I cradle my hand to my chest, stating adoringly at the baby with big blue eyes with hints of caramel brown around the pupils. He's so tiny, staring at us with a blank look. The nurse said that he was too young to have a facial expression and that he might be looking blank for a while.
Bear Uriah Gage Freeman.
I know, it's a bunch of awkward yet dazzling names. You know who the parents are so there's nothing unnatural about the names. Ethan has been looking at his baby adoringly, since last night, up till this late afternoon. Mom and dad went home to get Brooke home food, mom's the cook and Kira wen to assist in packing for Uriah's clothes. That's what I'm calling him.
Austin went to get some snacks for me, Ethan and himself since the others went home to sleep. We've been here since last night. When mom and dad and Kira get back, then we go to rest, unless Ethan wants to get into a fight with mom, she may be a grandma now, but he was her child first, and the first child.
"He's so beautiful, he took both your eyes and hers." I say and he nods, smiling. "I know." He touches his cheek and plays with his tiny fingers.
"Can I hold him?" I ask shyly and he looks at me smiling, "Of course." He carefully puts Uriah in my arms, watching his baby boy. His eyes dart to his wife sleeping peacefully with a light snore, her hair in a mess, pooling around her head and shoulder. He places a kiss on her forehead and her face pulls into a frown, her lips pouting and I laugh softly.
The door opens and I look over my shoulder at Austin, he shuts the door and smiles when he sees me holding Uriah. He walks to Ethan and hands him the food, he smiles gratefully at Austin and stands up, stretching his arms. "I'll be outside, eating this delicious veggie burger since my life isn't controlled by me any longer and I have to live long for Bear over here." Ethan mutters and gives me a salut, kissing his baby's head and walking out.
"You look so natural." Austin comments, settling himself in the seat that was preoccupied by Ethan. "Well, what can I say, I'm a mother at heart." He chuckles and stares at Brooke, a smile on his face.
"I remember when my mom gave birth to Layla, Lord she was a pain in the ass when she was pregnant!" He grumbles and I smack him.
"No swearing in front of the baby." I hiss and he whines, rubbing his arm. "You have a hard smack, you know that?" He questions and I smirk.
"I'm glad that hurt you." I say and he raises a brow. "Okay..." he sounded unsure and that made me want to hit him even harder. Stupid Austin.
There's a knock on the door and then mom's head pops in. Hey smile widens when she sees Uriah awake. "How's our little Gage?" She coos in his face and touches his toes, his eyes never leave mine but his face flickers to his grandma for a second before coming back to me. Austin and mom start taking and then dad and Kira come in.
"Get away, I want to hold my nephew now." Kira smacks me and takes the baby from me. "Did you sanitize your hands?" Mom asks and Kira nods, not even looking away from Uriah. I glare at her and then hear Austin chuckling.
"Come on babe, don't want you biting off Kira's head, Gage wouldn't like that." He says and I glare at him.
"It's Uriah, and don't even talk to me, I'm mad at you, give me food." I growl out and he looks terrified for a second, approaching me carefully and leading us out of the room. I let out a sigh of exhaustion, grabbing the burger from Austin. I bite into the buns, moaning at the taste of meat.
Thank God that horrid October is over, I can return to being a cannibal. I look at Austin, watching as he eats his burger, his eyes watching with a funny expression on his face. He looks at me and frowns when he finds me watching him. "What? Is there something on my face?" He asks, touching his cheek.
"Yeah, a little here," I say, touching the edge of my lip, he goes to clean the nonexistent food on his lip and I smile. "Here, let me get it." I pull him down and take his lips between mine, using my tongue to run over his bottom lip. He forgets his food and holds my face, pulling me closer to deepen the kiss but I pull away, going back happily to my food.
"I think there's also a little something in your lips." He tries and I roll my eyes, laughing. "Nice try lover boy." I stand up, dusting my hands and grabbing the burger wrap, tossing it in the trash. I look around and see that Ethan is nowhere to be found.
"He's inside the room, come on, let's go get some sleep." He tugs my arm, walking us to the room door and poking his head in, telling Ethan that we're leaving. They do a bro shake and I roll my eyes, waiting impatiently for Austin.
"Let's go, I'm tired." I complain and he smiles, kissing my cheek.

I land on the soft bed, Austin next to me. He pulls me into his arms, kissing my forehead. I place my hands on his bare chest, loving the heat it brings to my cold fingers.
"What does this tattoo mean?" He asks and I look at the Latin writing on my skin. "Oh, it's something my grandmother used to say, 'We always look at the horizon, loving the beauty of it, but we never see the beauty around us' I just decided to get it tatted one day." I sigh, tracing his jawline. He looks into my eyes, his blue pools watching me. His eyes narrow and suddenly, I'm off the bed. I yell, wincing when I try moving.
"You pushed me off!" I accuse and he feigns surprise. He places his hand on his chest with a gasp. "I could never." He cries and looks at me with a smirk.
"You will pay for that, right after I figure out if I just broke my butt." I snarl, my index finger pointed sharply in accusation. He chuckles and lies on the bed, his arms spread out like a starfish. I stand up, cracking my back. I was about to get back in bed when I stop, suddenly feeling like something's wrong.
Oh no.
I rush to the bathroom and lock it, my eyes widening as I stare at myself in the mirror.
"Babe, what's wrong? Are you mad at me? I'm sorry." Austin begs, trying to open the door.
"Austin, go to my closet, you'll see a bunch of um... toiletries, get them for me please." I stutter, feeling myself getting soaked.
"You want the tissue papers?" He asks and I shake my head.
"No, the pads." I say and slap my forehead for being so blunt.
"Oh, you should have just said that, would you open the door now?" He asks and I open it a little, grabbing the pack of pads.
"Thanks." I mutter. Growing up with boys, you'd think I was comfortable telling them to get me pads, well if it was any of the guys, I wouldn't even have to ask but this is Austin, he may be my boyfriend but this is the first time he's around when I'm starting.
Sometimes, I want to curse mother nature, but I'm not willing to take the risk. Who knows who the next lightning strike might reach?

I tuck myself into Austin's body, wrapping my arms around his waist. He hums and presses a kiss to my forehead, smiling when I make a circle on his back with my nail. "Babe, I'm trying to get some sleep here, if you keep doing that, we both wouldn't have any sleep in hours." He says with a hidden tone and a smirk on his face that I just want to smack off. I turn a shade of red that hasn't been discovered yet and he peeks one eye open and chuckles at me.
"You're not supposed to say that, now shut your eyes and sleep." I complain and he rolls his eyes, pulling me closer to him. "You know what, we've already slept for four hours, and we also slept at the hospital, I think that's enough sleep for us, let's go somewhere." He taps my nose and stands up from the bed.
"No, I want to sleep!" I grumble and cover my head with the blanket, he starts laughing and throws the covers off me. I glare at him and sit up, hugging the pillow. I cross my legs, pouting my lips.
He walks up to me and quickly pecks my lips then drags me out of the bed. I whine and scowl at him. "Austin, I really don't want to go out, unless there's a taco and a burrito in the future then I'd go out." I say with a small smile and he nods, kissing my cheek.
I walk out of the room, going down to the kitchen. I see the fridge door ajar and I roll my eyes, going to shut it. "You ready?" I turn around, staring at Austin as he walks to me, looking as sexy as hell. I smile and nod, watching as he takes a seat on the stool. "I'll wait for you to go get dressed, now chop chop, we're gonna be late if you keep standing like the statue of liberty."
I roll my eyes and walk back up the stairs, changing out of my clothes. I let my hair down, grabbing my phone and walking back to meet Austin, who was busy pouting and having a quiet conversation with a spoon.
"Come on boy, a burrito is calling for me." I charge towards the door, grabbing the house keys and walking out, waiting for Austin to speed up his lazy butt.
"Did you just call me boy?" He asks, raising his brows in question. I nod, locking the door. "Do you think your parents will be worried about where we are?" He asks and I shrug.
"I am at my condo, and besides, I'm twenty one, I should be able to do things without them getting in the way." I huff.
"Yeah, try saying that to their faces." Austin snorts. I roll my eyes and smack his chest, he winces and rubs his pec, making me smile.
"You're really violent." He whines and I shrug, "I guess I could say that means you won't annoy me anymore?" I ask and he raises a brow.
"In your dreams sparkle face."

The car stops in front of the taco store that's not too far from the condo, Austin looks at me with a look and I roll my eyes. "We'll go on, four tacos for me and whatever you want, oh and you're paying, I didn't take any money with me." I say and he smiles.
"You're the only girl I've met that won't take a chance to pay, it's actually refreshing." He laughs and I raise a brow. "Oh really? As I have said so many times, I am unique and you better get used to that lover boy, now run before I decide to add you to the list of tacos, my stomach is having an epic battle and you can be the hero." I wave my hand dramatically at him and he smiles.
"I won't let you down, my love." He steps down from the car, chest out and a wallet in hand, ready to be the hero. I would sigh dreamily but I don't think the energy is enough.
I pull out my phone, texting Kira to know if Brooke is awake. I look up and see someone watching the car, almost like he could see me inside. I look back and see another person, looking at the car. I turn back to the first person and he seems like he's heading straight for the car but then he suddenly turns the other way. I look back but don't see the other person.
Suddenly there's something banging on the car's window and my eyes go wide as I jump back, hand on chest staring at the confused blue eyes.
Austin opens the car, the bag if tacos in hand. "Is something wrong?" He asks, looking around.
"No, nothing, it's fine, I just got into my head, I guess." I breathe, closing my eyes and listening to my heartbeat slowing.
That was creepy, and who the heck were those guys?
