Making his way down the empty hallways he made his way to Grinda's door, he knocked on the door, no answer. He knocked even harder until he heard some sound from the inside of the room, "YEaH Calm DOWN!" she screamed in a way that gave away that she was clearly sleeping until now.
'.....'
Kajus frowned as he stood outside the door for one minute "hurry up I don't get all day!"
"oh it's you, why haven't you said anything for a whole minute?! and what do you want, is it urgent?"
"ah sorry, no it's not urgent I am going on a mission and was wondering if you wanted to tag along" Kajus said still looking at a closed door.
"yeah sure, well I don't know, what mission is it?"
"Just open the door and I can give you the details"
"Yeah 1 sec don't rush me!"
After 5 more minutes of waiting the door finally opened, hair tidy, clothes clean and face sparkling it was Grinda, Kajus usually doesn't see her in any way more than a clan member and a close friend but there has been many thoughts about her recently and it has flustered Kajus.
"you look pretty" Kajus hesitantly said
"hm? thank you" Grinda responded meekly
After Kajus stared at her for 5 seconds she blushed "What is this mission you talked about ?"
"mm sorry yeah I got a mission" Kajus was a little dazed but quickly sobered his mind
"I am of the knight rank now and I have picked up a hunting mission and I was wondering if you want to tag along, you will get paid of course but I can't guarantee your life, it seems pretty dangerous"
"you are a knight rank?" she said surprised "Yeah ill join you, a hunting mission seems fun I guess"
"Yeah just this morning I became a knight, I asked Lionette to hire 2 helpers as well. I'll notice you when the mission is a go it will probably be tomorrow morning!"
"yeah sure"
The day went by quickly and Kajus continued to practice with the sword and testing his limits of his new body. ' I still feel fatigue and my muscle are aching after practicing all day, I guess I
was expecting more I am basically just a stronger than average human, but my arm right arm is incredibly strong I think I can protect myself and my party tomorrow, I think I want a big shield but even tougher and bigger than Arons since my arm is so strong.' Kajus pondered.
The morning sun rose and Kajus quickly got out of bed, he warmed up his body doing light exercises and afterwards stretched so he could be at his peak on his hunting mission.
'Alright first thing first let's check with Lionette and then get a new shield!'
He walked down from the dorm rooms and met with the receptionist, only 2 people had signed and were willing to help, one of them is a fresh new recruit and another is a clan veteran.
'They are probably asleep I guess I'll meet up with them at noon'
Kajus walked the street browsing different shields but he didn't find anything he wanted so he quickly made his mind up by going to Igor's place, he was a loyal customer afterall.
Kajus walked into the store only to find that annoying sale's man again, Kajus ignored him and called out loudly "50 GOLD". 5 seconds later he heard a laugh and then a silhouette of a big man.
Kajus smiled " Hello again Igor, I am looking for a shield I want it large, heavy and durable!"
Igor laughed and and waved his hand to follow him to his backroom "then come, son of Olaf"
Walking with him to his backroom was a sight to see, it was very messy but it was incredibly large, it was like a warehouse. "didn't know your store was this big"
"A big man needs a big workshop, what can I say?" Igor laughed.
They walked for 20 seconds until Igor stopped and opened a large chest, the chest looked sparkling clean but still old and it was the size of a small shed.
"In this chest I've places stuff I've never thought I would sell and in this chest is and old relic found on a battlefield, the shield looked old and brittle but it caught my eye so I bought it, when i returned it from the capital I polished it and had it enchanted but a shield this large is hard to sell." Igor said.
Pulling the shield out of the chest Kajus finally saw it, it was the size of a tall man both in length and width but it was very thin, the large round shield could cover his entire party Kajus thought.
Igor laughed " It has a special enchantment on it that cost me 30 gold to enchant, since I already tried the shields endurance myself and was unable to break it I didn't think i needed any protection enchantments so I enchanted it with a "shrink" enchantment, it's incredibly rare to have this enchantment even in the capital, but I was lucky to have found this wandering enchanter that blessed me with this enchantment"
Kajus had his mouth open but it wasn't genuine shock since he doesn't know the value of the "shrink enchantment" but he was still impressed since this would fit his repertoire really well.
"how much?"
"50 gold"
Kajus hurriedly gave him the 50 gold and received the shield
"So how do I make it shrink?"
"use your flow!" Igor said
Kajus didn't really know how to use flow he just concentrated and hoped for the best, it worked with the needle gadget but when he tried it on his shield he couldn't make it shrink
Igor frowned but he quickly turned that frown upside down and started laughing.
"close your eyes and try to feel this "flow" in your heart after you found it you should be able to pinch it in a lack of better words, after you pinched it try to circulate it towards the hand that has the shield you are holding." Igor explained.
Kajus felt joyous that he finally got an explanation, he only heard about what you can do with magic and theory but never how to practice it so Igor's words really felt wondrous.
Kajus concentrated and after about one minute he felt the flow, he tried to seize the flow but it was fickle like water but he kept trying, after 10 minutes he finally got the grasp of it and started to send his flow to his right arm, when the flow sensation hit his right arm it started to feel overpowering like when one is stuck in a hot box for 8 hours but suddenly walked outside for some fresh air, it was like a dam that burst. The flow started to build up really fast and Kajus lost control of it he started to feel fear not knowing what went wrong so in a panic he guided the flow from his upper right arm towards his hand and then suddenly all the energy disappeared and the shield made a noise.
