Janice was on her bed, scowling through a dating site because she was already done with her chores and she didn't have anywhere to go to. It was already morning and she wasn't allowed to got out anyway. She had built her profile page on the dating site days ago but hadn't bothered to try opening the site until today.
The thought of Mat and Nirvana at the party days back filled her mind. Yes she was jealous of what they had and yes she wanted Mat but what if Mat could never become hers?.
Was she grasping at straws by allowing her jealousy to rob her of a chance to find love?
Was she willing to let go of a chance to find something like theirs just because she was obsessed with everything her friend had?. She had always thought Shayda had everything easy. Even with the death of their parents, she had two other sisters who had looked out for her and even her Janice who had been there for her until later on when she had started to seduce Asher.
Even here, she had been annoyed about the fact that Shayda had gotten a unique name, Nirvana while she had only been given a name that she shared with a dozen other women, a very common name. A name that was only added to her original name, nothing different except for a name of spite and a life of hiding while Shayda had it all again, even in this life as well.
But wouldn't it be better to at least try to find some true happiness even if it was a tiny little bit?.
Even as a Shanti, she was entitled to rebuild some aspects of her life and perhaps she could start by finding someone who would support her and help her gain merit so that she can live a good life in the afterlife.
With that thought in mind, she continued to scroll. She viewed profile pictures, got slightly disgusted by some names and couldn't help but comment on some profiles.
And then she found herself staring at the Matching button.
Janice took a deep breath and finally tapped on it.
Her heart was literally in her throat and her mouth had already began to salivate due to fear as she saw a spinning wheel on the site begin to turn. She kept gulping every second until she felt that her breath was coming in gasps.
What was she scared about anyway?, she asked herself. It wasn't like she was being forced to do this. This was her choice and she could even decide to bail out at any time.
The spinning wheel on the site finally stopped and she realised that everything was dark. Wait, yeah she forgot that she had involuntarily closed her eyes. She took a deep breath and opened them. A sigh of relief left her lips because she had thought that she wouldn't find a match or worse get matched to someone with a strange name.
But the message on her screen made her smile.
Miss Pretty-Nirvy, you've got matched to Mr Smart-Mat and you have the opportunity to spend a wonderful date night with him tomorrow at 8pm at the Glitz Restaurant. Have fun and good luck in finding love!.
Janice was suddenly excited when she saw the name Mat. Could it be the Mat that she thought it was?. All thoughts flew right out of her mind as she smiled crazily on her bed.
Meanwhile someone else, Jake was smiling at the person he had been matched to. His best friend Calsifer had pestered and finally managed to convinced him to try a dating site called TruHalf and he was actually glad that he had listened to his friend for the first time in forever.
He smiled at the name excitedly.

Next day, 8pm.
Janice was dressed in a beautiful black dress she had borrowed from Nirvana, she didn't need to tell her that she was going on a date with her boyfriend Mat.
She smiled at that, she had done that so many times, borrowed dresses to go out with Asher back in their previous lives. And Nirvana hadn't changed one bit, she was still a classless fool who trusted everyone.
What an idiot.
As she sat the Glitz Restaurant, she wondered what would happen once Mat arrived. Tge look of surprise on his face would be satisfactory to watch.
She smiled.
Meanwhile, Jake was making his way into the Glitz Restaurant to meet his date, whome he suspected would be Nirvana. The username was a good reason for his assumption. He was showed to his table and as he approached he saw a lady already sitting there. Alrhough he couldn't make out her face yet due to the distance, he got all excited once again as he neared the table.
He increased his strides and just as he hot bear enough to see her face, she picked up tge menu and began to look through. The menu was big enough to cover the lower half of her face and Jake felt an urge to quickly get to the table. He quickened his pace even more.
A minute later, Jake stopped right in front of the table and gently pulled out a chair.
"I'm so sorry for being late", he said to the day behind the menu with the biggest smile he had prepared yesterday.
He wanted everything to go right tonight.
The lady whispered a small "it's fine, you're not that late" and slowly began to lower the menu so she could see her date's face and his reaction when he found out that it was her.
The look of shock that registered on both of their faces was one for the TV screens, it was so dramatic that it couldn't be achieved by professional actors.
The exciting moment turned extremely awkward as the two stared at each other in disbelief. They both found their ability to speak again.
"You?", they both asked at the same time, causing the other people on the tables near theirs to turn and stare at them in awkwardness.
