"So you have any idea of how we're going to find him?" Aliss looks at Dionis.
"I'm pretty sure I can sniff him out"
"Yeah but how. You haven't seen him in years what are you 25 now?"
"She's back now". Jane nudges Dionis.
"I can see that." He sighs.
"Oh I know you missed me. I'll tell you someone else who missed you. Agnes. Can't believe she remembers you after all this time, especially after you scared the shit outta her going all berserk."
"How's she doing?" He looks over at Jane.
"Oh she's getting married".
"Then why is she worried about me?"
"Hell if I know. Ask her yourself. I'm sure she's in the village."
"We're not going to the village."
"Why not? I'm pretty sure that's where dad would be. On a bottle in some broads house." Aliss shrugs.
"Or a bar" Jane nudges Dionis. "We should check.
"I don't think a dragon would be welcome in a bar." He chuckles.
"You'd be surprised." She smirks.
The three walk into town, the bar on the far left, a grocery shop on the far right, an armory in the center of them both, a butcher, a baker, and a carpenter along with homes surrounding. More and more people exiting their homes walking into town.
"It's more alive than when I was here" Dionis looks around at the people.
"Well since you took care of those witches, people have been safer" Aliss smiles. "Am I still a hero around here?
Jane takes a paper off of the Carpenter post wall and shows him an old drawing of him that says "Dragonling, Young Hero Disappearance."
"I would say so".
Dionis shakes his head smelling the bar. "Ugh, I'm glad I've never been to a bar for ver here."
"Eh, it's not that bad around this time. It's at night when you don't wanna be there."
The sound of a door being kicked open is heard from the far right. "Stay the fuck out!! Final warning!!" The owner, a 28 year old man sees Aliss and smiles at her after kicking a drunk out. "There's my favorite customer"
"Hey Paolo" she smiles. "You know my baby sister Jane".
Jane smiles and waves.
"How's the hunting going?" He nods at her
"Better and better" Jane chuckles.
Paolo looks at Dionis before his eyes widen. "And he is?"
"This is my brother, he's been away but he's returned for our mother."
Dionis extends his hand "Nice to meet you"
Paolo shakes his hand and nods. "You as well my boy. Cmon in, I know you're looking for him… he's uh… in his usual booth. Has a woman with him this time."
Dionis sniffs him out and finds him in a corner with an older woman sitting on his lap with a large cup of beer.
"Give your mother my condolences."
"Thank you" the three of them say.
Dionis looks at the two as they nod.
"If I need you two, I'll call."
Aliss and Jane nod.
Dionis walks over and sits in front of George.
George kisses the woman's neck vigorously as she chugs the beer.
"So this is what you've turned to? I leave for four years and it's beer and skanks uglier than the witches I killed." George looks over.
"And who the fuck do you think!?"
Dionis stares at him intensely.
George smiles and laughs. "My boy!!!! Haha!!" He moves the woman over and stands. "No hug?!" Dionis keeps staring. "Ah, that's ok. Hey! Hey everyone! This is my boy!! The witch hunter!!" He laughs loudly. Yeah! My boy is the witch hunter!!."
Aliss looks at Dionis who looks back and shakes her head.
She sighs and sits back down.
"You still didn't answer my question."
"Yeah yeah I heard what the fuck you said. What fucking make you think, you can come in here and talk down to me like that huh??? Boy I raised you. Gave you a home, food, a place to sleep, love, and then you go on and leave because you're a coward!.
Dionis raises his brow. "Oh I'm a fucking coward???"
"Yes yes yes! A big fucking coward all because you're a fucking dragon!, a selfish coward who only cares about himself and not his family!"
Paolo turns his attention over at what George said and walks over to Aliss and Jane. "That's the dragon boy from years ago??? Why didn't you say anything?!" He looks at Aliss "Especially you".
"Safety reasons…"
Paolo nods as people start talking amongst themselves.
"Do you hear yourself now?"
Dionis laughs. "I left, to protect you, all of you, Mom, Jane, Aliss and you. If people knew that a dragon was around, I don't know what would've happened so I left because I knew there was another man in the house who could take care of our girls but apparently I was fucking wrong. I shouldn't even call you a man, because what man abandons his sick wife and leaves his two daughters alone with them?"
"I was scared ok!!!. I was scared!"
"Yeah me fucking too, but you don't see me in a fucking bar getting drunk and cheating on my wife now do you?!"
The bar door opens as a group of men walk in surveying the bar.
George slams his hands down standing and faces Dionis with an intense glare.
"I dare you." Dionis glares back at him.
"Ohhh dragon boyyyy!"
Dionis sighs and looks at Jane who nods taking out her sword holding it at one of their necks.
"Sit. Back. Down. Don't ever return to Mom, or the girls. Or else I will kill you."
One of the hunters throws an ace at Dionis who catches it with his tail.
People start to run out of the bar.
"Hey Paolo I'm sorry for what's about to happen to your bar." He flings the ace back cutting off the heads of two hunters.
Aliss's eyes widen as the head lands on the table next to her.
The hunter next to Jane swings his sword at her, as she cuts his head off and kicks it toward another hunter.
Dionis grabs a table breaking it in two as more hunters enter the bar. He sees Aliss cowering and attaches spikes to one half of the table handing it to her.
"You with us?!"
She stares frozen in her spot
"Aliss!"
She breaks and stares at him.
"Are you with us?!"
She nods quickly and takes the table.
He nods and shows her how to bash with the table. "All you need to do" Don't do anything over the top.
She nods as a hunter stabs him causing him to groan.
She slams the table over the hunters head the spikes impaling him.
"Great job!" Jane smiles giving a thumbs up.
"Paolo out the bar now!!" Dionis inhales bringing the girls down under the tables and blows a wave of fire burning the rest of the hunters.
Jane rolls over behind them cutting off the kegs of two hunters throwing them in the fire wave, screaming surrounding the bar.
George's eyes widen as he watches the bodies burning.
Jane stands and uses a potion to extinguish the fire.
"No way Sylvi taught you that?!"
Jane smirks.
Dionis looks at Aliss who is shaking.
"I killed someone…"
"Aghhh!" George runs over slamming a chair over Dionis who protects himself and the girls with his wings.
"Monster…"
Dionis stares in shock and nods slowly, Aliss putting a hand on his shoulder.
"He's drunk…"
"The truth comes out when you're drunk" he chuckles grabbing George with his tail and choking him."
Jane puts grips Dionis's arm.
"Don't make what he called you true…"
George stares at him while choking.
Dionis growls and let's him go.
The girls get up with him and start walking away.
George coughs holding his throat.
"That's right listen to your two bitches"
Dionis's eyes widen and he looks at Aliss and Jane, tears falling from their eyes.
Dionis walks back inside claws coming out of his hands.
"There he is."
Dionis scratches his face leaving a gash and headbutts him out cold.
"Paolo you good?!"
"Yes sir!"
"Sorry about your bar!!"
"Ehhhh, needed to relocate anyway. Take care you three."
Dionis nods picking George up over his shoulder.
"Girls?" He takes their hands
They both look down.
"Kill him." Jane sniffles.
"I wanna see it" Aliss looks up at him.
"I know something better."
- Rosa and Orin -
"Thanks Sylvi, this shouldn't take as long as it should." Rosa sets the egg in Dionis's room hidden from his sight.
"Of course you two, I'm sure he'll be very excited" she smiles.
"How long should it take?" Orin looks at the egg.
"A day maybe two. I would take much much longer but because of his contribution and this spell. It's faster." Sylvi claps her hands happily. "Now if you'll excuse me, the little one is causing an issue" "Awwww ok, let us know when they have arrived" Rosa smiles waving.
"Of course loves". She leaves rubbing her belly.
Rosa looks at Orin and flutters her eyes.
Orin sighs. "With Dionis and this new one, we will see…"
Rosa smiles happily and claps."
- Back with Dioni, Jane and Aliss -
Climbing back up the mountain, Dionis holds George on his back, while Jane carry's Aliss
"Have you been up here before?"
"This is where I fought that thing I told you about now sssh."
"You can't fly up here because???" Jane looks over at him.
"Noise. Don't want our customers to leave now would we?"
Dionis's eyes change as he focuses finding a nest. "That's what we want." He points as Jane and Aliss look ahead seeing the nest.
"Ugh…"
"Yeah it sucks, burning them works. Or just smoke." He flies up slowly "Wait here and don't move."
"Hurry up, Aliss has packed on a lot more than last time you saw her"
Aliss slaps her head.
Dionis lands gently and drops George's body.
The flies swarm towards him and George's body.
"Yeah yeah I'm leaving enjoy the meal!!!" He jumps off the cliff "On my back now!!!"
Jane jumps off with Aliss
Dionis switches into his full dragon form as the girls land on his back.
"You look incredible!" Aliss laughs.
"Quite majestic sir"
Dionis rolls his eyes. I'm taking you two home.
"No no wait I wanna see the fairies you talked about."
"You sure? I was gonna take you back to mom see how she's doing. Thennnn I'll take you."
"Yeahhh, guess you're right. You better take me idiot."
"There she is".
- An Hour Later -
Dionis lands and shifts back into his human form, the girls jumping off his back.
"That was amazing". Aliss punches his back.
"Gonna tell mom?" Jane smirks.
"Fuck yeah!" She laughs.
The three walk in to see Marissa up and cooking.
"What are you doing up?" Jane and Aliss put their hands on their hips.
"Jeez I can't cook?" She chuckles.
"That medicine did its thing I see. Wow that was fast." Dionis closes the door.
"I'll say." Jane walks over kissing her cheek before sitting down. "How are you feeling?"
"Better than before I'll tell you that. I figured you would all be back so I made some of you guys favorite. For old times sake." She smiles.
The three look over at the mashed potatoes, greens, cornbread, rice and beans.
Dionis sets the table as the girls help him.
Marissa smiles and watches them.
- Five Minutes Later -
"So how was it?" She looks at the three.
"He was there. Drunk with some other drunk older woman. He caused a whole scene that made me the big picture. Soon enough there were some bandits who thought it would be wise to try and take on a dragon. Gotta help Paolo build a new bar."
"Where is he now?"
"On a mountain. With mutant flies. Best not to say what they do while eating."
Marissa shakes her head. "I'd like to know."
"So would we"
Aliss looks at Jane before they look at him.
"Well. Originally. I was going to kill him quickly after he called me a monster… then he said something about the girls. That's where he crossed the line. Those flies eat you from the inside out but slowly. They enjoy their meal so they say. He should be awake by now feeling every single bite."
"Good." The girls say.
"Wish we could've stayed."
"Too dangerous. They would've came after us too. That nest was big enough."
"Oooh! And we rode on Dionis as a full dragon ma! Ohhhh he was so beautiful"
Marissa giggles kissing his cheek".
"We appreciate who you are hon."
"Good to hear you guys don't think I'm selfish."
"He called you selfish? Tsk… he has no right."
"Well, we know for a fact that he is wrong for everything he said. We really do love and appreciate everything you've done for us honey. Don't let what dad said get to you. You are not a monster. Those witches? Yeah. You're our savior, and always will be." Aliss smiles at him.
Dionis nods and looks down into his food.
"Awwwww Aliss, that was beautiful."
"Aww not you teasing me mama" she sighs
Jane laughs with Dionis.
"No one is teasing you… ok maybe a little bit that was really one of the most beautiful things you've said to him."
Dionis nods and smiles hugging her. "Thank you…"
Marissa looks around and wipes tears from her eyes.
- An hour later -
"I'll bring them back ma, Aliss wants to see the fairies I mentioned."
"I'm staying here Dionis, I'll visit you tomorrow night." Jane waves.
"Gotcha, you know the way?"
"Nah but I can track ya."
"Of course you can." He hugs her. "Love you"
"Love you too"
Dionis hugs Marissa. "Love you mom"
"Love you too my boy".
Dionis leaves with Aliss.
She bumps his arm and looks at him. "Anyone on your mind?"
"Hmm?"
"A girl man" she laughs.
"What? No." He chuckles.
"Awwww you're still an awkward little boy"
"There she is again."
"I'm serious man" she chuckles. Mom has already been on Jane about that. You've got to find you someone. Or something I don't know what you're into. Maybe you'll meet an orc or some kinda water nymph."
"Don't really have time."
"Oh yeah what are you doing that requires so much time?"
"Training."
"You can do that anytime you want, I know you don't train all day. You must have some time."
"I go hunting for food to help Orin and Rosa cook, I go out with Hyker and Kale they help with more dragon training since I still need more experience."
"You're still going through dragon training?! So you turning full dragon was what 36 percent?"
"Pretty much yeah" he nods his head.
"Bullshit." She laughs
"I'm serious" he laughs.
"He is right" Hyker and Kale land next to them.
Aliss jumps holding her chest. "What the fuuuck…"
"This the other one?" Hyker points at her.
"Other one?" She stares at Hyker. "I have a name asshole."
"Don't mind Hyker. This is him every hour of the day. As for me." He holds his hand out. "Names Kale, this is my brother Hyker."
Hyker keeps walking. "So who's that screaming up on the mountain?"
"You can hear that???"
"Dragon?" He peeks at Aliss.
Aliss tilts her head before stepping forward. Dionis stops her and looks at her.
She huffs and keeps walking.
"Half dragon Hyker, don't be a dick, this is my sister Aliss. And yes, that's our bastard father."
"Nice. What'd he do?" Hyker looks over.
"He called me a monster and my sisters bitches. The monster… I didn't quite mind but he had no reason to say that about his own daughters."
Kale pats Aliss's shoulder.
"Parents right?". Hyker cracks his knuckles.
"Relax Hyker she knows you're a big bad dragon no need to keep flexing off." Kale smirks at Dionis.
Dionis snorts. So that's what he's doing huh. Gotten a little jealous of Kale and Sylvi huh?
Hyker holds chokes Dionis with his tale and Kale with his hand.
Aliss takes a knife out and holds it at his neck. "Let. My. Brother. Go."
Kale and Dionis look at each other.
"Better do what she says Hyker, that human has a strong will to kill anyone who comes between her and her family."
Rosa smirks cooking salmon.
Hyker growls and let's them go moving away to the training room.
Aliss takes her knife and hides it.
Rosa smiles at her. "You must be Aliss, I am Rosa."
Orin walks out and waves.
"This is my husband Orin. Your brother saved us years ago, and now we are in debt. He helps us, we help him. We built him this home."
"It is finally nice to meet you both." Aliss smiles.
Rosa looks at Kale. "How is she?"
"Healthy as ever."
"Keep her that way. She knows what to do."
Aliss looks around confused.
"Remember the witches? They had a sister. Only she's good. Kale here is with her anddd they are having a child together."
"See! Everyone but you is getting with someone. Can you two conjure up a girlfriend for him?"
"Please don't" Dionis laughs and sits on a couch.
Rosa flies up to Aliss and looks at her closely.
Aliss stares at her before Rosa picks a strand of hair off her head.
"What was that for???" She pouts.
"You'll see soon enough."
Dionis sighs.
Rosa shrugs "Sorry, we're working on something for Sylvi. You go show her your room then come eat."
"We already ate, but I'll eat again later"
"Shit I'll eat" Hyker walks into the kitchen and makes himself a plate.
Kale sits down and looks at Dionis. "You'll be training with Hyker for a few weeks. I'll be with Sylvi for a while."
Dionis nods looking at Hyker who waves his fingers.
Aliss grumbles.
"I'll be nice sweetheart."
Dionis chuckles taking Aliss to his room.
"Ooooh, this suits you. You made this yourself?"
"Nah Rosa and Orin helped out."
"Get yourself a girlfriend"
"Oh my God you're still on that?" He chuckles laying back.
"Yes, and I'll keep bugging you until you do. I want you to be happy. Jane and I won't always be here and you need someone else besides Rosa and Orin with you."
"I guess." He closes his eyes
She punches his chest. "You know I'm right."
"Yeah yeah"
She sits next to him and stretches. "Quick nap?"
"You or me?" He opens his eyes.
"Who do you think?" She lays her head on his lap.
Dionis snorts.
- One Hour Later -
Rosa looks into the room to see Aliss laying on Dionis's lap.
"She used to fall asleep like this when we were kids." He smiles stroking her hair. "Funny to hear how she talks, and I'm older".
"Shows how much she loves you, and how much she's grown."
"That's what makes me laugh. She's always been this way. Whether she wants to show it or not."
"You mean a lot to them."
"Yeah." He plucks Aliss's cheek
She opens her eyes and bites his leg
"Oww!!"
"Then don't pluck me"
He laughs and flips her off his lap.
She tackles him down and pins him.
"You're forgetting I'm a dragon."
"You don't have the guts."
He smirks and flips her over pinning her down with his tail.
She hope she her mouth going to bite his tail.
"Nope!" He lets her go and flies out the room "I win!"
"You're a cheater!!" She pouts chasing him.
Rosa smiles and closes his door.
Dionis sits on the roof of the house. "Hey slowpoke"
"You cheated"
"Did not." He jumps down. "Cmon I'll take you home now it's getting dark".
Aliss punches his arm and walks ahead.
He rubs his arm and follows next to her.
"Don't forget what I said"
"Yeah yeah yeah." He hugs her. Love you.
"Blehh. Love you too." She walks inside and closes the door.
Dionis walks back home looking down at the ground.
