Chapter 32 - First world problems

Roc squatted on the ground while estimating the correct distance he needed between the deer group and himself before he started firing. With shivering hands, he took the arrow handed to him by Night, squinted towards the front and aimed his bow.

He calmly waited for his chance and soon the chance came.

"THWISH!" he released his arrow.

A banging sound was heard as a deer fell down.

Night's eyes didn't dare look anywhere else. When she saw the moment when the deer was shot, she excitedly screamed. Then she looked around, apparently, she forgot that Light brother was not here at the moment to share the joy of hunting with her.

The equally excited Roc quickly nudged the arm of Night, indicating that she should not make any movement. Night, remembering her role, quickly took out another arrow and handed it to the waiting Roc.

The deer group scattered when they saw the death of one of their kin. Not wanting to waste the chance, Roc quickly took aim and fired another arrow. Another deer was shot down.

The deer in the front were scattering away while the deer in the back didn't know what had happened.

In their evolutionary process, although they have been chased by human beings, they had never posed a threat at all. As for the weapons such as bows and arrows, they have never faced them before.

The deer's in the back got confused upon the fall of their companion, raised their heads and look around for a while. Confused because they heard no noise or saw no movement around them. They felt no danger.

Roc couldn't let them run away so he took aim and shot another arrow.

"THUNK!" Another deer fell to the ground!

Finally, the deer group realized that they were not safe and began to stir up collectively.

The deer was ready to slip away!

Edward had reached near the deer group saw three dead deer on the ground and knew Roc had succeeded. He quickly shouted loudly to startle the deer and make them run straight in front of Roc who was ready to shoot.

"AHHHHHH....."

When the deer group heard the sound from their behind, they rushed ahead in fear of the unknown. They were afraid of this new kind of predator who had already claimed three of their kin.

The deer started to run ahead and past Roc.

Roc's mouth was closed while he took deep breaths. He half-squatted and took aim. He calmly observed the deer passing by. Finally, Roc shot another arrow. Then another and then another. Roc kept shooting the arrows that were handed to him by Night as quickly as he could.

Eventually, the deer had escaped out of their encirclement. Edward and Debro both made their way towards Night and Roc.

How many deer had they captured?

Roc and the Night also rushed to check,

"Look at all the deer... Hahahaha!" Night screamed in excitement.

"Light!" She cheered and yelled at Edward who was running towards her direction.

Edward ran over while panting.

He wiped the sweat from his forehead,

Panting and laughing he said: "Night, I heard your scream, I know that our harvest today would not be small! Roc, tell me how many arrows are left?"

"There are only two arrows left." Roc grinned, took the quiver from the Night and showed to Edward.

Edward glared at the five deer scattered around, two of them dying, rest not yet dead.

"Roc, you shot twenty-eight arrows, there should be some arrows nearby that can be salvaged. Let's find them."

When he had just finished speaking, he heard that a shouting in the distance.

"Deer...Deer.....not dead yet!"

The three people ran out and saw an excited Debro standing a little distance away from them.

Reaching Debro, they saw that there were a few more deer that were injured enough to not escape them.

After everything was wrapped up, the total deer that they hunted turned out to be eight!

Looking at the prey that was brought together, everyone smiled. Debro and Roc were sitting on a dead deer while Edward himself was chewing a grass stick. Everyone was enjoying the moment of satisfaction from today's great hunt.

The doubts inside the minds of Night and the rest disappeared about the abilities of Edward.

"Light, we have a lot of deer," Night spoke with a small smile on her face.

"Sister, now we have a problem." Edward sat on the ground while frowning and said:

"We have so much meat, how are we going to take this back?"
