The hospital where Yeon Ah's father was admitted wasn't that far from her workplace. It was just a thirty-minute drive by car. So, within thirty minutes, they arrived at the hospital and ran towards the emergency ward. Seeing her mother standing by the door who was looking very pale and haggard made her heart ache.
'This wasn't how I left my parents... Why are they like this now?' She tapped on her beating chest.
"Mom!!!" Yeon Ah quickly ran and hugged her mother. Taking a close look at her, she touched her cheek which was slightly cold and pushed her short hair behind her ear. "Are you alright, Mom? How is Dad now? What did the doctors say?"
Feeling a warm and familiar hug, Yeon Ah's mother hugged her and cried.
"Your Dad needs to be operated..."
"Operated? That is fine then... Why do we have to wait? I will pay the mon..." As Yeon Ah was speaking, her mother interrupted her.
"The cost for operation is thirty-five thousand dollars and including the other expenses it would approximately come to fifty thousand dollars."
"Fifty thousand dollars???"
Her mother sat down on the chair and spoke in a low voice "Even if we were to sell our house, it would just be the half amount... from where shall we bring the other half amount?"
Yeon Ah again tapped her chest and sat beside her mother. She patted her and assured her "You don't have to worry. I will arrange the money. No need to sell the house, too." She kissed her mother's forehead and stood up.
"Don't worry. Dad will be fine. I just need a few days' time that is all."
As she turned around to walk away, her mother held her wrist and she looked back at her mother.
With a smile on her face, her mother said "Don't overwork yourself. I know we need this money but take care of yourself. I love you, dear!" Hearing her mother's words, a big smile came on her face and she walked out of the emergency ward.
"How is your Dad? What did the doctors say?"
Ji Sang who had been waiting for Yeon Ah to come out asked when he saw her stepping out of the ward. Yeon Ah had thought that Ji Sang had left but she was surprised to see him here.
"You didn't leave?"
"Of course not!" Ji Sang gave a smile and held her hand. He rubbed her hand and said "In this time, I too, must be there by your side." He lifted her hand and kissed it.
Yeon Ah retracted her hand from his hold and shared with him about the cost for the operation. She knew he was now successful so, if she told him then he surely was going to help. And a smile came upon her lips when Ji Sang agreed to lend her the money but there was a condition.
"Condition?" She asked.
"Mhmm!!!" Ji Sang glanced here and there and said "Let's talk outside." The two of them came out of the hospital and sat in the car.
"So, what condition you have?" Yeon Ah was already getting impatient. Her father's life was on the line and she really didn't wanted to waste any single minute, dilly dallying.
Ji Sang smiled and thought about his condition. Well, he knew that he was risking over this but he didn't wanted to let go of any chances which were being thrown at his way. He didn't wanted to regret wasting this chance which had come to him unknowingly.
Although it just felt like he was taking advantage of her for his needs but it really wasn't this what he wanted to do.
A chance was in his favor and he wanted to bet his everything to have this chance.
The chance of having her as a girlfriend.
Well, he wasn't going to force her to do things what couples did... All he just wanted was her by his side and if she wasn't willing, he just wanted her to give it a try... That was all!!!
"I want you to be my girlfriend."
And just as he opened his mouth to elaborate, a hard slap was felt on his cheek and Ji Sang looked at Yeon Ah who had just slapped him.
"I didn't know that you were just taking advantage of me in this situation." She scoffed. "How can I actually forget that you are a f*cking playboy?" She maniacally laughed and opened the door of the car.
"F*CK YOU, JI SANG!" She stepped out of the car and banged the door by kicking with her leg.
Ji Sang chuckled at her behavior and rubbed the cheek which she had slapped. He rolled down his window and spoke loud enough for his voice to reach her ears "IN CASE YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND, I SHALL BE WAITING FOR YOU HERE."
Hearing his words, Yeon Ah raised her hand and showed her middle finger to him. "F*cking asshole. How can he just exchange emotions like a f*cking deal?"
She cursed and stomped her way to the hospital.
While on her way, she checked at the balance which was in her card. It was ten thousand dollars. Thanks to her having only bread and cheese every single day, she was able to save this much. Even if she had ten thousand dollars, she needed more forty thousand dollars. She wondered from where she could get them and soon started calling her friends asking for some money....
Few of her friends were very favorable and they quickly sent her some money. And now, her balance had risen up to twenty thousand dollars.
She sighed as she needed more thirty thousand....
She contacted her owner of the café. She was a very kind and reliable person and Yeon Ah had always shared many things with this owner of hers. So, now after talking with her café owner and another owner from her another part-time job, she was able to accumulate a total of thirty-five thousand dollars.
A smile came on her face when she realized that this much money was enough for the operation fee. So, she quickly rushed to her mother and hugged her.
"We have thirty-five thousand dollars now... fifteen more and Dad will be all good."
After exclaiming to her mother, she quickly called that one person which maybe she should have called or stayed in contact because it wasn't his fault at all.
