I was awaken by the rays of the sun shining through the window. I opened my eyes and I stared at Drew who is sleeping quietly in my bed. I wondered where my mom had been the whole night. I grab my phone and decided to call her.
"Hey mom. Where are you?" I asked.
"Hey sweetie. I'm still at my friend's house." She responded.
"You're not seeing someone, are you?" I tease. I don't want to mess up with her personal life but I am her daughter and I have the right to know.
"Oh sweetie." She laugh in a sweet way.
"Well just be home soon, okay?" I said. My voice sounds very concern.
"Yeah I will." She responded. I hung up the phone and I was surprised to see Drew sitting on the bed with his legs crossed. He was looking at me the whole time.
"Oh you're awake. I hope you had a nice sleep." I spoke.
"Yeah I think I had. Goodmorning, my lady." He gave me a sweet smile.
"It doesn't mean that I have let you sleep into my room, we're already friends. What you did yesterday was really wrong Drew." I remind him.
"Why does it have to be such a big deal to you?" He widened his eyes.
"Cause'.. Because you used me Drew. That's why!" I screamed.
"I.. I didn't used you." He yelled back.
I went directly to the balcony to get some fresh air. I have so many things in mind that I want to say to him but I'm just too weak to respond. I'm tired of arguing with him. I thought he was leaving but to my surprise, I hear his footsteps following my direction.
"What do you want?" I blurted.
"Hey look. I'm sorry Emma. It's not really what you're thinking." He responded.
"Then what should I be thinking Drew? That you didn't saw Andrea and you were just holding my hand? For what? I know you saw her from afar. That's why you were holding my hand. To show her that you have already moved on." I shouted.
"Yeah I know. I know I messed up big time Emma but I didn't mean anything for that to happen." He replied. His eyes were locked on mine.
"I saw the way she looked into our hands Drew. She thought that you and I.. That you and I were together." I uttered. My voice is shaky. I don't want to cry anymore. He doesn't deserve my tears.
"I'm sorry." He bowed his head.
"I think you should go Drew." I said.
"But.." He responded.
"Please." I pleaded.
I watch him walk towards the door. He opened the door and his eyes widened as he saw my mom standing outside the door. My mom look really confused.
"Emma?" Her eyes were locked on mine.
My mom looked at me with confusion in her eyes.
"Emma. I think you owe me an explanation." She muttered.
"Oh. Well about what happened earlier. Drew was drunk last night and I.." I can't think well. If I'll admit that he came here to say sorry, for sure she would ask me about it and obviously I don't want that to happen. "Well actually Alex and Drew are good friends. Drew was really intoxicated and Alex came here for help." I lied.
"So nothing happened?" She raised both of her eyebrows.
"Ofcourse no. What the heck mom." I screamed.
"Okay. I was just worried." She gave me a sweet smile. I just nod in reply. "So how was your day with Alex?" She tease.
"I was with Drew mom." I blurted.
"Oh." She looked surprised.
"Well we didn't actually found any apartment yesterday.." I paused for a while. I know she'll ask me why so I need to find a better excuse. "Because my stomach ache and I wanted to get some rest so he drove me back here." I lied again.
"So are you going back there today?" She asked.
"Yeah I think so." I shrug.
"I forgot to tell you that I'm going back to Brooklyn tomorrow morning." She uttered. She can tell that I'm frowning. She came closer to me and hugged me tight. "You're a strong woman Emma. I don't want to leave but I have to. I know you'll do good here. Just believe in yourself." She placed her warms hands on my cheeks, sliding her thumb to wiped the tears in my eyes.
"Thank you mom." I smiled.
"Now hurry up and go get dressed. I'm going to help you find your apartment. I'll wait for you downstairs" She beamed.
Minutes later, I closed the door and went outside. Just when I was about to enter the elevator my eyes were shock to see James standing patiently inside.
