My parents were super proud when I showed them the result of my entrance exam. I had so much fun telling them about my battle with Ms. Hikki and how I won by sheer dumb luck. They were awed hearing about my victory. There were some who thought I was bluffing but after I showed them my ID card and my rank; you bet they were blown out of their mind.
The most important part was my scholarship. It came as a shock to me too but my parents were super happy about it. They were already worrying about fees and expenses when I first told them that I wanted to go to the academy to pursue magic. It felt good to see them relieved.
Maybe they were too relieved judging by how they threw a big party and fed the entire village for three days straight. It was three days of continuous merriment, alcohol, and fun. Everyone attended the party and they all were proud of my achievement. The village chief even made a toast to my name and said that he had great expectations from me. Looking at them I felt proud and happy.
Gaberu is a wonderful, friendly village with a small number of people living here. Everyone is treated like a family member and so the village is peaceful most of the time. We have each person doing the job they have mastered. My father is blessed with Green Malici archive which contains spells that are primarily used for agriculture purposes and my mother is blessed with the Yellow Shane archive which contains spells focussed on research and development. Together they help to produce food and cash crop that helps the village earn at the same time provides food to the villagers.
They are among the most hardworking couple I have ever seen which reminds me of my parents in my previous life. The only difference is that my present parents are always here to support me no matter how busy they are, unlike my previous parents who were always busy with their work. Don't get me wrong I love them both but it's just that I am glad that I found the coolest and loving parents in this life who actually prefer to be there for me.
Right off the bat, my parents started giving me lectures on how to do well in my studies, which I am pretty aware of. They even granted me permission to bash some nobles if they seem to trouble me. Well, bullying does not hinder me at all. I can handle bullies pretty well. So, that won't be a problem.
It is true that time flies by when you're having fun and I don't know how a whole week passed in a blink of an eye and it was time to leave for the academy. Nearly everyone from the village was there at the entrance gate to bid goodbye. Sadness bereaved my heart, leaving this village, leaving all these fantastic people behind.
'Do good and be good, son'
My father whispered in my ears when we were hugging.
'Yeah, sure thing dad,'
I whispered back.
My mom stood in front, trying her best to hold back her tears.
'Try to remember us every once in a while, okay'
She broke a wry smile.
Nearly everyone in the village was looking at me. My cousins, my buddies, uncles and aunts and gramps who had been a huge part of my life till now, something broke inside of me, overwhelming emotion surged when I saw their faces, I was leaving a piece of my heart behind and that separation was difficult.
I won't be seeing these faces for a while
A huge gate materialized, just in time as if to save me from embarrassing myself by breaking down and crying in front of everyone. It was a similar gate that I had seen on the academy on the entrance day. I glanced one more time at the village and my parents. My loving, darling parents.
'I'll be leaving now, take care of yourselves okay, mom, dad,'
My voice broke. I looked at everyone.
'I promise to make Gaberu proud,'
I shouted.
'Yay!!!'
All villagers broke in a chorus of hoots and screams.
Take care, you guys!
I stepped inside the gate and just like before I was taken in by the green smoky mist. Honestly, the cool mist helped a little to calm my broken spirit.
