Jason looked at his drink one more time with that confused look before setting it down on the table. When did my drink get hot? He wondered to himself. It wasn't the first time something odd like that had happened to him, and it had been happening more often, but it couldn't be him that was causing it.
"Wanna go to your place, and play some games?" Curtis asked as he leaned back in his chair.
"Nah," Jason scooted the glass away with the tips of his fingers, "My parents have been weird lately. Let's go to your place."
Curtis, and Jason left the drink stand together. They walked in silence for a long while.
"You're sure you're not going to die without me?" Curtis asked all of a sudden.
"Die," Jason seemed to mull over his answer a bit, "No. Get mauled?" Jason squinted his eyes a little as a sly smile threatened to cross his face, "Most definitely. I'll live. I'm not in the habit of dying."
"I'll be surprised if you're not missing pieces when I get back," Curtis chuckled.
"Me hell no," Jason elbowed his friend, "Broken bones are funner."
"Yeah," Curtis chuckled, "What bones haven't you broken?"
"My funny bone is fine," Jason winked as he ran up the cement walkway to the front door of his friends house.
It was a nice two story house. Not some massive thing, but plenty of space, and a yard. A well maintained yard was a rare sight around these part. Curtis's house fit as a closer to the beach higher end home. It had white walls with a dark blue roof, and softer lighter blue window frames.
The front door was also a soft blue in color. The house was designed to be friendly, and inviting. At least Jason thought it was designed to be that way. Jason pushed open the door slowly, and both boys tensed up with anticipation.
"I get top screen," Jason shouted right before running into the house.
