Mia had the unmarried girls stay at my condo, which was closest to the house. Even herself, Mario had been calling her phone since last night and it's starting to get really annoying. May and June are still asleep in my room, Kira is in the room she shared with Mia and Mia has gone to help the guys with their costumes. She made it very clear that we shouldn't see each other until tonight at the grand party that we all know nothing about, well all of us except Mia. It seems like a plot to get rid of all of us.
It's just ten a.m and I can already see the kids in costumes running around, the decorations hanging everywhere in the streets, from house to house, the Halloween spirit is in the air.
I'm sat on the roof, a pencil and a drawing pad in my hands. My hands have been going over in light sketches, my mind blank. I don't even know what I'm sketching. Another kid squealing and laughing, running on the street has me smiling.
"Hey April!" I hear someone say and I turn around, looking at Kira. "What are you doing up here?" She asks, coming to sit next to me. She stares at the drawing and a smile comes up her face.
"I see you can't get your mind off a certain someone." She whispers and I roll my eyes before letting out a sigh. "What's wrong?" She asks in a serious voice.
"I don't know, I feel like I'm rushing things with him," I say. "What I'm trying to say is, we met in August. We got closer in September, it's October ending now and we've already been together more than three times."
Kira's eyes widen and I furrow my brows before smacking her, "Not like that you idiot, I mean we've kissed, a lot too. And I don't have that crawling feeling whenever he touches me. He sleeps better with me, he's seen me without a shirt, we've crossed so many levels and he still hasn't asked me to be his girlfriend. I don't know if it's right, it all feels right but I-" I pause and she sighs.
"That sounds complicated and only you and Austin have the answer to that. But if it feels right, then it's not too fast. That's how it was with me and Alistair. I can't remember how many times I felt it was all so wrong, I remember going through tough breakups because I didn't want to believe that our love was there, books make you believe that there has to be something that will try to stop two people from fully loving each other, and I'm not saying there won't be, I'm saying we expect tougher things in our relationships. You won't be given a fate you can't handle, and you won't be given a destiny you can't reach. Let him in, but guard your heart jealously, it might be calm now, but who knows the hurricane that's coming?" She pays my thigh and stands up, turning back and walking down into the condo.
My brows furrow as I ponder on what she said. She's right, if there was anything wrong in the world, Austin would be right, if there was a part of me missing, Austin would fit. I couldn't be more wrong about everything, Austin needs me, I need him. I need him so bad, he brings the deep feelings that I've never been able to show out. Austin is a closed off person, I've realized that. He has a problem with staying, but he did that, for me. He's shown me parts of him that many people haven't seen. It might not be all, I know it's a gradual process and I'm glad he's even doing it. He's shown me his past, he's confessed to me about how much he needs me and that's all I need. I guess the only thing I was looking for was assurance that I'm his. And he's mine.
I can't imagine myself without him anymore, he's become a huge part of my life, just like everyone else, he might not have done something great, like solve the mystery on why all our eyes are different, or how mom was able to have twins and then triplets, but it's the little things he's done, he's attached himself to me. I wouldn't be surprised if mom starts calling him love and dad starts calling him son.
I look down at the drawing and see those eyes that I can stare at for eternity, even without the color, I can still get lost in them. I close my eyes, breathing in and looking out to the kids. Mia should be here soon to get us to get our makeup done. I'm excited and also nervous, I don't know what the boys are wearing, and they definitely don't know what we're wearing.
I stand up, clutching the drawing pad to my chest as I walk down the stairs and into the attic. I walk down to the living room, Temi and Lola, June and May and Kira all watching TV, the door opens, Mia walks in with a look on her face.
"Alright girls, makeover time."

I step down from my car, narrowing my eyes at the building in front of me. "Where's the party at?" Temi asks as she comes down from Mia's car, looking to me.
"Oh, you'll see." Is all Mia says. She locks her car and I do the same, following her to the door. She pushes it open and I see just random people walking around. It doesn't look anything like what Mia described. She leads us down a flight of stairs, June already complaining under her breath about what a waste of time this is and May helping Macy and Brooke. She opens a door and then we're piling up in an elevator. She hits the last button and starts humming.
"Mia, I swear if this is just one of your tricks I'll turn into an actual zombie and eat your brains." Lola growls, her eyes narrowing at her which makes her look even zombier, if that's a word.
"Patience child." Mia chuckles and when the elevator bell rings, the doors slide open, our eyes are left hanging off their sockets.
It's not exactly like a college party or something, it's a more of a proper party, where there's music but everyone's not just jumping and humping. There's a dance floor and there's where people stand and talk, there's an all you can eat buffet and Brooke and Macy are already diving towards it, Temi not far behind.
"Wow." Lola gasps, taking in the sight. Mia smirks and walks to a corner. "I told you to be patient, young zombie." She laughs. Macy, Brooke and Temi come back, gushing about the food.
"Alright ladies," Mia claps, "Let's have some fun."
We disperse, I go straight for the bar, sliding into the stool. The bartender looks at me with a wicked smile. "What would my queen have this wicked night?"
I tap on the table with my clawed fingers, biting my lip. "I'll have The Witch's Heart."
"Very well." I turn around, looking at the girls laugh and talk about whatever, Mia looking mischievous.
"Here you go, My queen." I smile pleasantly at the bartender and stand up, taking my drink. I see someone approaching Macy and my eyes narrow.
I walk closer to them, my heart beating faster.
"You are my other half. Would you do me the honor and be my home, I will stand at your side, at your bottom, wherever you are, I am a leprechaun, you are a rainbow, I know there's no pot of gold here, but trust me, there's no other place I'd be." Adam says, staring Macy in the eye. She bites her lips and wraps her arms around his neck, pressing her lips to his. Mia flips out a camera and takes a quick shot, smiling like this was her plan all along.
Zombie Lola was looking bored, watching everyone with critical eyes. I walk up to her, nudging her with my elbow as I take a sip of my drink.
"You know, this party is really fun, but I'm taking responsibility for my zombie look and making it seem like I'm bored. I would say I'm resisting eating everyone's brains, but unfortunately, none of you here have one." She finishes and I gasp, slapping her arm.
"Would I be fortunate enough to be seen as someone who might have a brain worthy of your consumption?" A voice breathes out behind us and we turn around to see an arrogant smirk on a nerd face.
"Storm." Lola breathes.
"I am not the smartest out there, but I hope I'm smart enough to hold your attention, even if it's just for five minutes." She licks her lips, her zombie painted face taking the form of a small smile.
"I guess five minutes will be enough to do this." She pulls him to her and smash her lips against his. I shake my head and turn around, throwing back the rest of the drink. I walk to Adam and Macy, making a face when I hear her giggle. They start spit swapping again and I turn around, walking towards Brooke when some astronaut dude walks to her. He pulls of his helmet and my eyes widen at Ethan.
"The galaxy is full of so many things, stars, the planets, Earth," He says as he touches Brooke's stomach that was proudly displaying Earth. "No matter where I go to, I'll always come back to you." His was short and not that romantic, but for a pregnant woman, I bet that could move you to tears. Ethan smiles and pulls her to a corner, a knowing look in his eyes.
I'm beginning to sense a pattern here.
Next, Witch Fayette stands by the buffet, staring with a warm smile on her face as a boy wanderer wanders towards her. He circles her, resting his jaw in the crook of her neck. He grips her waist, sucking her lobe between his teeth.
"I see a mystical being. I'm here to take your heart but it seems like a dragon queen already had that." He looks at me and I smile, rolling my eyes and shaking my head. "But since there's no heart, I'd rather take your soul, for myself. A young hunter I might be, a mystical being you seem to be, a simple sentence is what will bring us closer. Be mine young witch." He growls in her ears and I roll my eyes.
Chase has always been dramatic when it came to things like this.
They both disappear into the crowd, leaving me, May, Kira, Temi, June and Mia.
"Well, that was interesting." Kira snorts.
"As interesting as this god?" A deep voice says and she whips around, staring at Alistair. "God of Chaos, very original Mia." She whispers to me and I chuckle, leaving them be. Kira always lived her private life, seems like something that would be impossible in a family like mine but it is.
"Goodness gracious, you are more stunning than everything I've ever seen in all my years." I hear a familiar voice and turn around, smiling and tugging at my lips with my teeth.
"Air Sprite, not the one I was looking for, a dragon king would suffice." I say and he smirks.
"As you see, I am no king, an Air Sprite is what I am. I know it isn't enough, it can't even start to be enough, but for now, only tonight, be mine." I look up like I'm thinking.
"I guess that could quench my thirst for someone tonight." I whisper and lean into him. He smiles. "That's all I need." And our lips meet in a soft battle. It's short, but it holds deep meaning, one that has my heart tugging, my skin tingling and my lips craving more.
"Your lips are like poison, draining the life out of me and taking it for yourself, but I can't help but fall to my knees for you over and over again, wanting you to take more from me, until I have no more to give." He breathes, his minty breath fanning my face.
We look at Mia who was smirking at us. Of course it was her plan all along, she is really smart when it comes to costume matching and couple making. Mia.
He stands behind me as we wait for the next person, May. Devin walks up to her, cute deer horns attached to his head. He looks like a fairy boy, just as May is a fairy girl. He looks into her eyes for a while before swooping in and kissing her. Devin is not a man of many words, and I'm sure he doesn't feel right talking to her in front of a large audience. They're alike in that way.
"Well, well, well, isn't it Juney-June." A voice says and June turns around, laughing and running to hug the girl standing there in a pumpkin outfit.
"What are you doing here?" June asks with surprise. "I had a little help from warrior girl, thought I'd come say hi to my highschool buddy." The girl says and I smile.
Tate July. She was the girl that left with June for modelling back in highschool, they must've lost contact after graduation. June winks at Mia and she just nods.
Mario walks up to her, not so subtly and hugs her from behind, making sure to whisper his words into her ears and I know why immediately after she turns beet red.
She rushes of, her face flaming and I laugh when I see his eyes twinkle. I go to him and lat his shoulder. "Good job Mario, you are fine with me for tonight." He nods and follows her.
Since that's everyone, but what about Temi. She's just sitting down on her phone at the bar, drinking a Sweet poison cocktail. Macy sits beside her on an actual chair, Adam got one for her. The bartender slides a glass of cotton candy shots to her and she smiles, cutting out of the cotton candy and and dipping it in the shot. She downs it and Adam gasps "Woah! Take it easy baby girl." He takes the glass from her and laughs when she starts whining.
"You trying to win my woman over man?" Adam asks the bartender and they do a bro shake before the bartender replies. "Bros before hos." Macy gasps and slaps the bartender. They start chit chatting and I relax into Austin, he rests his jaw on my head, humming under his breath.
The elevator opens and I turn my head. My eyes widen and I gasp when I see a familiar face walking towards us. "Zayan?" I narrow my eyes when he changes direction, his gaze locked on Temi. He's dressed like a man from a black and white movie, like Pride and Prejudice or Storm and Silence, if there was a movie. Temi is dressed like a lady from Storm and Silence and I see them matching.
Gasp! What does Mia know?
Temi hasn't noticed him, still sipping and sucking her teeth with an irritated look in her face. He stops in front of her, everybody starts watching them, confused looks on their faces. Mia has a hopeful look on her face, her fingers crossed and she looks like she's saying a silent prayer.
"I'm sorry if I'm late Milady, but the traffic in this modern days are something no man can explain." He says in a deep voice, his accent sounding very Arabian.
Temi looks up, her eyes widening and she gasps. "Zayan." Where does she know him from?
"Oh, she does speak, after how many years, darling you must be-" He's cut off when she pulls him down and seals his lips with hers, loosing her hands in his hair. He chuckles and pulls her up from the stool, his hands holding her waist.
Some girl walks up to them and before I can yell at her to stop, she ripped Zayan from Temi and slams her lips on his. Temi growls and snatches him back, punching the girl and kicking her.
"Wow, you really haven't changed Temilola. That was hot." He says and she rolls her eyes.
"She deserved it, now shut up and kiss me."
