seemed like time slowed down, and she hit the ball as hard as she could. She hit it very hard over the left fielders head and made it to third. She hit a triple! Her whole team was cheering and she was trying to stop the huge stupid grin on her face. She then heard Zeke yell out to her in congratulations. She turned towards him with a huge smile on her face and he smiled back. She even noticed Riley jumping up and down, not even really understanding what had happened, but happy because Mýa was happy. How adorable.
By the end of the game, The Breezey Girls won 9-4, which was a very good win for the semifinals. They had to play the next game right after the semifinals. They made sure they were prepared for it. Their three best pitchers, Cassie, Reagan, and Nora were all ready and both Mabel and Mýa felt perfectly fine and could both catch a whole game if needed.
They started off as the home team and they only let the other team get 2 runs the first inning. Then they went to bat and scored 2 runs. But the next inning, the other team scored 4 runs and they only scored 1 that inning. The score was now 6-3 in the 3rd inning and Breezey Girls were losing. Before the end of the 4th inning they managed to score another 2 runs, but still lost 7-5. They played a good game, had a good tournament, and won second place.
After the team huddle, the whole team yelled out, "Breezey on 3! 1, 2 , 3, Breezey!", then Mýa went to get her bags and leave. She rolled her main bag, carried her catchers bag on her shoulder, and held her water jug in her free hand as she walked towards her dad. Ms. Elly, Riley, and Zeke were also waiting for her by her dad.
She talked to the family of three for a few minutes, thanked them for coming and such. Then she got in the car with her dad and they drive home. They talked about how well she did, things the team need to work on, things she could improve on a bit, and future possibilities.
When they got home, they unloaded the car, ate some food, then went their separate ways. She showered and played in her bed. It wasn't super late, only like 6:30 pm. but she was very tired and had school tomorrow. She texted with the team, who made fun of her because they saw her talking to Zeke at the end and how he congratulated her. Mýa feel asleep before it was even 8:00 pm.
