"Now," Yuu took a deep breath in relief, "Let's talk about something else."
Having dried her eyes and calmed down enough to reassure them, Lotus was surprised to see him speak to her so directly since she had never seen him be so direct about anything till now. Not only that, why does she feel like something bad was about to happen?
"What is it?" Lotus questioned in confusion.
"About your little habit of leaving through the window." Yuu said with a sigh, "Can't you just start using the front door?"
"But, I do use the door..."
"The FRONT door." Yuu clarified as he cleared his throat.
"I just liked using the window more." Lotus replied with a cheeky smile.
"You!" Yuu sighed in disappointment and defeat, "I knew this would happen if I tried to talk to you about it..."
"Is it really a bad thing?" Lotus wondered curiously. In the past, Mo Li had often went out through the window as a pre-teen, but even she stopped doing so after entering her teenage years unless there was some urgent matters to attend to. Yet, she never really told her why.
"See, this dorm is our home for now and we have the rights to live here. Entering and leaving the dorm through the windows would just make us look like thieves." Yuu responded after some thoughts.
"Huh? Really?" She recalled the entire fiasco that occurred according to Raaji's intel.
Word has it that these two were framed for robbery of the legendary flying carpet and crashed into Octavinelle's place. From the timing, it seemed that the trio returned to the dorm after the party just to install that new piano. Impeccable timing, really. Other than that, Yuu worked with the Octavinelle to unearth the true mastermind behind the entire situation.
Apparently, aside from theft, there was also the strange occurrence where the happy go Kalim because strict and cruel at a certain point. With that mentality, he forced the entire dorm to stay and start a study camp over the holidays just because he was unhappy with where their dorm was placed after the magift games and exams.
However, to restrain everyone just because you were unsatisfied with the outcome of something seems to be strongly looked down upon unless they had such a right is kind of annoying. It was a lucky for them that Kalim was able to easily get along with everyone or everyone would've already rebelled against him a long time ago, but it was also unfortunate that it had also been like that too. However, even if she were to say that Jamil was unfortunate not to have taken his parents words into consideration, she can't say that he was a weak opponent for Yuu and the others. Not to mention, Kalim lacked the insight to catch on to small details and the will to doubt those around him. So, in a sense they both have their flaws.
If it was her, her abilities from her blood would've solved the problems already, but she also knew that her methods wouldn't be all that nice as well and may make things worse compared to Yuu's methods. If she were to put it bluntly, her way of doing things would be too rough for this problem. Not because she would be unable to lighten up, but that the people in the dorm means little to her. Why care for those who doubt you and may even try to harm you. In a place where careful deliberation and planning are put into consideration, it would make her feel as though she was back in her past life all over again. So, of course, she was glad that she was unable to join in on the party with them.
As Yuu went on to lecture her with reasons not to do what she did, she only find it all the more reason jump out of a window as his lecture stretches on, even putting Grim to sleep. She can admit that Yuu is an interesting being, but something like this can be quite annoying too.
.....
As the days went by, she began to recover steadily and continued to run the clinic while reading the reports that the ghosts had taken for her since they were the ones who substituted during her absence from the nurse office. She made certain that Jamil and the students of the Scarabia dorm are back to health and capable of doing tasks involving physical labor. At the same time, she had compiled a record of the student's conditions when Kalim came to look for her out of the blue.
"You want to manage the files of your students?" Lotus looked to him curiously.
It was truly unusual for him to suddenly come to her asking for the files of his students in his dorm and she has a pretty good idea why. She sighed and shook her head, "I'm afraid I'm unable to hand them over to you, even if you do try to negotiate with me about it."
"Eh? Why's that?" Kalim looked to her with eyes of confusion, "I just thought that it would be a lot easier on Jamil if I start learning how to take over these tasks a little."
"However, it's not that simple." Lotus responded readily as she sat back down with the compilation of the health records in her hands, "First of all, information of the students in the school are all private information of the individual. You cannot just be given the information without authority or permission because it would also require the trust of every single person in your dorm. In society, anyone's information is considered to be of great importance. Aside from their achievements, it can also contain their weakness or negative sides. Basically, any information. Placing this in the wrong hands would hurt them instead. You are their dorm leader and I've heard that you are trusted by everyone in your dorm. However, there's a fine line between being trusted and having the right to their information. You have their trust, but you don't have the right."
"So, I can't just get their information even if everyone trusts me because I don't have the right to?" Kalim clarified in disappointment.
"Yup." Lotus responded, "Well done getting to the point of it. There's another thing, though."
"Hm?"
"You aren't used to absorbing all of the data and putting them into use." Lotus clarified, "I recall that others have said that you entered the school last year and became the dorm leader without the proper training nor experience of working alongside the former. Even if you want to take on Jamil's work to help him relax a little, there's a possibility that you may also mess up or take longer to complete them when you're supposed to have them done on schedule. So, rather than make it easier for him, he may need to do more instead. Yuu told me that you've had parties rather often, but the question is do you know how to value which is important during which time to throw those parties and the reason to throw them?"
"Well, that's easy." Kalim smiled, "I don't remember all of them, but sometimes it was to cheer everyone up or to celebrate an achievement or event. It's impossible for me to remember all of them, though..."
Having said this in exasperation, Kalim could only lament his own weak memory by this point. However, he still wants to help out Jamil since he finds the reason for the overblot was actually on him.
"Still, I can't throw a party while Jamil isn't well." Kalim said recalling the time he couldn't throw parties because Jamil's hand was injured that month.
Lotus nodded, "Rather than to throw parties, let the injured rest without any for a while. Then, when they're well. You can throw one for their completed recovery. Having them move around now will only make some worsen their injuries and you need to remember that your vice-dorm leader needs to recover himself mentally as well. Overblots are dangerous, after all. So, he'll need proper rest. Simply put, no parties till everyone's recovery. As for what you can do now, why not doing what you've been doing since then?"
"What I've been doing now?" Kalim said in confusion.
"You've been doing your best and putting your effort, right?" Lotus pointed out, "Just keep working hard and strive to be the best. You have someone to look up to as a model, right? Grim told me that you just kept praising Jamil when you talk about him. So, why not try to get close to where he is in terms of abilities but with your own skills?"
"Ugh..." Kalim frowned, "Meaning, I need to try to become like him?"
"You don't have to be demanding or instruct others if it's uncomfortable to you. What's uncomfortable to you will not make you fully master your skills. So, no. You don't have to become Jamil. But, take your current skills and make it stronger."
"Um." Kalim muttered in confusion, "But, I'm still not very good with my studies or athletics."
