Chapter 86 - Turn your back on me

Next morning, Cindy woke up with dark circles around her eyes as she couldn't sleep all night. Her mind was in confusion about the divorce; should she really forgive Alex and take another chance or sign the paper and cut any ties with him. She got up to make breakfast but almost fell down from dizziness. She held on to the closest chair and took few heavy breathes.

"Are you okay?"

It was a familiar voice.

Cindy: You're up already?

Alex: Yeah, I'm used to waking up early as I need to make breakfast.

She didn't turn to look at him and replied, "I see, did you sleep well?"

Alex: Hm.

She slowly walked to the kitchen counter but her head was still spinning.

Alex walked to her and held her arm.

Cindy: What are you doing?

Alex: Take a seat, let me do it.

Cindy: No, it's alright. I can do it.

Alex: I know you can, I know you're a strong person but please let me help?

Cindy stared at his face for a while then gave in, "Fine, do whatever you like".

Meanwhile, Matthew laid wide awake in his bed at 6 in the morning. He still was unsure if what Alex said was right. He made a quick decision and got up from bed. He hurriedly cleaned up and wore the outfit he could find near him and quickly got to the garage and drove to Cindy's house. On his way, he saw a flower shop and bought a bunch of Purple Hyacinth flowers to tell her how sorry he is for his behavior. When he reached her apartment, with a smile on his face he knocked on her door. As soon as the door opened, the smile on his face was gone. Alex was standing in front of him, wearing Cindy's apron with a spatula on his hand. If it was him in his regular outfit it wouldn't have mattered to Matthew as his mom visits Cindy every morning. But seeing him so casually cooking at her place, he got the answer he didn't wanna hear.

Alex: it's quite early for you to visit, Mr. Smith.

Matthew: Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?

From the kitchen, Cindy asked, "Who is it, Bunbun?"

When Matthew heard her calling Alex like that, he realized his chance was gone.

Alex: It's Matthew.

Cindy quickly rushed to the door when she heard it's him, "Oh my god really!?"

Matthew stood their on the doorway with the bouquet in one hand.

When Cindy saw the flowers, she realized why he was here and felt guilty for letting Alex answer the door.

Matthew: I just wanted to apologize for my behavior.

He handed her the flowers," I'm sorry, take care of yourself", then walked away.

Cindy called him out but he didn't stop.

"Bunbun, is that what you call him now?", Matthew murmured as he walked away.
