"Shattered?!" Raaji's jaw dropped in bewilderment when he heard this. Realizing that she was actually greatly injured before entering the school made him realize something as he heard this.
"Wouldn't that mean that she's being hunted then?"
Hei Hui looked to Raaji and nodded her head, "From what happened with Huo Wei as you've seen, she has been fending off those pursuers even now. There's no doubt that the barrier outside of the dorms at nights was created by her as well."
That was her doing too?! Raaji's mind nearly boggled when he heard this much to his bewilderment, "Then... Then, she's been locking us in our dorms the entire time too? But if that guys in the dorms then aren't we all in danger?!"
"Quiet down..." A-Cong growled painfully, "If it was, she would've put a barrier that kept them out, not in."
"Then..." Raaji thought for a bit before it finally dawned on him, "Ah... I see now."
Hei Hui nodded, "He's trapped every students into the dorm at night because there is us and you students have a curfew to follow at night. Every night, we've seen Huo Wei and the others leave the dorm through the entrance and meet up with those hiding in the other dorms. Thanks to her plan, those from Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, and Octavinelle have perished. At the same time, she was able to come into contact with those guardians. We have been around since the creation of the school protecting students as a part of our life contract. If we do not help eliminate the invaders now, what is the meaning of our silent presence in this dorm all these times?"
"But, it seems that there was at least one sensible individual amongst the group of assassins." A-Cong huffed, "As a result, aside from his colleagues, we have pushed him around and have been at a standstill for a while."
"This much from Mister Cong. I'm grateful for your understanding and not have put me out right away as those from Heartslabyul have."
Raaji jumped in shock when he heard the familiar voice in the broken language and spun around as a screech could be heard. Something jumped at his face and clung to him as he panicked and tore it off of him only to find familiar and annoying face.
"Wes!" He cried in bewilderment, "How did you get out of the bag?!"
The monkey chirped and swiped an apple from Huo Wei's hands.
"Gah, Wes! You idiot! That apple isn't yours!" Raaji panicked having already been afraid of the guy to begin with and now horrified to see the little monkey steal from that same guy like it was nothing.
Would the guy try to poison his Wes with an apple?! The guy was already consuming the apple before he could even catch the little monkey!
Hei Hui said just as Raaji caught the little guy in time, "Do not worry. This guy will not harm those that should not be harmed. Otherwise, we would've already put him in his place as we did with the other."
The other? Raaji wasn't certain if he should ask what they were talking about since he's the only magician amongst this group!
Huo Wei didn't say anything as Hei Hui said with a look of curiosity, "It would seem that you've decided."
Huo Wei didn't respond as his eyes was on the child still sitting on the ground. If he heard the conversation correctly, this student wasn't a man, but a woman. However, staring at her, he can't see any feminine features from this person. Rather, her voice was a little deep like that of a young boy and there was an adam's apple just like that of a young boy. Not to mention, he had seen her amongst the students before and she always seemed to fit in with the other boys her age. There also seemed to have been a rumor that discussed at how young the child was having only broken her voice recently, but what if it was all just a trick that she used to validate to the others that she was a guy? She was very knowledgeable about medicine and isn't really a guy, so all she needed to do with pretend that she had just broken her voice with a medication or poison, then used a voice altering trick to change her voice.
Thinking about this, he realized that, if she can do this much on her own, she really might have the capabilities to cure him of this poison. The only problem is what is her strength...
It was a surprise that out of all of the students, the one who they were looking for wasn't a son, but a daughter! Thinking of this, he grimaced in confusion as he examined the student sitting on the ground with a frown and muttered, "Her soul was injured just now."
"Her soul?" Raaji looked to him in confusion as he held Wes close to him worried that he would do something against his pet monkey.
"How to say this..." A-Cong grumbled in confusion.
"Cultivators require three major dantians in the body to cultivate: Abdomen, chest, and brain. They also require a soul and cultivation core to begin the cultivation and absorb the spiritual energy of this world. The five are the most important thing to a cultivator and they must protect that strengthen them over time if they want to grow stronger. This is what separates us from regular humans or other magicians." Huo Wei explained curious to see how a magician would react to cultivators, "Unlike magicians, once we began to cultivate, we no longer require the need for food or water to sustain our bodies. Our bodies would rely solely on spiritual energy to maintain our bodies."
"Spiritual energy must be quite important, then. But, didn't Lotus said that spiritual energy is what we call mana? You can consume mana?" Raaji looked to the guardians for a clarification, "So that means you can consume mana."
"That's right."Hei Hui picked off a strange purple coconut from that tree with her ability surprising the young magician as she handed the fruit to him, "This is a violet coconut. It's quite common in the world of cultivators, but they aren't regular coconut. Inside it imbues mana absorbed from the surroundings. It can even take in mana from a cultivator to grow faster. However there are some that won't grow as fast no matter how much mana you put in them because their requirement to grow are different. Fruits capable of taking in mana from their surroundings in great quantity and store them are called spiritual fruits and exists along side common fruits. Eating this can replenish mana in a cultivator's body. A cultivator's body is like this spiritual fruit. They absorb mana from their surroundings and are capable of absorbing other's mana."
"You can absorb other people's mana?!" Raaji stared at the fruit in shock.
"You can, but it's normally under special circumstances and most methods are considered to be taboo." Huo Wei responded blatantly, "The most well-know method is only known for couples. Hence this method is very rarely mentioned unless that person's health factors into the marriage. Women's role in our world are similar to assets for men, so there's no shame when such subjects are brought up. Aside from that only under certain circumstances can mana be shared between cultivators."
Hearing this, Raaji fought back the awkward air around him and continued, "Then, Lotus's soul is hurt?"
"She probably had an imprint with someone that had their soul injured just now." Huo Wei explained with a frown, "Whoever it is that had their soul injured, she would also get part of the damage the other received if it's to protect them."
"An imprint?"
"An imprint is like a spiritual mark left in your mind." A-Cong explained, "When your body can tell that your life is in danger, the imprint would be triggered from your mind and the person who gives you the imprint would use their mana to protect you. Normally, it is for physical threat. It's difficult to make one for mental or internal threats. However, this girl achieved such a difficult imprint all the same."
This was why Hei Hui's interests in this little girl just wouldn't lessen in the least. Not only was she powerful and knowledgeable, but she wasn't afraid of taking risks to achieve her goals and have a strong will. She was also very loyal and haven't harbored any malicious ill intent on the students despite their obvious dislike for her and wanting to cause her trouble.
When he said this, a thought came to Raaji as he looked up with wide eyes, "The Vice-Dorm Leader!"
Hei Hui nodded her head in responded, "That's right. It's most likely because she has an imprint on him. That's why she was so calm when we talked about how Jamil Viper would continue to have his magic drained. It's because her imprint was there to help incase things got serious. It would seem that it got a little more serious than necessary, though."
"That's not all." Huo Wei turned to them with a frown, I've heard of the student in that Octavinelle dorm overblot and she was injured as well, but not as badly as this. I have a feeling that she has been placing imprints on all of the students that have or will overblot according to her observation."
"I see. So, that's why the casualties on the students that overblotted are not as serious as those in the past incidents years ago..." A-Cong frowned and thought in awe as recalled the strength she had used earlier, "Creating an imprint is risky to begin and only those strong ones can leave an imprint. Counting the overblot that had occurred so far, she should've left four imprints so far. That's already very risky. If all four perishes, her soul may shatter and she could die."
"No way..." Raaji looked to her in admiration and disbelief, "For the Vice-Dorm leader and the other dorm leaders she didn't know well, she still left something this risky to protect them..."
