Chapter 23 - Lord of drama, Ethan Freeman.

I rub my eyes and yawn, slowly getting up from the bed to stretch. I look around my room, the feeling in my face coming back to me. I stand up and grab my phone from the table, checking the time and I groan when I see that I slept for only two hours.

I walk out of my room, frowning when I hear nothing. The house is never really as quiet as this.

"Days like this, I wanna cry, I wanna cry, I wanna cry cry cry, days like this, I wanna cry, I wanna-"

"Kira, what are you singing?" I ask as I reach the bottom of he stairs, seeing her sitting with her back against the wall.

"Oh hey April, was wondering when you were gonna wake up, everyone left already, Lady Tsunade went out on a date with Pervy Sage, Naruto and Brooke went somewhere and refused to take me, Adam just up and left with Macy and Sasuke is having a sacred boy time with some of his friends. While I'm here, wallowing while you're watching me." She cries and I roll my eyes.

Kira can be really melodramatic sometimes, I guess it comes from being children to my parents and being the twin sister to the Lord of drama, Ethan Freeman.

"Alright you big baby, get something to wear, we're going out to see my friend." I say and she immediately brightens up. Her eyebrows start wiggling and she smirks at me.

"Is it the one I saw you with on Instagram?" She asks and I make a face. Oh, she's talking about Austin.

"Nope, we're going to see my other friend, who might see me as just a crazy girl who keeps talking him but I'm keeping my hopes high, my spirit bright and my stomach empty." Kira just makes a weirded out face at my speech but walks up the stairs to get changed. I walk to the fridge and grab a single celery stick.

"Alright, I'm done, can we go now?" Kira asks and I fling the celery stick at her head.

"Hey!" She yells as it falls to the floor. I just smirk and skip out of the kitchen, grabbing the house keys and my car keys. Kira follows me out and I lock the door, walking to the car.

"So, who are we meeting? And we gotta make a stop at Jerry's Tacos, I'm craving some." Kira says and sighs with a satisfied face when I start driving.

"Devin, I met him at the coffee shop down the road by my condo, he's not much of a talker though so mind how you get crazy around him." She smiles.

I park the car and she gets down, rushing to get our order. I pull out my phone and see a text from Lola.

I call her immediately when it read the text and she answers in a flash.

"Temi is going batshit crazy, the guy you've seen her hanging out for the past few months is a freak. He tried to go all possessive on her, and tried to force himself on her but cracked his head with a baseball bat and she's trying to kill everyone in her way. It's kind of funny but I think we're going to be back home earlier than we thought so she won't kill someone." She says and I laugh softly, closing my eyes.

Temi has never had a stable boyfriend, she's too crazy for them. It's either she gets bored of them too quickly or she does something they can't take, or they do something that makes her do something crazy, or she just decides to be in a mood.

"Yeah, have you heard from Storm? I've been trying to talk to him but he's not been answering his phone." I see Kira coming towards cat and I smile, seeing her nose twitching.

"Oh, that's because he's sulking. I told him to have a rethink of what he really wants. Food or Water, he's been ignoring me since then too." She laughs and I shake my head.

"And, I found out about the proposing thing and he got mad when I told him to hang on for at least another year." She says and my eyes nearly fall out.

"He wanted to propose to you?" I shriek and she hums. Kira opens the door, curiosity landed her facial features.

"Yeah, but I guess it was right of me to tell him to hang on, I mean, we didn't see each other for two years and he suddenly waves to propose, I mean, he can but I want to date him first." She says and I sigh, facepalming myself.

"Whatever helps you sleep Lola, I gotta go, Kira is looking at me weirdly and I can see she's already close to eating my taco, bye." I say and Kira looks up, smiling sheepishly.

I cut the call and grab my taco from her, giving her a dirty look. She pouts and bites into her taco, sighing heavily.

I roll my eyes and start driving, eating my food silently while listening to Dababy's Amazing Grace.

I smile at the waitress that eyes me like she knows who I'm here for. I mean, I've only been here once, so why does she look like she wants to serve my head as their special on the menu.

I don't bother to order and walk straight to the blondie that's sitting and sipping his drink, Kira follows behind me after she glares at the waitress. I know because I heard the waitress gasp and Kira has a killer glare. If your heart isn't strong, like mine, you'd definitely pass out when she glares at you. I know I have a few times.

I plop down on the chair and the blondie looks up at me and groans, rolling his eyes. He slumps back in his chair and closes his eyes before they shoot open again and he stares at Kira with wide eyes.

"There's two of you!" He gasps and people look at him but he doesn't look like he cares.

"I thought you said he wasn't much of a talker." Kira says and grabs a seat from the other table, sitting down with a smirk on her face. He stutters, and looks between the two of us before breathing in and out slowly. He takes a long sip of his drink while looking at us.

"Okay, I'm just going to act like you two are strangers who just happened to sit down next to me, and I'll quietly walk out." He says slowly and goes to stand up but I grab his arm and shove him back into his seat.

"Hey, violent much?" He asks and rubs his arm, pouting and looking at me.

"Are you sure you're Devin? The one I know is the one with no facial expression, blank tone and always drinking black coffee, totally hates talking and really hates me, yeah, have you seen him anywhere?" I ask and he rolls his eyes.

"Yeah, he was here a minute ago, told me I could borrow his body while he took mine." He says and I glare at him.

"And there's the sarcasm that has never been there, if Macy was here, she'd get a heart attack and die!" I shriek and he rolls his eyes before he starts slowly smirking.

"Oh no, don't even think about it. Now tell me, what put you in such a good mood?" I ask and he starts smiling slowly.

"I'm not supposed to tell you this but since I'm in such a good mood, my girlfriend has ruined some guys chances of having children. I'm so proud, I wish I could watch how she did it, and she's absolutely livid right now, she's going on rampage. I heard she'll be back in about two weeks, so you'll meet her." He says, all giddy with a bright smile on his face.

"Whatever lover boy, I want a muffin, now be a good boy and go order ten for me, I have an empty stomach and I'm ready to fill it." I say and shoo him away with my hand.

Kira looks at me amusedly and shakes her head, calling out for him to get the blueberry ones for her.

My phone rings and I pick it up, groaning when I see it's from someone I really don't want to talk to. I mute it and watch as Devin sits back in his seat.

Kira and him start chatting while I wait impatiently for the stupid waitress to come give me my muffins.

They finally call Devin's name and I glare at him before smiling when I realize that it's our muffins.

He takes them and gives them to me when he sees the glare on my face for him hesitating. Kira gladly accepts hers and starts munching on it.

I would down mine, chipping into the conversation sometimes... okay maybe a lot of times but I did contribute positively.

When we were done eating and talking, we decide to walk down to that store where Devin said they have the best candles ever. Yes, boring, always in a mood, Devin is a big fan of scented candles, says it helps him relax.

We walk into the store and he drags me away to show me his favorite scents. Kira wonders off on her own, probably talking awkwardly with some random stranger. No, it's the stranger that will feel awkward.

"So your sister seems nice," Devin starts and I gasp.

"You have a girlfriend!" He looks like deer caught in headlights and starts shaking his head frantically.

"No, I mean she's the exact opposite of you, but it seems like I've seen her before, I can't really remember." He says and I roll my eyes.

"She's Kira Freeman, from Kira's kitchen of wonder, famous chef?" I say and make an invitation of a bell and he looks at me amused.

"Yeah, I remember now, my girlfriend is actually really close with her, I guess that's where I know some things about her." He says and I roll my eyes. Picking up another candle.

I put it back when I sniff it, shaking my head to the scent. Are you even meant to sniff it?

I turn around and immediately slip, causing me to shriek and lose balance. I close my eyes, expecting to hit the floor but when I feel someone pull me close to them, I freeze and slowly open my eyes, staring at Devin in horror. His eyes are wide and worried and I sigh, patting his chest before detaching myself from him.

He tilts his head and looks behind me, before slowly pointing. "Hey, isn't that Austin Henderson?" He asks and I whip my head in the direction he pointed and see him walking away.

"Austin!" I call but he just ignores me and keeps walking away.

"Now I get why they call him Run away Lover huh?" Kira suddenly pops up behind me.

I stare at where he was standing and feel my heart crushing.

Once again, he's left me.

Hmm, what a funny yet so true name to give a person.

Time flies as skies go by, it's almost like it's mocking me from how much I've been so stressed.

It's been a really tough two weeks for me, trying to get everything in order. Lola, May and Temi are coming home even earlier than I thought because they canceled the dance show. June came back yesterday and is still sleeping, Kira and mom went to the restaurant to check on some things.

And I haven't seen Austin since the day he left the candle store. It's been two and half weeks. Yes I count by half.

I've gone to his house and even travelled all the way to his parents house to ask about him, but sadly, he's nowhere to be found. Nova looked at me like she knew what I was going through, and I hate a knowing look, so I walked away, muttering a quiet bye.

I've been trying to act as normally as I can with everyone, mom has been cussing at Austin anytime she remembers that he's lived up to his name, again.

Kira and Brooke have been going shopping for her baby's clothes. She's going to have her baby in a few weeks and we're trying to get everything done quickly.

Ethan has been seriously stressed, Macy is starting to show, and Adam has been running errands in the middle of the night to get her weird and awkward foods to calm her cravings. The only time he gets to sleep is when she's out and when he's hanging with the boys and leaves her with us. It's really such a pitiful sight, but I guess love does that to you huh?

I sigh and throw another dart, hitting just beside the point and I roll my eyes, throwing again. It doesn't even get close and hits the wall, I'm about to throw again when June walks into the room, her pale pink hair now a little darker but not changing from the original color.

She crashes into the bed, hugging the pillow close to her head and she groans, running her hand through her hair and shooting up.

"I hate sleeping and waking up and feeling like I haven't slept for centuries!" She whines and I smile, dropping the darts on my table and jumping on the bed like her.

"Wanna eat all our sorrows away with Churros while watching sad movies so we cry out our pain?" I ask and she immediately brightens up before pouting.

"But I really don't want to go downstairs to get the Churros." She cries and I roll my eyes.

"I'll go get it you lazy oaf." I say and stand up, walking out of the room. When I reach the bottom of the stairs, I see mom braiding Kira's hair like she uses to do when we were kids, Kira is sitting on the floor while mom is sitting on the couch, her brows furrowed in concentration. When did they come back?

I smile and walk into the kitchen, grabbing the large bag of Churros and two Gatorades, walking to the mom and Kira.

"Hey, have you heard from dad?" I ask, I haven't seen him in some hours, where is he? And when did you guys get back?" I ask and mom looks at me with a raised brow.

"You were the one that opened the door for us, and he went to see Nigel." Mom says and I furrow my own brows.

Nigel is Temi and Lola's dad, he'd been going on different work trips for so long, I don't think I've even seen him this year.

"Oh, how's Mrs Frost?" I ask and Kira shrugs, turning her head so mom can curve the braid.

"I spoke to her yesterday and she seems really stressed, they're calling her again for old models shoot for a magazine. She's coming over tomorrow though, maybe June will be able to get her to get her head back in the game." She sighs and I can almost see the stress lines appearing again.

I stretch my hand out and smoothen her frown until she starts smirking like when she has a very creepy thought and I immediately retract my hand.

She laughs and shakes her head, going back to braiding Kira's hair, who was now furiously texting someone, it's almost like it's the keyboard that annoyed her.

"April!" June yells and I widen my eyes, remembering that I was still holding the bag of Churros and the Gatorades. I turn around and start rushing up the stairs, walking to my room and I see June flipping through my laptop, searching for probably a movie for us to watch.

I bounce as I sit on the bed, dumping the food and drinks on the bed. "Ooh!" She squeals and grabs the bag of Churros, tearing it open and munching on it.

I roll my eyes and nod for her to pick a movie. My phone starts vibrating and I grab it, answering the incoming call. I put the phone on speaker and grab the bag of Churros, stuffing my face.

"Heyyo?" I ask with food in my mouth and I hear a soft chuckling in the background.

"Stuffing your face with food huh April?" The voice asks and I roll my eyes.

"Shut it Hakeem, or else everyone will know about your weird fetish!" I threaten and I can almost see him raising his hands up in surrender with that nervous laugh.

"Alright, you win babe. I just wanted to know if you'd do this photoshoot with me, I don't have any girl to go with me." He says and I roll my eyes.

Of course he would do that, he only calls when he needs something, usually he'll text or video call, but this, this is a voice call.

"Ugh, where is it?" I ask, already thinking of how much time I'm going to get back in time for Christmas.

And Brooke's delivery.

"Oh, you don't have to worry, it's right there in San Diego, I'll be there by tomorrow and maybe we can meet to see the guy that's running it." He says and I sigh, pausing to answer him.

"Sure, but, if you're going to be here tomorrow, does that mean that you're in Diego right now?" I ask and he sighs, drawing out a long yes.

"I missed this place, do you think I can still go to the beach like we used to in highschool?" He asks and I roll my eyes.

"Yes, and probably freeze to death. It's way colder than it usually is, you can go ahead and jump into the ocean, turn into a freaking block of ice." I say and stuff my face again causing him to laugh.

"Alright, I gotta go now, sleep time." He says and I hear him jump on his bed.

"Whatever douche, see you tomorrow, and you better look hot because I am sure as hell not going to put myself in a picture with some freak." I say and lay back on the bed, chewing slowly.

"Of course, you're way too hot, even if I wasn't, yours will definitely make up for the two of us." He teases and I start fanning my face.

"Is something burning in here cause I feel smoking HOT!" I say and June rolls her eyes, turning back to look at the movie.

"June's here, wanna talk?" I ask even though he just said that he wants to sleep because I just love to look for his trouble.

"No, you cannot lure me into your trap, tell my baby that I'll talk to her later when I get up from my much needed rest." He sighs into the phone and I smile, sitting up and grabbing the gatorade. I uncap mine and gulp it down.

"Alright, talk later, bye." He says and I mutter a quick bye before he hangs up.

I throw my phone back on the bed and move closer to June to watch the movie over a bag of Churros.

Well, we end up not eating anything but instead, keep arguing over who was going to get the next bag of Churros.

Nobody won so we ended up laying on the bed and whiling away time, talking about petty things, suddenly out of the mood of watching a movie.

°•°•°|°•°•°

I grab my milkshake and dad's own, walking to the table. I slide his to him and slip into my seat, smiling down at the creamy milkshake. I'd order a sundae, but it somehow got stuck in my head and subconscious that sundaes are for only Sundays.

Weird right?

I start sipping and I relax, feeling the rush of the sugar.

"Yuck, this is a cup full of diabetes." Dad complains and I shoot him a look, watching as he slowly sips from the metallic straw.

"Yeah, that you're filling your stomach with." I say and he starts laughing.

"Your mom will kill me if she ever catches me taking a milkshake."He sighs and shakes his head, his eyes holding a distant memory.

"Because it's bad for your health?" I ask and he smiles, his eyes lighting up in amusement.

"Because I ordered without her." He says and I roll my eyes.

Typical mom.

I scratch my eyebrows and sip again, turning the cream with the straw. "How's Nigel?" I ask and he closes his eyes and relaxes in his chair.

"Stressed, with Titilayo going back to the magazines, it's really a tough time for them both." He explains and I shrug, not knowing what to say.

"Yeah, I wouldn't know how stressful it is but seeing June sleeping and wolfing down food like the first caveman, and with all the relaxation sessions she's booked, I guess it's really stressful." I say and we look at each other before bursting out in loud laughter.
