Chapter 28 - Token of marriage

"Roc, shoot again" Edward encouraged him. He didn't know what to expect, but he was a little excited.

This time he re-examined the squinting brother named Roc and carefully observed each of his actions.

Still not flustered, Roc readies the bow and arrow. He remained quiet and squinted his eyes. Then he took aim and released the arrow.

"THWISH!" The arrow shot out.

It was on target the third time too.

Edward was shocked!

'This is incredible! This Roc is simply an archery genius.'

Edward didn't know from where Roc even learned to shoot the arrow properly but it felt like Roc was born for archery. It was like a natural instinct for him!

"Nice, nice, nice!" Edward shouted and excitedly hugged Roc,

Night, over to the side also heard the commotion and ran over. By now she had arranged tasks for the few people who had come for food. Although they curiously looked at Edward and their archery they didn't linger long as they hurriedly went about the tasks assigned to them. They wanted to just quickly be done with everything and eat meat.

"Light, what are you so happy about?"

"Night, I am so excited! This kind of bow and arrow plus the right person can help us hunt any kind of bigger game. Before we were like a paper tiger but now with a bow on Roc, we have become like real tigers. It is too difficult to lose now!"

Edward was in a good mood and he decided to change his plan.

"Night, now it is noon, we will go directly to the forest, on the way, let Roc practice his archery, and at night we will live directly in the woods, set up an ambush in the morning against the deer!"

**************

The four men traveled all the way to the valley where the deer were found. Debro had his try with the bow but he wasn't as proficient as Roc so he eventually had to relent.

If Edward didn't have to worry about the arrows, he would have let Roc take more practice shots. Edward wanted to save enough arrows for the deer hunting.

Edward saw some pheasant sitting on treetops. They were previously out of reach but now they were like fat sheep, ripe for their picking. As long as Roc had a clear view of the bird, his shot was guaranteed to hit.

Roc's arrow took down a pheasant and everyone gave a happy shout and rushed to pick up the prey.

Edward saw Roc staring towards the treetops with a blank look on his face. Edward quickly dissuaded Roc after understanding the meaning of his look. He knew Roc was just getting the feel of shooting something from a distance, the pleasure and enjoyment.

"Roc, don't shoot again, only 20 arrows are left. We have to hunt a deer too so save the remaining arrows. For now, I will appoint you as the captain of the hunting team."

Edward then smiled and turned towards Night and asked her something out of the blue,

"Night, give us a name for our new tribe. What do you think is good?"

Night scratched her chin and smiled sweetly;

"Light, I can't give a name, you know so much, so you should give a name!"

Edward thought for a moment, he was saved by Night, and the name of the new tribe should have something to do with her. He knew how much Night liked bird and always watched birds flying in the clear sky during the day so he felt the name of the tribe had to be something related to birds and something simple.

"Then we will be flying eagle, flying eagle tribe!"

"Okay, let's have that name for the tribe." Night smiled, her dark eyes flashed brightly all the while she was carrying two fat pheasants with her, the other one also hunted by Roc.

Seeing that they were less than one mile away from their destination, they worked on finding a relatively open terrain to hunt.

"Roc, Debro and Night, let's camp here in the wild tonight. What do you guys think we should do next? You don't need me to teach you that now do you?" Edward asked cheerfully.

They had already planned and planned. Edwards wanted them to think for themselves too instead of relying on him only.

"Then...then....of course it is roasting.... and eating the pheasant!" Debro replied with an excited grin on his face. It seemed he was looking forward to eating the bird for dinner.

"Then hurry up and gather firewood!" Edward smiled and patted his shoulder.

"Brother Light, Night sister, you both should rest today, let me and Debro do everything. We have learned enough to do on our own." Said Roc.

Roc was in a state of extreme excitement and quickly unloaded his bow and arrow from his back and got to work along with Debro.

"That's good! We are waiting to eat the bird you both roast!"

Edward took Night aside and sat down with her. They sat extremely close to each other as they bodies touched each other. Edward gently whispered into her ear from behind:

"Tell me about the saber-tooth tiger's teeth that you want as a token to accept someone as your man"

Hearing this, Night simply blushed.
