Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Oni Tomodachi

When I woke up, everything was pitch black. That's strange, I can usually see my surroundings. Was I in a really dark room-? I shivered and leaned on something rough. What kind of wall was this? Where am I? "Hayori, what are you doing out here?" A voice spoke behind me. Wait, I'm outside? Then why can't I-

"You know you get sick easily, you're not even wearing anything warm!" I felt something thick and warm placed on my shoulders. I smiled and turned in the direction of the voice. What was going on? Who the hell am I looking at? Who the hell am I?!

"Nico, why is it when I'm dealing with a minor crisis you're always there to help me?" I chuckled. I was a girl? Okay, not that bad, but who? Crimson? Wait she mentioned Nico does that mean- "I can handle myself fine. I'm not a child anymore." Can I even speak my mind here?

Nico sighed and patted my head. "Regardless, you're my sister," His voice got quieter. "I can't lose you too. You worry me enough with the fact you're blind." Huh, I never knew that Nico could act so gentle- wait a second, I'm blind?! I guess that makes sense . . .

I heard the silver-haired boy sigh and grab my shoulders. "Hayori, listen. There's something wrong with-" He began.

Before I could find out, I felt something heavy fall on my stomach, snapping me awake. I groaned and looked down to see a main coon staring back at me with it's bright blue eyes. I glanced out the window beside me, it was still dark. When and how did this cat get here? I looked at the clock behind me and groaned again, 2:30 in the morning. Was it just my bad luck or was America really the worst place to be?

The sound of faint pattering of rain kept me awake as I slowly sat up and placed the large feline on my lap. What kind of vision was that? I had never actually met Nico's sister, nor did I think he had one, so how did I see that? Or- well, feel it. Whatever happened, it was strange.

I flinched when I saw a flash of lightning illuminate my room, revealing Saeva standing beside my door. He glanced at the cat and sipped whatever he was drinking while thunder roared in the distance. "Seems Asta took a liking to you." He mumbled.

"What are you doing in my room-?!" At this point I might as well call him a creep and leave. Skai might get worried about where I am.

"My kitten ran out of my room suddenly so I was curious as to where it was going," He took a long sip, still keeping his eyes on the cat. "And this is my home, so this is my room too, so . . . yeah. I can barge in whenever I want."

"Even if I was buck- naked?"

"You couldn't, it's too cold to try. Besides, I doubt you'd have much to show anyways." He glanced at me and walked away, chuckling.

"Oi!"

"It's late, get some rest." He yelled.

"It's 2 in the damn morning, ya crackhead!"

"Then make yourself a cup of coffee, I don't mind," He replied. "And quit yelling, you'll wake everyone up."

I sighed and got off the bed after Asta jumped off my lap and after it's owner. Maybe a cup wouldn't be too bad. After quickly skimming through the closet and grabbing a random hoodie, I quickly made my way to the kitchen and began my search for cups and coffee mix. I could sense Saeva in the living room, and wasn't surprised to see him in front of the kitchen, coming back for a refill I guess.

He glanced at the coffee machine at work and sighed quietly, before sitting down on the couch and watched the rain smack against the window. "I didn't think you'd actually take on my offer," He mumbled. "Then again, I wasn't expecting you to be here either."

I raised an eyebrow and frowned. "If you're trying to act wise, you're failing. Terribly." The machine beeped and I took my cup. "By the way, why are you awake?"

I sipped my coffee- hold on. This was coffee? God it tasted so heavenly. I didn't think something like this would ever exist. The rich have it really well, I'm jealous. Then again, the rich always get the best out of everything-

The white-haired boy zoomed past me and started pouring a cup for himself. "I could ask you the same thing, really. I'm an insomniac so I could care less about sleep. But I do recall you all cuddled up on the guest bed a few minutes ago."

"Now you definitely sound like a creep." I took a few steps away from him.

"Shut it," He glared at me, before looking back at the machine. "I only went to ask if you wanted dinner but you were asleep. Nothing else, you weirdo."

I rolled my eyes and went back to drinking my heavenly drink. Man, I wish I could get this at every cafe.

"Now, if you're done with your questions, here's mine." Saeva sat down on one of the bar stools and stared at me. "Why were you there in the alleyway in the first place?"

"And why should I tell you?"

"Because if I remember correctly, you were supposed to be with Vanitas and your friends if I ever saw you. But you were all alone. So tell me." He sipped quietly and raised an eyebrow interested.

He knew Vanitas? How many people knew that blonde boy? And my friends? Now that was something he couldn't have known, unless . . . - "Have you been talking to Kettō, my mom?"

"Took you long enough to realize. Yes, I have been, and they told me to take you and your friends back to Romania if I ever came across you. So, you gonna tell me what happened?"

I sighed and hesitantly sat beside him. It didn't take long for me to explain, but the thought of what happened afterwards made me uncomfortable for some reason.

"So . . . you're telling me that you have no idea what's happened to the others, nor do you know where they could be now?" I nodded. "Well isn't that wonderful." Saeva whispered, rubbing his temples.

Suddenly he got up and left the kitchen without a word. Confused and a little curious, I followed him until he reached his room. "Wait here." He said and entered the room, leaving me only more confused. What could he possibly be doing in there?

It didn't take long for him to come out again and walk away from me to the entrance. "Come along, we don't have long."

"Ah- hey wait a minute!" I yelled and ran after him. "Where are we even going?!"

"Isn't it obvious?" He didn't look back and started walking faster out of the condo. "We need to be able to get Yuuto's attention, and he wants you."

"And?! What about it?!"

"Simple-" He stopped and turned around, making me flinch. "We're going to use you as bait."

". . . What now?!"
