Chapter 69 - You're such a derp

Alex's lips curved in a big smile and he nodded, "No wonder why you were so eager to save him". Melissa's face turned red from embarrassment, "How did you know about this?"

Alex: When I was moving in to the warehouse to rescue Cindy, I heard Wilson talk with your father. He said your daughter is very fond of her mother, she will never break her connection with that bast*rd of Smith's.

Melissa: Oh...

Melissa knew Alex is a smart man, he could easily understand from that sentence.

They both sat silently for a while until Alex spoke up with a smile on his face, "Would you mind sharing the whole thing? I'm kind of curious".

Melissa: Cindy doesn't know about it...

Alex replied firmly, "I won't tell her".

Meanwhile, from the other side of the phone, Matthew's father screamed from exhilaration that his son is finally ready to take over the family business.

Mr. Smith: After your mother left, you don't know how happy I am after hearing this. Thank you son.

He still didn't know about Marina, he looked for her everywhere despite the letter he got with her handwriting. He loved her so much that he was ready to let her go if he can't be her happiness anymore. He almost broke down in tears how he could never be enough.

Matthew: Dad.

Mr. Smith: Forget it, I hope she is happy wherever she is. When are you coming back? I'll start arranging for everything.

Matthew: Dad, Mom was abducted.

His father was shocked after hearing it, even though at one point he thought someone abducted her he still wasn't sure about it but now after hearing his son, he couldn't hold his emotions anymore. Matthew told him everything that happened.

After a pause he spoke up, "Bring back your mother, son... I know she doesn't like that man. I know how much Melissa cares for her as well. That child isn't like her father".

Matthew: I know.

Mr. Smith: Protect your mother and your sister, son.

After staying silent for a while Matthew replied, "I will do my best, dad."

Alex looked at Melissa like a curious child looking at their teacher. Melissa cringed, "you're such a derp".

Alex: Oh come on! I know you wanna share it.

Melissa: What are you nine?

Alex cleared his throat, "thought acting like a kid would work". He looked away in embarrassment. Melissa burst into a laugh, "okay, okay. I'll tell you".

"I didn't know about Matthew's whereabout till I was 21. Like I always knew I had a stepbrother but I didn't know his name or where he was. As you know, when I was 6 my mother left me with my dad and then he sent me to Aunt Andrea's house. At first I couldn't find my mother as I was too young to look for her. Even Dylan Davis couldn't find her. She was living safely with Mr. Smith, unlike my so-called father who hit and tortured her."
