Running into the second floor of the clans house he was ready to pick up a mission, the clan house is usually very quiet during the morning where only a few people are up and about and to add insult to injury 1/4 is still in New Drifbedd, the orcs are gone but there still needed to be some people there. The captain and Aron are home but there has been no sight of Aron at all, and Kajus has been dodging the captain as much as he could, he is genuinely creeped out of the captain thinking that the less I see him the less problems there will be.
Going to the mission board he looked at the "knight" section of the board all proudly like, ' hmm maybe hunting a creature or killing some runaway orcs will do me fine'
There where only 3 parchments papers nailed onto the knight board the first was a transport mission where one would have to help a rich young noble to their destination, ' probably not this one I am sick of being away from home'
The second one had a picture and the mission was a hunter mission where one would have to hunt a creature, this creature in question was a big bear, it looked big and scary it had a scar on its left side of the face ' you and me both buddy, but regardless of scar this doesn't look to bad'
The third one was a direct mission from the captain where one would have to gather some herbs past the borders of the human empire. ' Don't really want anything to do with the captain so I guess it's the hunting mission, but the transport mission does sound like it would pay a lot' Kajus pondered his options after 10 minutes of thinking he picked the hunting mission.
He ripped the parchment off the wall and went to the receptionist Lionette.
"hello Kajus, here to pick up a new mission" Lionette smiled
"mhm"
She looked at the paper and exclaimed "Are you a knight rank now?"
"Yes," Kajus said proudly.
"That's great! After Geoff passed away we only had 4 knights remaining and now we are 5!" she happily said.
'only 5? I thought being a knight was a common thing, I guess not' Kajus thought.
"Do you need help with this mission? it will reduce the amount you receive but extra help never hurt anybody" Lionette carefully said.
"by the way how much am I getting paid for this?"
"Knight missions give a lot and this one" she paused and began rummaging through some papers she had neatly stacked on her desk.
"1 gold per bear killed!"
"per bear killed? I thought it was just one?"
"no there is a family of bears about 5-7 of them now not counting the babies and it's the king himself who has put this mission out as to make our woods less frightening, there has been multiple trade caravans who has fallen due to these bears"
'this seems a little harder than I thought'
"can I ask some clan members for help? and if I ask a knight will that drastically impact how much money I get?"
"we can't order knights around here, only the captain can so you will have to ask them yourself but I can put up a notice asking for help on the normal board!"
"please do that, I only need 2 people!"
"alright I will call for you when I have 2 people, by the way how much are you willing to pay these 2 people for their help?"
'damn I wonder how much is reasonable and how much is to little' Kajus pondered
After 10 second had passed Lionette probably realised what Kajus thought " 5 silver should be a good amount"
"5 silver it is then" Kajus said before walking away.

'Big scary bears huh, something should probably exist about them in the beastiary'
Scrolling through the bestiary he found several kinds of bears the closest one he could find to his target was called a "mutant bear" they looked like they were the same size and the colour of the fur seemed to align.
*mutant bear - strong points - their claws are sharp and deadly can tear trough armour - their strength is a the peak of the animal kingdom and can easily suppress you - their teeth are sharp and big like daggers and will sever a human's arm as easily as one squashes a fly - the are slow but can reach high speeds trough momentum and sprint faster than most humans.
Weak points - Their limbs are taller than most bears and also thinner making them a little speedier but also a lot more vulnerable, striking their legs hard and fast will make the bear much less frightening - their eyes are soft as jelly and they rely mostly on vision when fighting foes - their intelligence is lacking so traps are a viable option - the do damage short range and doesn't have any long range attacks so a bow is a viable option if you can aim for the legs or eyes otherwise a arrow won't pierce their hide.
danger level 4/10 - recommended to strike from a large distance. recommended to strike with a large group. recommended to be of the knight rank. recommended to use traps.
'These are some detailed notes, kudos to whoever wrote this stuff' Kajus thought.
'I wanted to ask Grinda but I don't think she will be of any use, and it might be dangerous but she could maybe strike the eyes or work as a distraction. Possibly I can just strike them from the distance with a bow but I can't count on my aim, If I accidentally miss and I get 7 bears running after me everyone except me is able to get out I don't want to endanger her'
'I don't know when i started to care for her.... I should ask her'
