Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: No Matter How Poor I May Be,The Children Cannot Suffer

In the end, Luke's timely intervention prevented a dragon-slaying battle from occurring.

Although Zhou Kun's posture was a bit stiff when he got off Anbabu, the scene was not too catastrophic.

"Hahaha, my bad. I didn't expect such a misunderstanding to happen." Luke didn't seem too embarrassed as he still greeted Zhou Kun enthusiastically.

"I didn't expect that my rash behavior would cause such a big impact either."

"It has been numerous years since a Dragon Rider appeared on Aomu Continent, which is the reason for the misunderstanding. However, Mr. Cohen, you're really young and promising. You have become a Dragon Rider at such a young age." When Zhou Kun summoned Anbabu, Luke guessed that Zhou Kun might be a Dragon Rider. However, he didn't know that Zhou Kun was not menacing at all.

"Mr. Luke, you previously asked me to come to the Magic Association. Do you need my help with something?" In fact, Zhou Kun went to the Magic Association this time, not just because of Luke's invitation.

Zhou Kun was not a fool. Luke looked at him differently due to Anbabu, but Zhou Kun actually needed Luke's help for something.

He was going back soon, and he was worried about leaving Little Naby there alone. Although she said that she could go look for Old Hughie alone, Zhou Kun could not allow her to leave on her own after seeing how tumultuous things were on Aomu Continent.

Judging from the situation that he had gathered previously, the Magic Association was considered a neutral organization, which was rather rare on Aomu Continent. Zhou Kun wanted to ask whether he could ask Luke to get someone to escort Naby on her way to look for Mage Hughie.

"Since you've asked that question, I won't beat around the bush, Mr. Cohen. Our Magic Association is very interested in that giant dragon behind you."

Upon hearing its name being mentioned by that old man, Anbabu looked at him in disdain.

His confidence as a giant dragon told him that as long as it wanted to leave, that old man and his greenhorn mages definitely couldn't make it stay.

Zhou Kun had just detected Anbabu's thoughts, and in order to placate Anbabu which was throwing a tantrum, Zhou Kun promised to give it 500 out of the 5,000 Dragon Crystals that he had received that day.

At the thought of obtaining 500 shining Dragon Crystals soon, Anbabu could not hide the joy within its heart. The greenhorn mages around it looked much more pleasing to the eye.

"We can talk things over."

Receiving Zhou Kun's affirmative answer, Luke continued to speak politely. "I'm too eager, but I'll have to ask you to come to our Magic Association to discuss the specific matters in more detail, Mr. Cohen."

Hence, everyone watched as Zhou Kun summoned Anbabu to make it fly back into his arms in the form of a lizard—feeling green with envy.

"This is the place where we conduct magic trials. Originally, a magic trial is supposed to be conducted here today..." Zhou Kun was like a leader who had come to inspect as he visited the Magic Association under the guidance of Luke.

"Magic trial? Will it be conducted today?"

He continued to ask Naby, "Naby, I remember that you've learned magic before too. Would you like to give it a try?" Zhou Kun did not know anything about magic trials at all, but he decided to put forward that suggestion after thinking about the fact that Naby seemed to have learned magic from Hughie before.

"Mr. Cohen, my attainments in magic hasn't reached the level where I can take on magic trials," Naby said embarrassedly.

"What's wrong with that? I remember that your wind blade spell was pretty good, Naby. Why don't you go up and give it a try?" Zhou Kun was like a parent who was egging their child on to perform their talent during the Lunar New Year gatherings. Their catchphrase was often "go up and try".

Upon hearing Mr. Cohen mention about the wind blade spell that she had used previously, Naby felt even shier. Wind Blade Spell was a mandatory magical spell that all magic apprentices had to learn, and she had only succeeded after several tries.

As an executive of the Magic Association, Luke could tell Naby's magical abilities at just one glance. However, for the sake of pleasing Zhou Kun, Luke said to Naby benevolently, "Since Mr. Cohen said that you're good at magic, you should go up and give it a try!"

He then gestured for the people behind to hurry up and prepare for the magic trial that had been interrupted.

Hence, Naby cast a Wind Blade at the props meant for the magic trial, under the expectant gaze of everyone. However, the Wind Blade did not leave a single trace on the props.

Little Naby's expression grew sullen immediately. Not only did she embarrass herself in front of everyone, she even disappointed Mr. Cohen, who trusted her greatly.

The members of the Magic Association, who had been fully prepared to give in to her and let her have an advantage, were also stunned. She was way too weak, so there was nothing they could do.

All of a sudden, there was a somber tension in the trial room.

Zhou Kun was rather embarrassed too since he did not expect Little Naby's standards to be that… ordinary.

However, she looked rather dejected, and he was afraid that she might be traumatized. If it were to become an emotional barrier of hers, then he would have sinned greatly.

As a consequence, Zhou Kun contemplated about it quickly, and an idea occurred to him once more.

"Naby, did Mage Hughie teach you about Botanical Magic Spells before?"

"Teacher Hughie did teach me a little."

"In that case, try casting a Botanical Magic Spell."

"Yes, yes, try casting a Botanical Magic Spell." The group of staff of the Magic Association continuously shot each other glances and hinted for the workers to change their trial props to those that were disposable.

"But, can I really succeed?" Clearly, Naby was rather uncertain about herself.

Zhou Kun secretly pulled Naby to the side and stuffed some peach juice into her hand, which he had prepared for Hughie previously.

"Isn't this the potion that was used for healing Teacher Hughie previously?"

"Drink it and you'll succeed later."

"However, would that be considered cheating?"

"Cheating? This potion will unleash your potential, Naby. How can it be considered cheating?" Zhou Kun said with a sullen expression.

Although Naby looked apprehensive, she nonetheless, nodded and drank the peach juice.

The trials for Botanical Magic Spells were much simple. They would just have to catalyze the growth of the seeds stored in the trial target, and it would be considered as passing the test.

In order to accommodate Little Naby's standards, the crew placed the seeds on the surface of the target. Basically, the simplest catalysis would be able to activate the seeds.

As Naby exhibited her catalytic spells on the target, a huge and strong plant rose from the target, causing the crew to be engulfed because they could not dodge in time.

"Wow..." Numerous mages gasped in shock, and they realized how talented she was in Botanical Magic Spells.

Zhou Kun finally understood why children should never suffer despite being poor because the pleasure of having a competent child was a hundred times better than being competent himself!
