As we sat in the run down building, decided to look for any other snacks inside the house. Skai decided to fall asleep beside me while the others watched TV and Nico found the coffee machine. It honestly felt kind of boring after a bit. I was expecting for something to pop out of nowhere, or Vanitas and Roland would come out and tell us where to go next.
I thought about reading my book. Thanks to Zane, I can read the words properly and understand what they are exactly. Turns out, they're supposed to be these scary monsters that would hide underneath little kids beds. They were also known to be vicious, savage creatures who cared about nothing but power and strength, which I found confusing, since I recalled them to be kind and caring from my visions. Maybe they're like that to only their companions?
Eventually, I got bored of that and played with Pebbles. Apparently, he likes chin scratches. Keith glanced at me and asked me the weirdest question after an hour of sitting. "So, how long is your tongue?"
Nico finished one cup of coffee and was going back to make another. I stared at the shifter, dumbfounded. "What?" Skai shifted in his sleep, but relaxed soon enough. Pebbles left my hands and hid in Skai's locks, making the horned boy smile a bit.
"How long is your tongue?" Eli bit back a laugh while Jay looked astonished.
"It's common for Kyrons to have slightly long tongues," Nico revealed his tongue that fell past his chin and curved inwards a bit at the end, halfway down the neck. "It's the only thing Lorians and Kyrons have in common. Even your brother has an average tongue length." He pointed at Skai as he too revealed his tongue to just past his chin once he woke up.
Pebbles joined in and stood tall and brave, before slapping his tongue over his eye. My brother giggled at it's actions and scratched his chin, earning a pleased croak. "Haha, not what we were asking for, but it's good enough." He crawled down to his shoulder and snuggled into my brother's hoodie. "Though, I guess it's the next best thing to solving dry eyes for you lizards, huh."
I glanced at my mouth and thought about it. We really are strange creatures, huh. I thought. Lina glanced at Grai, who returned to Ash at some point. "Hey, we should give you a makeover!" She beamed. Nico stifled his laugh while Ash looked disgusted by just the thought.
"Lay a brush on my face and I will tear your's off." The Lorian put the cup down and released his laughter in the kitchen.
"I s-swear," He continued laughing as Ash glared at him. "I n-never thought I'd see the day w-where one of your friends would-" He was laughing too much.
"Shut up," She rolled her eyes. "Why don't you take her offer, eh?"
"Nah, I'm a guy. It's my job to look either handsome or ugly." He smiled. "And I think you could use one badly." The next minute, Ash was chasing Nico all over the house, over the couch, past the stairs and backyard. I can't even tell how many times they ran around the island counter in the kitchen.
It ended eventually, with Roland smacking the door on Ash's face when the commotion got too loud. Nico stopped and ran back to check if she was fine. "What the heck is going on here?" Roland glared at Nico as he spoke.
The winged boy ignored him, and continued to see if Ash was conscious or not. "They were having fun, you Xuejdok. You smacked Ash's face and could have smacked Nico's too." Zane explained.
Roland's eyes widened, before snapping them to Nico once more. "What did you do?" Skai tilted his head in confusion. You're joking, I thought.
Nico got up and glared at the boy. "Excuse me?!" He spread his arms. "What did I do?!"
Roland shoved him. "You must have said or done something that caused her to get hurt!"
"I was simply trying to lighten the mood around here. You smacked her with the door!"
"That wouldn't have happened if you left her alone!"
"Why should it matter to you?! It's not like you'd care if I wasn't a part of this mess!"
"So you admit this is your fault!"
"No, I admit I started it, but I didn't hurt her. That was you!"
A scalpel flew from the room Roland exited, barely hitting either of them. "Will you both shut up?"
Vanitas slowly walked out with bandages covering his neck. "If you want to settle this, do it outside."
"Vanitas-" Roland began before shutting up when he saw the Blonde's angry face. Nico huffed and made his way to the backyard, with the other blonde- haired boy following him.
"This is bad . . ." Skai mumbled.
"How come?" I asked, confused once more.
"You understand how Roland and Nico are both princes, right?" My twin looked around in awe at the space of the yard and chose to sit near the door. "Well, when two people of royalty fight, it's considered a battle for honor. Especially when it's between two people of the same rank."
"Oh, so whoever loses will lose their honor? Like Zuko?" I glanced at him and sat beside Skai.
"What-? No, I don't think that's what happens, but it means that this rivalry they have will only grow worse, and possibly reveal both of their dirtiest secrets. And when it gets to that, well- we just need to make sure they don't go that far." He watched as the two prepared to fight.
Everyone was watching them, everyone but Eli; he ran to the nearby pool and laughed. "Water! Finally!"
"Oh brother, be careful! We don't need you exposing us." Zane sighed and ran after him.
"How will he expose us?" Mune sat at the edge of the pool and stared at the water, flinching a bit when he felt water splash on him when Eli jumped. "He doesn't show any features that make him an alien, other than his ability to manipulate water."
"I'm a Eyvicbon, meaning I can't really change into anything but a 'merman' when I'm underwater." The heterochromatic eyed boy stuck his head out of the water and smiled at the blonde, shifting his legs into a bright orange copper tail. I was amazed and stared at the tail in awe, before groaning at the sound of Lina's squeal.
"Oh my gosh! A real, live, mermaid!" She gasped and immediately bent down to touch the other's tail, like a little kid seeing something shiny in the dirt. The "mermaid", on the other hand, raised an eyebrow and kept his tail away from her, uncomfortable with her actions.
As they were at it, Nico and Roland had begun fighting, and I have to say, the backyard was the worst place to be at that moment. At least, for those who were trying not to get hit by lightning while watching someone move really quickly- or were we moving really slow? I couldn't tell-
"Oni! Get out of the way!" Vanitas yelled at me as another bolt of lightning came in my direction. He grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side, before dragging me to the others, safe from the fight. "Why is it you're never paying attention to your surroundings? You're gonna get yourself killed!"
I scoffed and watched the fight again. I suppose it was clear Nico had the upper hand, since he managed to figure out Roland's pattern, and he kept flying really high out of the other's reach. Not to mention, his lightning ability was really strong, when it hit the ground it still managed to jump up and attack his opponent.
A splash could be heard behind me and the sound of an exaggerated gasp. I turned and burst into laughter when I saw Lina drenched in water and Eli glaring at her, his tail swaying side to side as if to warn her. "Now will you go away? I swear you're the most annoying person I've met." He said and glanced back at the fight.
Sholto glanced at me and pointed his chin at the door. "You wanna leave right now? There's not much you can do here, even sitting here is pointless." I thought about it before nodding and getting up, following my pet out of the backyard and out of the house.
